Just a quick question for you before I run off to work this morning. I'm curious about what others think. I know what I like to see, scrapbook pages! What got used on the page, why you chose it, if there was a specific technique in play. I like it when I feel like the person writing it is kind of just talking to me, person to person.
But what makes you go back to a blog, again and again.
I don't blog for a company, am not a design team member (although I used to be an Artist on Call for Stampington & Co. several years ago). Now I blog for me, just taking photos of pages and cards and then uploading them gives me a different perspective on the project. Sometimes I can see where I'd like a bit more embellshment or an extra layer or two of paper, etc. And I enjoy the process of blogging, it's another way of documenting something that is important to me.
What say you? What makes a blog a favorite of yours?

for me I like to see people's work, but also hear about people's lives. I like to feel a part of it, not just that I'm going to another online gallery (it that's what I'm looking for I'll just go to a gallery.)
I don't often look at tutorials. I guess for me it's feeling a connection. They're usually the ones that I'll follow.
Personally, I don't like blog hops. I don't know why, but I just don't. |

Like Barbara, I like to know a bit about the person.
I love different projects as well. Not just all scrapbooking pages, or cards (mind you that is what I have been posting lately).
I think because I like all different types of crafts.
But then again, if they post the same type of projects then you won't be disappointed.
I (like you) blog to document my projects. I also post a bit about my life as well.
My blog is like an on-line journal with some creative pieces thrown in.
I blog everyday, because I find joy in it.

I so hear both of you. I like to feel some sort of connection. Sometimes I'll read a blog and think, "Oh, I so wish I knew her better". Although, most of you girls could probably be my daughters! LOL!
I love to see pages and cards, works in progress, a peak at someone else's work table or room. I love to hear how someone has "made do" or worked around a scrapping shortfall or issue.
Thanks for your answers! I'm hoping to hear some more about what everyone likes to see in a scrappy blog!
Have a great day all.

I'm so glad someone asked this question! I've often wondered if I share too much about myself personally, or ??? Great feedback!! |

I read a post somewhere (maybe even here) from someone who didn't like the personal stuff on blogs she went to. She just wanted projects.
My blog is a "me" blog so it's all about everything ... personal stuff, layouts, kids, life in general.
So ... because that's the way my blog is, I guess that's what I like when I read other blogs.

Photos of the process.
List of supplies (brands, where you got them...)and info about the supplies--like any odd things or if you like/love/hate it, link to videos if there are videos.
I love brand comparisons--which die brands work best or what inks you like and why, etc

I'm one of those who prefers just projects (and info about them), which is how my scrapping blog is set up. I have a separate blog for the personal stuff, set up mostly for extended family members who live far away and who don't scrapbook. However, it is a pain to maintain two separate blogs, and I am starting to think about merging the two.
I think your blog should be set up the way YOU want, and not let the preferences of others make you feel you should do your blog differently.
If there is a lot of personal stuff on a blog, I may read some of the posts, or I may skip them, just like the non-scrapbook threads that sometimes get posted here on the scrapping message board.
Blogs are like scrapbooks. There is no right way or wrong way to do them. It's your personal blog to do however you wish.
What gets me to go back to a blog again and again is if I like someone's style. If they have layouts and projects that appeal to me, I will go back and visit again and again. If I like their style and they have tutorials or photos of how they make something, I am even more likely to visit often. |
My Scrapn' Blog
Photographers are violent people. First they frame you, then they shoot you, then they hang you on the wall; but if you're real good, they will scrapbook you! | |
