I have only done a handful of extended family group sessions(15+ people).

The ones I have done are for friends. Oh man are they alot of work. There is always one or two adults and/or children who really don't want to be there and don't co-operate well. That is sooo hard.

I am not trying to sound whiney, I just know you all would understand.

It just doesn't feel like I am doing my best work and that is hard for me. All the details can not be perfect, I am thinking I won't do them anymore as I am not proud of this type of my work.

Does anyone else feel like this? I never hear anyone talk about that side of their business.

The families have been happy with the photos for the most part, there was only once where one person couldn't be satisfied with any of herself.

Thanks if you read all of this, I just needed to talk to someone. Cindy

I hear you. We have 20 people and have a group pic at every family reunion. It is never perfect and we don't expect it to be. You know what they say about trying to please everyone!

Cindy, I do not do photography as a business, but can totally appreciate that angst of wanting so badly to please at all costs - even when that means taking photos outside your comfort zone. That combined with the one or two people who won't be happy no matter what can be very stressing. Good luck, have a laundry list of shots planned in advance (to hopefully avoid getting sucked up into the 'crazy' associated with getting a group of people together) and give it your best - that is really all you can do.
