Does anyone here use the Cricut mats with the Cameo and what are your thoughts on this? The silhouette mats are so expensive and at least I could use the coupon and buy the cricut one locally. Thanks!

I don't know about the Cameo, but the Cricut mats work fine in my Gazelle. That's all I use now.

Cricut mats work fine in the Cameo or SD (mats for Cricut mini) even for print and cut. If you are placing swatches on the mat and need to match up with your screen you need to adjust for the difference in the leading edge margin between the 2 brands. Otherwise it's business as usual.

I just recently bought some of the newer silhouette mats. I had the old one with yellow covering and them used the cricut mats. I LOVE the new silhouette mats!

I use them too. I put my Silhouette mat on top of a Cricut mat, lined up the grids, then cut the Circuit mat to the same size. No worries about alignment this way. I do, however HATE the smell of the Cricut mats.

I like to stick to proprietary items and feel i get the best cut with a Silhouette mat and a Silhouette blade. I'm sure others will have opinions of course! Oh, do you clean your mats? If so, that gives them a longer life. fotobella.com has great pricing and you get a 15% coupon with every order, so i get them pretty reasonably.
If money is tight, then by all means use the Cricut mats. I would wait until the warranty expires on the machine though, in case of any issues. KWIM?
