Someone recently made an important scrapbook for me, and I want to pay for it. What is an appropriate rate? I already paid for some of the materials but not all, and I want to compensate for time and effort. Any suggestions? Thank you. redhead1 | |

It really depends on where you live what the going rate is, but probably not less than $10/page. | |

The LSS I work at does scrapbooking for hire. We charge $10/page plus materials. The typical book works out to be around $300 when all is said and done. | |

I would think it depends a little on how detailed or embellished they are. Also, did you have any kind of agreement ahead of time, or did they do it as a gift in part? I would think there would be some leeway on that $10, depending on those responses. | |

I scrapbook for others.
Even $10/page is low.
A scrapbooker creates art. Like any other artist.
Think of it as a hair stylist. You have Great Clips. You have a local salon. You have an upscale spa. And you have Oprah's stylist.
I am glad you plan to pay her.

It really depends on what all is on the pages and how much time they put into the book. I made a lady her son's high school album, turned out to be 2 huge albums in the end... she had so much stuff she wanted in there it was crazy. She supplied some of the materials, but in the end I think her bill was around $600 for both of them... that was with all the supplies and such I provided and new albums because her's wouldn't hold it, if I had used hers it would of be at least 4 albums... it sounds like a lot of $$ but it really was peanuts for how much time I had into it. Sometimes it is better to pay a per hour fee plus supplies on scrapbooks, but that is just my opinion. So $10 per page is low, but it really depends. | |

Assuming that the pages would not be "slapbooking" like some of us joked about on THIS thread I think $10-12 per page plus supplies is fair. If done in the styles commonly seen here with layers of paper,inking,tags and lots of added details each page would take around an hour to complete. Unless the person was doing it out of the kindness of their heart for a special occasion I would actually be very skeptical of anyone willing to do it for much less. An entire album is a ton of work and even if you love scrapbooking it is still work. | |
