My sweet DH got me a Wishblade 2 years ago. (I did not ask for one...I have a Cricut E and was looking into a different kind of cutter when he brough it proudly home.) I am getting no use out of it...I can't figure the stinkin' thing out.
Should I keep plugging away at it?

I have one too and haven't been able to get it to cut correctly and have not used it much. In my case it is probably a user error and not the machine.

I loved my Wishblade but was given a Cameo as a gift so I gave mine to my Mom. You should try to figure it out... it really is easy. There are Wishblade forums on Yahoo that are very helpful in getting started or whenever you have a question. Look on Youtube too for videos. Also, download the free Silhouette software...it is much more user-friendly than the Wishblade software.

I have the pink wb and uploaded the silhouette software and it works great. The software is free and I purchase shapes from Silhouette America and it's great. Oh I also have the Cricut E and Slice Elite and I use them all at different times.

I have a blue wishblade and use it with the new silhouette software. I am able to do all cuts from the online store, and all the freebies that people post.

I used mine for a long time before I got my Cameo, it works great with the Silhouette software. It is a great machine, what exactly are you frustrated with?

If you go on you tube, there are tons of tutorials for the silhouette software. You should be able to get the help you need with the specific task you are trying to accomplish.

Considering that the Wishblade will let you cut your computer fonts and more, why would you get rid of it? It does have a learning curve, but I didn't think it was that bad. I was able to cut something within minutes of setting it up. After an afternoon of playing with the software, I could design my own cutting files.
Now that you can use the Silhouette software with it, there should be lots of tutorials available on sites like the Wishblade Yahoo group, and probably other places as well.
It would be worth whatever time you spend learning to use it. I loved mine, and my DDIL loved hers! I use a Gazelle now, which can do even more, but I still refuse to get rid of my Wishblade.

I am in the same situation as the OP. But now I will have to try it again! It has sat for over 3 years collecting dust. Thanks for all the suggestions!

It really is easier than it may look.
Especially with the new free silhouette software.
The real difference is that instead of dials on the machine to set cutting depth, you use blade caps and maybe a washer to set cutting depth, and speed is set in the software.
Lots of free files that are ready to cut.
About 50 in the silhouette store, and one posted weekly (for that week only).
AND using fonts with the wishblade is super easy.
There are a handful of fonts that have the most popular shapes ready to go for scrapping.
Go to the blog by a pea named cleversomeday
and download 09kutups, punchdings, label shapes and label shapes two, and banner bridge. Some of the fonts she has made, some are made by others.
And, if you want to learn more complicated things, she has some great tutorials also.

Thanks for all of the encouragement! I'll give it another go. I usually don't have trouble with stuff like this, so I don't know what my problem is. I'll get that software and see if that helps. I REALLY want to cut some of those great Silhouette shapes!
