DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT, install one of those lighted magnifying mirrors in your bathroom! 
I can barely get to bed because of the time I spend poking, pinching and prodding my face! I may not have eyebrows one day!

My mother gave me one with something like 10x magnification on it! Oh good Lord, I had thought I looked okay before owning that thing, but now I stand corrected.

I already suffer from this phenomenon when I'm sitting in the car in daylight and looking in the mirror on the visor, so I can't imagine what a lighted magnifying mirror would do! | |

ITA - I always avoid looking in the mirror over the visor in the car and I love, love love the warm toned, soft lighting in the bathroom at work. That is the vision of myself that I carry around in my head.

We stayed in a hotel that had one and I just about plotzed when I saw all the hairs I'd been missing on my chinny-chin chin.

What I want to know is: how do those hairs pop up so quickly on my chin? I will make sure it's all fine there, and a couple days later notice several 1/4 inch long. Tough little buggers, too. | |

I went to my sister's house last year and she has one. I fell in love with it and have beend debating buying one for myself. She is a MAJOR picker. That mirror is definitely making her examine and pick her face more than usual. I can totally see why the docs and esthetician's get more business from them!

Some of the comments remind me of a "bit" a comedian did one time...
He said that the growth of hair on women's legs slows as we age ... so that we have more time to deal with the INCREASE of hair on our faces!

Oh my gosh this happened to me yesterday. I was sitting in my car waiting to head into a job interview. I pulled the visor mirror down to apply lipstick and noticed my neck. What the heck is going on with my neck. I couldn't do a dang thing about it either! | |
