I have only placed a couple of orders here, and I haven't shopped online for much in the way of scrap stuff. I just have good LSSs and haven't had the need to place an order. I shop online a lot in general, but for craft stuff I like to feel and touch before purchase.
But I just got a big order from here and was excited to paw through the box. After checking everything, I was really disappointed in two items. Not 2Ps fault - the product just didn't look like the pics.
One was a set of WRMK stickers (they are similar to but different than pictured, and not in a good way), and a set of AT metal flair (there's nothing metal about them, they're thin, cheap looking plastic and epoxy). If I had seen either of them in a store I just would have passed them by.
It's $8 worth of product, not enough to pay to ship them back. They're not damaged, it's not 2Ps fault. So for you online shoppers, what do you do - just accept that some things will not be as pictured/described and move on to the next order, or do you send them back and take the couple of dollars leftover after shipping it back?
I am mostly super excited to use all the other new stuff, just to be clear that I'm not letting this issue ruin my day . It's just one of those little annoyances.....

To some extent, you just eat it when the product doesn't look like the picture. But you do get better at "seeing" what the product really looks like and looking for good descriptions (usually 2Ps doesn't give much in the way of descriptions so sometimes, if I am not sure, I will look at other websites for a better description). Also, you can post here and ask if a product is true to its picture, if it is a whole line that is off, usually someone will post and others will agree or disagree.

There are two things that "bother " me about online shopping. The first is that the colors are not always the same in the picture and in real life. But I have learned ,like you to not let it ruin my day. The second thing has more to do with 2peas. What I wish they would do is give better descriptions of the products. Sometimes it has caused me to shop elsewhere just because I have had to go to another sight to get better info and then it is easier to just buy there. I love 2peas though and will continue to shop here because I watch all the videos and want to support them.

Your post is the main reason that I rarely purchase online without seeing the item in person first.
When the item isn't what I imagine and I have no recourse, it's a big deal to me. It is an insult to my wallet to make a purchase that I hate and will never use.
As a rule, I tend to notate items that I think I'd like; find a way to see them in person and then shop online if the price is right. It's the only think that makes sense for me.
There have been quite a few times when I thought that I'd like a product that I've seen online and when I see it at a store, it is no way near what I was expecting.

It happens, and like others have said, it's not really worth sending back. But in my experience it's hasn't been all bad. I've gotten somethings that just looked ho-hum online, but looked amazing in person. If I'm not sure about a manufacturer or product, I'll look at some gallery or blog projects before buying. I usually get a much better sense of what something really looks like from those types of photos.

Thanks, everyone. I looked back at the AT item to double check the description. The picture actually is pretty good. But It says Ready Set Go Metal Flair. Isn't metal flair those metal button-like things? Maybe I just don't know what flair is, I don't know. But it's definitely 6 little stickers that I paid $4 for. I feel like a sucker .

I hate shopping online because you can't see the product and I hate paying for shipping. I have no choice because some items you just can't find in the store I bought some prima stamps a while back and was disappointed because I thought they would be bigger but I have managed to find things to do with them. I guess you just take it with a grain of salt

Well, I had an issue with a stack like that once. In the online store it looked to be a lovely purple/black/silver paper stack that I HAD to have for my anniversary photos. A few days later it arrives and it's PINK! I LOATH pink. I contacted the store and said, hey, might wanna fix the white balance on your picture as other stores had it with a very clear pink tone that would have informed me not to purchase the item.
The store was very kind, understanding, and said they were sorry for the picture. They credited my entire purchase (a rather large one) with 10% off which essentially made the offending stack free. Within the day they had replaced the picture and added a description that clearly said "this item is pink/black/silver".

I do the majority of my scrappy shopping on-line because I only have a M's and HL availabe to me and they never have current product.
I have ordered a few things that turned out not to be what I expected. It's the chance you take. I never sent anything back, but either eventually found a use for it or gave it away. I agree though paying $4 for something you did not expect is really heart breaking.

If the product image in the store is a mock-up or computer generate image, I try to Google images of the real product or look for it used on layouts first.
This part of scrapbook shopping really bothers me! There is no excuse for companies to not put out actual photos of the real product after it has been manufactured. I am sure often at the time preparing for trade shows the real product hasn't been produced yet to be photographed, but photos of real images should be released when the product is available.
I have no idea what percentage of a company's sales are from online sources, but I think it must be significant, given the number of people who do not have local scrapbook stores to shop in.
Some companies are way worse offenders than others.
I am sorry you were disappointed in the product you received! Wasting scrapbooking money is painful!

The biggest thing I am seen that is really off is the colors of the MME- All is Bright collection. So many sites have the color really off- maybe that is the images they got from MME, but really off from IRL...
Miss Cherrypicker -- if you see this post, could you elaborate? I'm about to hit "buy" on this collection, but your post has me nervous! How are the colors off?

My problems seem to be the sizes of something .... Though I am sure it says it in the description so most of the time it is my fault ! If I am not sure about something I try to find it on you tube ( haul videos) that way I can make a better judgment.
