Just requested to join the FB group. This will be fun. 2013 will be my first year.

I decided to finally take the plunge because of a couple things:
1. It's really all about the photos and the stories for me....all the fun product is just gravy.
2. I have done several SS mini binder albums with the divided pages protectors and they are some of my favorite projects.

My one goal is to try start putting my weekly layouts together on Sunday nights. And I am setting no rules for myself-if I feel like doing a full 12x12 in the middle, I'll do that.

I am super excited!!!

I am a project lifer. That's why I am taking so many pictures.....

I started it once before and quit about March. I turn 39 on January 6 so I really want to do something special leading up to my 40th so I am planning to do some version of PL just not sure what yet! I would love a FB group to keep me motivated.

i started PL this year and am going to continue next year. i have really enjoyed it and it has made me feel creative again. i do it by the month. some weeks i have a ton of pictures, some not so much. i also add a traditional layout when i feel like it. i think it can be whatever we want it to be.

i enjoy making my own journaling cards, but the new designs BH has coming out at the end of the year are tempting me too. i haven't decided yet.

I will definitely do project life again in 2013. It has honestly been one of the best decisions for me because it has MADE me think of how I can document the week & even bring my camera to everything so that I could have some photos to include. Before I would have let alot of events/happenings/photo ops pass me by but not anymore.

And my kids look at it 100x's more than ANY layout album.

Next year I will probably go from 1 page to 2 pages per week. I find that now I don't include as much journaling/stuff as I could if I had more room.

I'm also going to continue to use just freebies out there which I show on my PL freebies blog (link in siggy).

I like the idea of the facebook group! Sent a request to join. I have taken daily pics and kept up with the photo part for my project 365 but I only started scrapbooking my layouts end of May

I do one page digital layout for each week and have previously printed my pages into a bound photobook.

I am pregnant and expecting this baby mid May. So I hope to be able to keep up with this project next year.

Just sent in my request! My goal for this project is to get the entire year into a single D ring binder, including youngest DD's artwork, etc. I still have a lot of reading up to do on PL, but I am hoping it forces me to stop and capture the everyday stuff.

I just sent a request to join the FB group.

I am behind on my 2012 but really trying to get caught up so I can start fresh with 2013.

The most important thing I learned about doing PL 2012 is that it's not supposed to be hard, I try to remember to enjoy it and that there is not set way I have to do it. Remembering that is what's helping me to get caught up.

I always have the best intentions at the beginning of the year. I'm gathering stuff together for 2013, and I'm hoping that will make it easier for me!

I really want to try PL in 2013. I realized that I have so few pictures from over the years. We don't have children and don't travel much so it is hard for me to remember to take pictures and document our lives together. Hoping this will help. Would love ideas from childless Project Lifers.

Definitely in for 2013. I love this project more than I can put into words. I look forward to working on it each week and it's yet to become a "chore" for me.

Advice: keep it simple. Seek inspiration if needed, but make it your own, figure out your photo printing plan, and for me, it really helps to jot down an outline of my pages for the week and fill in what pictures go where
before I print them.

It is just my husband, our 2 parakeets and myself, no kids! I take pictures of just about anything and everything. No matter how mundane it seems now, it will be fun to look back on in the future. I also like to include receipts, tags from new clothes, movie or concert tickets, etc. Something else I like to do several times throughout the year is snap a shot of the gas prices and make a list of the prices of grocery staples such as milk and bread. I know there are more, but I can't think of them right now. I'll come back and post again if I happen to think of them.

Advice: keep it simple.
ITA! One needs to remember how Becky designed the system.
Put a pretty card in a slot.
Use another card to journal.
Add pics.
That's it.

If one adds dimension to their cards and enjoys it, that's great. Once you begin to feel it's a chore, it's time to get KISS (Keep It Simple, Sweetie!)

2012 is my first year and I plan to continue into 2013. I have also been considering doing monthly only and if I happen to have a lot of photos I want to showcase, I can always add in inserts.

I was exclusively printing everything at home and realized a couple of months ago how quickly I was going through ink. So now I print the photos at Walmart and the cards at home. It seems to work for me that way.

Another thing that has worked for me is trying to set a day/time aside that I can work on it. Recently, that has been Sunday after the baby goes to bed (and into Monday after bed time if it's needed) and I go to a crop every other month to put it all together. I shouldn't need nearly that much time if I am only doing monthly, but we'll see!

I'm in again! I started right at the beginning so, 2013 will be my 4th year. I use a lot of digital cards but, will also get the Seafoam kit.

This year has been my most successful (staying up to date within a week or two). The difference for me was:

1) I started printing all of my photos at home with my Picturemate Charm. That allows me to scrap in real time and not have to wait for the mail. Many times I'll take a photo, edit and print it within minutes just to stay on top of it.
2) My PL time is scheduled in every week, just like any other important event or appointment. I only need and hour or two to get a week done. Even with my crazy house of little boys, it's do-able.
3) I dropped the POTD format. Instead, I just choose my favorite photos from the week and those that tell the best stories, many from my iPhone. It was very freeing to let go of "needing" a daily photo. I take hundreds through the week but, occasionally there are days without.

i just sent a request as well...

i've learned so much this year about how to make this project work for me.

i started the year trying to take a pic a day and quickly decided that weekly spreads were more my thing. i usually include 6-8 pics a week - some weeks, they're all of one thing and other weeks, there's something new each day...

Heads up in case anyone hasn't seen Becky's post -- there's a one-day Black Friday sale (starting midnight tonight) with 20 per cent off everything Project Life on Amazon, and the Canadian/European distributor has 20 per cent off everything on orders over $100.

What pocket pages is everyone using? Are the ones by BH the only ones that fit the 3x4 cards? I don't really want the sn@p pages because I like the 12x12 size.

I do use mostly BH but I bought a pack before the price increase. I think the new Photo Freedom line has 3x4 slots (Basic Grey? Echo Park? On my phone as sleep deprived from BF and I can't remember!) Also keep in mind, a 4x6 slot fits two 3x4 cards. Sometimes I keep them from sliding around with a bit of washi on the back... Or the front! Or I adhere them to a piece of scrap paper.

Crap it does fit 2 3x4 cards! I didn't think of that! Wish I had read this before I bought 3 BH pocket pages! Oh well at least they were 20% off!

I ordered the Cobalt collection this weekend and got a WIFI printer so I can print pics straight from my phone! I'm READY!!!

Was on the fence for a really long time, but figured the black Friday sale on BH's Amazon page was a sign that I should do it.

I'm still trying to get my technique down, this will be my 3rd year. The first year I did P365 using the original kit. I didn't like that the journaling cards were so small, and I also didn't like hunting down a photo every day just to fill a space - some really didn't have much meaning to me. This past year, I opted to go by week instead of day, and used my own kit that I made up with WRMK divided page protectors so I could journal on index cards. And found that I didn't journal as much as I used to. So in 2013, I'm hoping to combine the 2 - go by weekly photos using the BH kit. And I'm determined to get a good schedule in place so I can keep up with it!

I sent a request on FB as well ... 2013 will be my third year. The first year (2011) I used Simple Stories stuff (bought the page kits and cut up the different card sizes). This year I am using the Cobalt kit and whatever cute freebies I find that I like. I am still debating between the new Seafoam kit coming out for next year or Turquoise (my husband likes this one better). I have decided for next year to quit collecting a ton of 3x4 journaling cards/printing all the freebies because I have more than I could ever use

I do a weekly/daily format, just depending on the week. I don't ever stress about it because it shouldn't be stressful. I have been getting better at getting my girls (9 and 6) involved as well as my husband and want to have them do even more for 2013. I still do a family album (12x12 "regular" layouts), but have cut down on how much of those I do because now a lot of the little things go into PL and I don't have to do a full layout for one photo ... which is the reason I originally started doing PL.

I have done PL for the past 2 years and I think thats enough for me.

I did want to share my tips that made it successful for me-
1) Use your purse calendar to jot down notes/journaling. It will help you reconstruct your week.
2) Pick a regular PL time. I did mine every other Sunday. I uploaded my photos on Thursday nights, picked them up on Fridays on my way home from work and then spent a few hours everyother Sunday putting it together. It was a nice routine that kept me current.
3)Embrace your handwriting.. it took me 16 months before I realized I was ok with handwriting my journaling instead of typing it.
4) Its ok to have a theme for a week... photos of all your closets, your dinner each night, what you wore to work, stoplights. ITs all part of your life.
5) I never did a set amount of photos each week. I also didn't have weekly headers I divided my PL album by Monthly Headers. Less stress!

Best of Luck to everyone! Its a great project!

I am planning on doing a style similar to project life. I have done PL for 3 years now and wanted a change so I am going to do a smaller album but will use the journal cards and other items from PL.

Its great and simple yet you can design it to fit your own needs.

I'm in for 2013.

Tips/Things I have learned:
1. Printing at home is easier, but less cost effective.
2. Don't get too far behind or it will be hard to catch up.
3. For more picture heavy weeks or weeks with special events, use an insert but keep it simple. I usually do a Design G with a simple title card on one of the small pockets.
4. Don't sweat the small stuff like misspellings. Just go with it as long as it makes sense!
5. I don't do mine as a daily project. Some days are not represented by pictures and I okay with that!

i've wanted to do this for a couple years but didn't have a photo printer at home. well, i finally got one and KNOW i can keep up with it now!!

i just ordered 4x6 and 3x4 grid cards, and some pretty ink and labels. i think that will work better for me than using a kit. the rest will come from my stash. i'm not going to worry about coordinating the year. that will get boring for me fast!! the grid cards and repetition will keep it coordinated.

interesting to find out from some of you that you can't fit the year in one book when you do 2 pages per week.

i plan to keep my camera with me AT ALL TIMES and let the kids help write too.

sent FB request.

I joined the group as well!!

I started PL in 2011. That year, my plan was to do a month at a time vs. keeping up weekly. I have all the pictures in place, but I still have to go back and journal. Thank goodness for my blog - or I would never remember all the details!

For 2012 I decided to do it weekly. And I just finished up week 49 ( on my blog today!) I am kinda picture crazy so I used 5 binders for 2012. yup. 5!! December is getting it's own binder and is a December Daily of Sorts.

Lessons I have learned...

1. Have a certain time during the week that you work on it, and stick to it.
2. Give yourself a deadline! I have been following along and linking up with The Mom Creative every Tuesday. Giving myself a deadline has kept me focus.
3. I've started to not use every picture I take. (I know 5 binders, right?) But really - I have been better about narrowing the stack down.
4. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram help me remember what the heck I did all week. Because sometimes at the end of the week - I just blank out and forget!
5. I love to include my kid's school work and art work in my PL. It was one of my favorite parts of my PL this year. I go through their backpacks nightly and I make a pile of things I might want to go in my PL. Usually a special drawing or something they wrote. I put the date on the top and the child's name (if not there). That way if I am a little behind in PL, I know where to include their work.

I am looking forward to PL 2013! I can't wait to get my hands on the Seafoam kit!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've made PL the way I scrapbook 90% of the time. I still make some layouts because I love that process too but PL lets me keep things simple. After nearly 3 years of doing PL I have realized I use a quarter of the kit because I prefer to cut down my own pp. This is hard though because I really love the looks of the new kits.

I follow a "no pressure" approach to PL. I sometimes have tons of pictures and sometimes have 10 for the whole month. They all made it into the album just fine. The one thing that has saved me is a small calendar agenda I jot notes in nearly everyday. Very easy for me to go back and fill out journaling cards. We made a huge move from overseas to the States this summer and I had 4months of catching up to do but with dated pics and my notes It was easy to do. I just plotted out pages and stuck them in a pocket and my album sat that way until I unboxed my stash so I could pretty up the pages.

Exactly!

I'm using the Echo Park photo freedom this coming year. The whole joint teamup with american crafts rubbed me the wrong way and the increase in price while saying they are completely transparent. Hmmm....and doing back to China was a quiet post too.
I think the Echo Park is adorable and perfectly me. I put no pressure on myself and just scrapped when I took photos. It is what it is.

I am moving from a weekly to a bi-weekly approach in 2013. I too have been scrapbooking less, but really this feels more meaningful to me and my family and friends ADORE these albums. I am finishing up 2012 with 3 albums and I'm hoping to keep it to 2 next year.

I have known for a long time that I would do PL in 2013 again, 2012 having been my first successful attempt. (I did not last long in 2009 without a printer here at the house.)

I have decided today on my approach:
o 12 x 12 using WRMK Designer Little Boy Blue album
o Going DIGI in '13 using the lovely Katie Pertiet Pocket Templates
o Using Echo Park's Photo Freedom (they sure better be consistent and release the digi version on JS!
o I will print the pages here at home and slip them into straight 12x12 page protectors

If I feel the need to add some 6x12 pages or vary it up, I can. I think the templates will eliminate the "nitty gritty" and free me up to improvise some on format and picture size.

I think now that I have it all hammered out in my mind, I am GETTING EXCITED! I had shelved this whole decision process until I finished up work and I have spent the day thinking through it. Going from paper to digi is what has me hesitating, but I feel good about it. Now to just cross my fingers!

I also sent a facebook request just now for the group!

Merry Xmas all!
