Welcome to week 6--sorry it's little late.. We are hoping that Amanda (ScrapnBee)is alright and just got really busy with her husband returning home from oversea. I offered to step in until she returns hopefully soon.

this week is all about our photos-both prints and digital. it can be a overwhelming task for some of us. There is so many optional out there that may or may not work for us. The task is to find solution that will work for you. We all love to hear what works for you and how it help you scraps.

Here is link to original Wookiemouse blog post...which is awesome in covering everything and posting several options to chose from.

QOTW #1 : To keep Amanda's Creative Me Happy--Did you create anything last week?

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your photo organization now? Remember it is OK to say no. this is what it is all about, figuring out how to improve it and what other options is out there to consider.

QOTW#3: Do you scraps mostly 4x6 or any sizes?

Remember to take this one step at time, don't feel that you have to do this in one week. I'm still tweaking my system on photos-both prints and digital.

Be back tomorrow with my before pictures...

I hope she's okay too!!

QOTW #1 : To keep Amanda's Creative Me Happy--Did you create anything last week?

Yes! I worked on another layout for my Weddings album.

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your photo organization now? Remember it is OK to say no. this is what it is all about, figuring out how to improve it and what other options is out there to consider.

No, not really. I am trying to work my way through all of my printed pictures, then work on digital. I've been digital since Dec 2002, so I've got a LOT of pictures!!! Right now, my printed pictures are sorted somewhat .... current ones are in envelopes waiting to go into the correct albums, and some are just ones that I haven't figured out what to do with (various pics from my time before DH, my school photos, etc.). My digital ones are just sorted by date on the computer (YYYY-MM) without any tags, so I have to remember when I took a picture if I want to find it. I definitley need to work on this!!!

QOTW#3: Do you scraps mostly 4x6 or any sizes?

I'll scrap any sizes. I have a photo printer that takes 4x6 and 5x7 paper, so I can do really small ones all the way up to 5x7. I haven't really had the need or desire to do larger than that yet.

Back to work for me!!!

Hope Amanda's ok too. Great to see you, Michele.

Q#1: yes, finished 2 LOs that needed journalling/ die-cutting on my Sill.

Q#2: NO!!! My laptop got stolen at the beginning of July and I lost my perfectly organised PSE digital catalog! I have everything backed up onto disks and and external hard-drive, so didn't lose too many photos (though any are too many) but I have since bought PSE10 and now my new laptop won't talk to the external hard-drive, so I can't access my catalog Not sure where to begin rebuilding it now...

My printed photos are ok and organised.

Q#3: I scrap any sizes. I print at home and put a number of photos on a A4 paper and then cut apart. Anything goes. I don't like cutting up a 4x6 print - will rather scan, resize/ crop and only print what I want.

So, this week's challenge is a BIG one for me. Need to speak to my IT brother and see if he can help.

QOTW #1 : Did you create anything last week? Just a little. I made a gift tag for an upcoming bday party.

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your photo organization now? Remember it is OK to say no. this is what it is all about, figuring out how to improve it and what other options is out there to consider.
Yes and no. I have folders on my HD by Y->M->Date/Event. That I like. I started using Picassa about a year ago. I like it but I'm not really sure how to keep it organized, mostly the albums and tagging. I've started tagging some stuff but not everything (about 5 years+) so when I look for photos I just try to go by date.
I'm not sure I'm using the album feature effectivly. I'm working on my DD's baby album so I pulled pictures of her from the year and put them in a seperate album by month. As I pull pictures for pages, I sometimes make an album just for the page . IE Halloween- I put all the pictures I want/like in an album, then go through them and figure out which ones I want to scrap and delete (from the album) the ones I won't scrap.
I think I need to delete albums as I make pages...

For those who use computer programs with albums and tagging, do you have any tricks or tips on how you use those features? With tagging I don't know how detailed I should get without making it overwhelming for me.

QOTW#3: Do you scraps mostly 4x6 or any sizes?
Any size. I use PES to crop my photos and put them on standard size prints (4x6, 5x7). I print at Costco.

Thanks Michelle for taking over! Hopefully everything is ok with Amanda and she will be back soon.

QOTW #1 : To keep Amanda's Creative Me Happy--Did you create anything last week? Yes, I did quite a bit actually...I am NOW into 2012, having finished up a trip to L.A. that included Disney, Warner Brothers and picking up our bulldog puppy, Boo Radley.

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your photo organization now? Remember it is OK to say no. this is what it is all about, figuring out how to improve it and what other options is out there to consider. I'm not sure I'm happy with my system; right now, I download my photos and put them into files that are chronological. Once I edit the photos, I change the file name to include "ready to print"; once printed and on DVD I change the file name again to include "on DVD". The thing is, when I started using this system, I was using CDs; now, my new computer won't read the CD! So I really should transition to an external hard drive but so far have not done it. Maybe that will be a change I make with this challenge.

QOTW#3: Do you scraps mostly 4x6 or any sizes? I scrap all sizes...mostly 4x6 and 5x7 but since I've discovered the Photosheet software I've even been printing in wallet size. I upload online to Sam's and pick up in the club near me.

Sure hope Amanda pops in to let us know she's OK...

QOTW #1 : To keep Amanda's Creative Me Happy--Did you create anything last week? I created a banner, decorations and party favors for a baby shower.

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your photo organization now? I have my digital photos pretty much organized. My very old print photos need a lot of work.

QOTW#3: Do you scrap mostly 4x6 or any sizes? I scrap any size. Sometimes I feel it's better to crop photos so they focus on a specific part of the photo.

good morning

sorry to be mia--been very hectic week.

OTW #1 : To keep Amanda's Creative Me Happy--Did you create anything last week?

Yes, working on couple layouts--need to finish the journals and get date from my sister on some of them.

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your photo organization now? Remember it is OK to say no. this is what it is all about, figuring out how to improve it and what other options is out there to consider.

currently no--I've four cm photo organizers which I loved but it has outgrown with number of photos i have and currently still have more to get develop. I'm also not like the way it is as I have to look at computer for date on some of pictures when making my layout which add time to search for them. so I'm going to work on sorting all my pictures by year then monthly then I will use Stacy Julian journalings box if i can find the file on my computer to use for dating the picture including journals so when I'm ready to scrap it all ready for me.
this will take me a while to do in couple months. I'm going to start with 2012 and work backward.

For my digital, they are organize by year then monthly. I also have two folders of 5x7 and 8x10 so i can upload them when i want certain pictures in those size. I'm also creating a sheet to mark which folder I have done such as edit, upload, prints and add journals and date to put in box. This way i know what is done and prevent any duplicates.

QOTW#3: Do you scraps mostly 4x6 or any sizes?

Currently, I do them in 4x6 but slowly adding other sizes such as 8x10 and 5x7. I also using smaller sizes on some pictures when i have alot i want to include.

I posted picture on my blog: photos

I'll be posting week 7 shortly..

Photos... aargh. My print photos are organized to a point, in the old Cropper Hopper containers, but my new goal is to get them in albums so that we can look at them. I've been buying the Michaels photo albums when they're on sale and slowly getting that done. So that's an ongoing project that I probably won't finish anytime soon.

Digital photos -- I use iPhoto, and then have old photos stored on CDs. I really should explore a better way to keep them... I don't have an external hard drive but might explore that.

QOTW #1 : To keep Amanda's Creative Me Happy--Did you create anything last week?

OK, since this was really last last week,... I'm a little behind. I don't think that I created anything that week. Life has been a little crazy - I was sick, then my mom (who I take care of) also got sick. She was hospitalized last week and this week went into a rehab facility. No time for scrapping, I'm afraid.

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your photo organization now? Remember it is OK to say no. this is what it is all about, figuring out how to improve it and what other options is out there to consider.

I'm not happy with digital photo storage, but I am happy with the transition to albums for my printed photos.

QOTW#3: Do you scraps mostly 4x6 or any sizes?

I usually print at 4 x 6 or 2 x 3, depending on what project I'm doing. But I have no qualms about cutting photos for a project, so my pics don't always stay the size that they're printed...

QOTW #1 : To keep Amanda's Creative Me Happy--Did you create anything last week? Yes, a couple of scrapbook pages and some AJ pages.

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your photo organization now? Remember it is OK to say no. this is what it is all about, figuring out how to improve it and what other options is out there to consider.

I am happy with the way my photos prior to DH and I getting married and our photos after DH and I got married are organized, but his photos from before then have always been a disaster.

Also, the many digital photos I have on my computer could be better organized, because the camera isn't putting the right date on them. It's probably a matter of changing each of these wrong dates to the proper subject and consolidating certain folders within other folders in that case.

QOTW#3: Do you scraps mostly 4x6 or any sizes? These days I mostly mix it up, but when I see a sketch that calls for all 4 x 6, that's a good thing.

I received an email from on my pinterest watch list: this Ashley has a tutorial on how she organize her photos:

how to organize your photos
I thought i share it here for those who are having trouble with their digitial. I'm already doing mine this way but will tweak it more to make this process so much better.
