It is a sunny yet CRISP day today. My bed is next to a window, and though it is double paned, the icy air is coming right through..it's in the low 30's. The boys have 2 frisbee games starting in an hour...I can't imagine how they are going to keep their hands warm enough to catch a frisbee. But that said, I need to get them up and dressed and fed, so we aren't late.

Hunting down gloves and a hat for me too.

Ok wish us well and after we get home and thaw out, I have 2 scrap events I'm attending today...one at 2 (scraplift) and one at 7 (speedscrap). Maybe I need to take my camera with me today to see if I can get some photos to use.

Have a good Saturday.

Have fun Debi - we are maybe supposed to get some snow tomorrow. We could use it. Still very dry here. A friend who lives in the Black Hills goes on a hike out to a ghost town every fall to see if the animals are storing away anything for winter and if they are it is usually a harder winter. Last year nothing - this year nothing. So, I'm thinking that is not good for the needed moisture. We will have to see though.

Take Care all!

74 degrees here today but really windy. It was 42 when I got up. Had an earthquake in Eastern Kentucky not to awfully far from where my son lives this morning, rarely have them there. 4.3 on the scale. No reports of damage. Have to think it's part of this crazy weather pattern.

Didn't stay long at the crop. Had a very small turn out because of the choir practice that got scheduled and then they had a combined 2 and 6 year old birthday party in the cafe portion of the church and there were kids running and screaming everywhere. Didn't take long for the people that were there to start packing up. Did get a wall hanging done for a baby shower, I'll take a photo and get it posted later. Headed to Evansville I think. Have $30 in Kohl's Cash, a free $10 coupon from there plus a % off coupon that "must" be spent!

Guess everyone has had a busy day! I went shopping, found another pair of Fila memory shoes at JC Penney's (on sale too) and got a free pair of jeans thanks to Kohl's cash. Other than that didn't find much. Tried to start Christmas shopping but seriously there is nothing worth buying out there!!!!

Good Morning!

Wow, where did the last few days go? I was on here Thursday and all of a sudden it is Sunday. How did that happen?

Tina, CONGRATULATIONS! That's awesome. Though I knew you could do it! It will be a big change after so long at one place but what a step up. And a press release? Joining the rich and famous now, are we, lol. 2013 is looking to be a great year for you.

Not to beat a dead horse, but it does seem strange that 2peas STILL haven't listened to their supporters. The white has been toned down a little, but I still find my eyes tearing after a while reading. I've seen a lot of regulars not posting often. Can one see how long people are online for? It could be that the number of site-hits has increased as we come and go more often, but are actually spending less time here in total. Might give some skewed stats to those looking at these things...

Debi - I hear you on the 'I need to do this but don't wanna right now' Story of my life. Why,oh why can't we just do the fun things? Sean is driving me insane with the school work, but I'm glad he is a 'normal' boy by everyone's responses. Can homework be my first world problem? At least my kids are getting a decent education and I have the time to help them. As for your challenge this month - I'd love to play along, but it takes me much more than a day to do a LO, lol.

Toni - the 'blah's' don't last forever, thankfully. Come by and say hi. We'll try to cheer you up. Life just seems to get into a rut sometimes and this time of the year is exhausting in many ways.

Monica - Oh wow, a dentist that was CHEAPER than expected? Can I come see him too? Mine is always more expensive. The timing of surgery also sounds good. It will be great to get that finally sorted. And we are not letting you off the hook - WHAT BOY?!?

Tammy - hope you are enjoying your down-time with your friends. Sounds like a blast.

Becky - I scrap in the ornings when the kids are at school. I work mostly afternoons, so I do some admin and then scrap for a little while. It was much harder when the kids were smaller. I actually love scrapping because it gives you the freedom to do it in litts bites. I'd spend 15min printing photos, write journalling or choosing sketches in front of the TV with the family, etc. Spending a whole day at my scrapdesk is a luxury and doesn't happen often.

Theresa - glad you had a semi-productive shopping spree. I haven't even started looking at Christmas gifts. Just found out last night my Bil, Sil and their 2 kids who were going to come here for Christmas have had to change their plans and are not coming to town at all. There goes all my planning... Oh well, now I will focus more on my Dad and brother than om Heinrich's side of the family. Maybe a good thing, as it will make it a bit less hectic. I did really want to see them though, as they live 5 hours away and we only see them about once a year.

I had an amazing time yesterday on the tour of the underground rivers of Cape Town. Headlamps and gumboots and climbing down man-holes! It was great fun and very interesting. Going to have to scrap these photos soon. We then went out for lunch at the Waterfront and it was so relaxing sitting in the harbour, eating seafood and chatting to family. Aah, life is good!

Need to get Sean working on those projects of his, so will be back to praise later.

Tina, saw on the news the explosion in Indy and rushed to the address book to make sure it wasn't on your street. Sure hope it wasn't close to you or that your family/friends were involved?

Michelle, you may have something there about the frequent visits to the site being up. Since they've taken the ads off they have to be making money somehow (well I know they have the store). Perhaps we need to either post another thread on the GS board to see what everyone else thinks (probably not going to get a lot there though because I know I don't search the board anymore) or send a peamail to the powers that be?

Turned my kitchen upside down yesterday, brought all my scrap crap back in and left it there instead of taking it down the hall and then came in from shopping and dumped it on the table. Headed to Nashville after lunch so need to get it straightened up before I go. Would hate to have an accident or something and someone else have to come into this mess!

Good morning, ladies,

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Tina, and lots of good luck. It's hard starting something new after so many years but It's going to be GREAT!!!

Theresa...WOW an earthquake, the weather sure is changing everywhere. Glad there were no injuries or damage. Theresa, that Kohl's cash is a good thing. I have not even thought about Christmas shopping.

Michelle... Mitchell that tour really sound amazing. It's amazing how we travel to different places and never really explore what we have in our front door. I always say maybe we should take a tour of Miami like a tourist does. Glad you and your dad had a great time.

Debi...Did you stay warm, how did your scrap event go, sounds like fun. I Can't believe how big the kids are!!! WOW Time flies!.

Becky...It's so good to see you here. I don't do paper scrapping as much as I use to, now I'm doing more digi, but I want to get on the pp stuff soon.

Toni...Sending you lots of (((HUGS)))) I think of you often and pray for all of you a lot.

Tammy... I hate the dinner routine. Not so much the cooking , since I enjoy cooking, is WHAT TO COOK!!! and no one has a clue when I ask. They all eat what I make so that's not such a hassle here but figuring out what to makes is horrible. I adjusted the brightness a little on my computer and it has helped a bit.

Monica...Glad your dentist appointment went well.

Ok have a question.

I'm doing a 12 days of Christmas tag over at Scrapn'chat, would you like to do it here? I'll take votes

Well got to go Mom is having a garage sale and I need to be there or she won't sell anything because she wants way too much for everything, I just give it for what ever they want to give me. LOL!!

Have a wonderful Day.

Happy Sunday ladies! Thank you all for the kind words about my new job. This week will be interesting, I have to tell all of my people that I'm going, I think I could be a whole lot happier about it if I didn't have to break up with 250 people first. Of course, I have a huge mental list of things that I need to get done before I go and I'm in the middle of bidding on several new contracts, so I'll have big work to do before I head out...I'm sure the time will fly by.

Theresa - Thank you for being concerned about me, that explosion was crazy. We felt it, it woke us up and shook our house. There was a huge rush of wind and then a loud noise, it put out some kind of sonic blast, I thought it was an earthquake when it happened. It was about 5 miles from my house, but people heard it in other counties, which seems unbelievable to me. A family that we have known for a long time lost their home, their house shares backyards with the house that exploded, so it blew the back of the first story of their house off, but thankfully they were okay. There were two homes that are completely gone (as in there isn't hardly any rubble, they are just gone) and two others that are essentially all gone and a bunch of others with major damage. The blast blew windows out of homes that were a long way from there. Initially the news was saying that they thought it was a gas explosion, but it seems like the explosion was too big for that, so the authorities are looking at other options. I wonder if the house had a meth lab in it, it was a nice area, but you just never know. Here's a link to the story with pictures: Link to explosion story

Diana - what is the 12 days of Christmas tag? How does it work?

I hope you are all having a relaxing day. I actually spent a little time in my scrappy room yesterday, so I'll have some stuff to post tomorrow.

Take care all and I hope you are having a wonderful day!

Tina

DIANA...wow! that's some blast...amazing only 2 people perished in it. What a mess to investigate, clean up and repair.

MICHELLE silly girl. You DON'T NEED to do a LO in one day, nor do you need to do more than one LO in the month. the challenge is on the day you want to start it, so like today the 11th, go to your gallery of choice, go to the 11th page and pick the 11th (for month of Nov) LO posted and use it as your inspiration. You can take all month to finish. You can do as many or as few as you want. It just gives you a place to start and sometimes a challenge in that the LO you get is very different from your own style. It may also be done in paper as well as digitally. So now that I've clarified, I expect to see a LO soon.

We survived the cold weather. SOmeone brought a portable heater for the kids to try to keep their hands warm and they gave out hot chocolate. It really was that cold. But the boys' team managed to win their first game, putting them into final playoffs...(totally unexpected) and though they lost their 2nd game they took 2nd overall in the tournament. So a good day. Here's my Lo about it.
Hawks swoop in for the win

This has been a lazy Sunday. It's 2 p.m. almost and Owen is finally getting around to taking his shower, I've been on the computer all day and the boys have been playing on the xbox. Boy aren't we pathetic?

hello all,

I decided to drive up to Scrapbook Territory yesterday on whim. I needed the supplies for making these wedding invitations and I wanted to see some MyMindsEye products that I've been hearing about. It was a successful, although expensive trip. It't probably good that the store is 65 miles away... It was just me & J for the day and it was really a nice day. Charlotte woke up with the flu, but Stuart said she felt better by lunch time. Stuart, on the other hand, fell ill with same flu in the afternoon!! Now everyone in the house has had it except me!!

Just to prove I'm healthy, I increased my running distance by a mile this morning. And I did my run ALONE. It was much, much harder to finish the last 3 miles alone...physically it was fine, but I wanted to stop and walk SO BADLY!! I didn't though...I ended up averaging 11:29/mile.

One not-so-great thing about my run today: CHARLOTTE WALKED while I was gone!! Our 2 nieces come on Sunday mornings to watch the girls; they were here today even though Stuart stayed home because he was sick. So EVERYONE saw it but me!! Julia did the same thing...took her first steps when I was away from the house. I can't believe it happened again??!!!!

DEBI -- Cool you won a challenge!! I think the way you handled the 'fight' over the XBox was *perfect*. When you said you were "attending" scrap events, did you mean on line? How do you find those??

THERESA -- Don'cha just looooove Kohl's cash?! Free pants! Nice. I was hoping to see that wreath, did you get to work on it at all? Have a safe trip to Nashville. Work? Pleasure??

TINA -- congrats again on new job! And how nice to have O home for the weekend. I'm sure it was a lovely time for all of you. I didnt hear about the explosion til I read Theresa's post. So glad it was not your street. How scary! I'm sorry for your friends. Based on the article you posted, its amazing only 2 people died.

TONI -- I almost stopped at a J's to see if they had Fact or Fiction but I figured the chances were slim. I've heard it sold that fast in every store that had it. *sigh* LSS owners aren't very happy about that whole thing.

MONICA -- glad to hear about the oral surgeon. That's such a nice feeling...having things be less $$ than expected!! Whoohooo. And seriously, are you gonna tell us about this BOY, or what?!

BECKY -- I know what you mean about being tired. Sometimes I just go to my scrap space so I don't lose the 'feeling' all together. But if I'm really tired, I just sit and flip through a book of sketches, or sit and look at the 2Peas gallery. I try to do something everyday that is SB-related. If its a busy day, or I am really tired, I limit it to 10 minutes.

TONI -- Sorry you're BLAH. If I lived closer we could have lunch, go for a joy ride, or something!! Yes, my girls are growing like weeds. Everyday is something new and amazing.

MICHELLE -- That tour sounds so cool. I so want to get over there to visit your country some day. Our 2 nieces (the ones that live here now and baby sit the girls on Sundays) were born there and their dad (my husband's cousin) still lives there. It won't be any time soon, but I'm gonna get there some day!

OK, lap top power almost gone and I'm too tired to even get up to find the cord!! LOL. I don't know we're gonna eat dinner but I should post this before the battery dies.

Hope everyone is having a lovely evening...I love Sunday night in autumn. It's snuggly!!

~ B

Home from the CureSearch Walk, our team raised over $1,500 and the grand total for all was over $40,000. Not to shabby for the first walk in Nashville. It was a gorgeous day, the wind even died down during the walk portion. It was held at a really beautiful park, lots of educational as well as really fun stuff for families. Was quite impressed with it!

THERESA with your walking, BARBARA with your running, TINA with the fancy new job, MONICA B with the new "Boy" in your life, you are all making me feel like a slacker. Geesh I'm out of shape, unemployed and single...gotta fix that.

BARBARA sorry you missed Charlotte's first steps but hey take a photo the first time you see her walk and it's still first for you. Kids don't seem to wait around for the parents to witness their accomplishments. I used to work in an infant room (4 week to 1 year) and you'd be surprised at how many kids walked at preschool first to their parent's dismay. What are you gonna do?

We blew off the entire day. I did do the throw down event (my first) where you are given 3 products ahead of time and a surprise element at the start and have 30 minutes (yep you heard that right) to complete and post a layout. I managed to be one of the first to finish, but my page was very amateurish compared to the seasoned throw down participants. Oh well maybe I can get fancier next time but it usually takes me 45-60 minutes to do a layout so 30 minutes was a little panic producing.--although I actually finished my page in under 20.

Here is that page and another one I did today for my digi challenge (11th day, page 11 LO 11). Anyone going to try a page...it's fun to scraplift.

Hello Calendar Girls!

I've been very quiet lately,I feel as if I've been camped out at the pain clinic. I look forward to the day that my pain can be controlled without wiping me out. Right now they've got me on both Oxycontin and Oxycodone. They help a little bit, at least I don't feel like opening the windows and shouting things at strangers anymore.

Anyway, I've done some scrapping that I'm quite proud of lately. This last page has lots of our challenges covered. I loosely used the sketch with all the triangles on the top, only I used just one in the upper left corner, but I did use the band of paper across the middle of the page, and lots of layers. I took Monica's challenge with the scraps of paper from another layout...the red layer behind the photo, and the chevron woodgrain paper scraps were from a page I did yesterday ( I'll post that too as an edit to this post...it didn't really fall in with the challenges). I even used a strip of paper that I had punched to go on my page yesterday, but didn't end up using.

It's so funny, yesterday I did a page that took me so long to do, and I ended up loving it, but gosh, I was scrapping SO LONG. Tonights page went together lickety split. Even with me paying extra attention to the subject.

He looks at me with love

This is the page I did on Saturday. Polynesian Luau

morning girls -

so glad to have a partial day off again yesterday I got called in 2 and a half hours early because Debi's son was rushed to the ER (again)...I think he might be accident prone (poor Debi). I hope it doesn't happen today...I didn't tell anyone I was off from school either, LOL, so maybe they'll not think of that and I'll just go in my regular time. I am quite tired.

Tina - wow, I didn't even know about the blast (unfortunately I very seldom watch the news anymore). I'm glad you all were not affected.
Meth lab sounds feasible...we have a lot of them around here too, doesn't matter the neighborhoods either. Keeping the people who were affected in my prayers.

Theresa - I was at work when the Earthquake happened, so I didn't feel anything, but Larry and Kevin did...they totally freaked out! Living in California, I've experienced them before, but they hadn't. Larry had said that Kentucky got hit the hardest. Weird, weird weather we're having, isn't it... A funny thing about it (although it's not funny in reality)...a customer I was talking to while I was doing a return had told me about it. Then she was talking about how she was at work and her husband was home in Lenoir City and how much he had felt it...come to find out she lives right down the road from us! Can you believe that? That just cracked us up, and we just then changed subjects and started talking about her beautiful yard What was even more funny was she started out being a not so nice customer and changed her attitude shortly after we started talking...sometimes I can pour on the sweetness - let me tell you, we had a lot of cranky customers yesterday, too...ugh.

Barbara - I know what you mean...I missed Meagan's first walking too, although Larry went and got the video camera quickly and got her to walk a little again so I could at least witness the first day of it It wasn't too long after that that I realized how much of my kids' lives I was missing working the hours I was...a few years later I cut back at work, and a few years after that we moved up here. So at least I got to spend a lot of their childhood with them, but the first few years are gone never to be replaced...sigh.

Well I saw a pack of the Fiction that was put in the wrong place, but I've got to admit, I'm not that impressed with all of the papers (that's the problem with packs, in my opinion). And although some of them were nice, they're really very thin paprs, so you can't really use them as the base of a page. I had picked up the other two they had put out a while ago and they're the same way. So I'm not sure I'm even going to get them. I do like the embellies they've got though, they're really kind of cute.

Well, again, I wrote a book...and I've missed a lot too.

Hugs, girls.

*****Praise****

Tina and the rest...The tags would go like this. I'm going to post two Tag each day, (Tags are from the 5 years Tim Holtz did them and some I have found along the ways that do not use so much techniques) you will choose one a day for 12 days. I have done them for the Past 2 years and I love having them to put on presents (that's what I use mine for) the people love them and I don't need to add much more.

If you would like me to post them here let me know and I will just add the pictures to the thread.

Good morning. I have a brief appt this am for a research study I'm in and then free the rest of the day. Hoping to get my digi albums finished and sent over for printing. I worked really hard on them this weekend. It was nice to get away, but one of the girls was sick and I really hope I don't get it. We did hit a local craft fair for a break and I got a couple of goodies for my stocking and a gift for Joey's teacher for Christmas.

Diana- I think it would be fun to see the tags!

Theresa- got tears in my eyes looking at the Team Emma pictures. Glad you had such a beautiful day for it.

Tina- congrats on the job!! Exciting stuff. Any update on the explosion?

Barbara- I'm so impressed with your running!! And I'm so sorry you missed the first steps. Somehow those things hurt our heart in ways that is hard to understand.

Melanie- how is your Dad doing?

OK, need to praise all these open windows and get busy before I get sucked into the computer too long!

DIANA why not? the tags sound interesting so if you want to share, I'd love to see them.

TONI even being a stay-at-home mom doesn't guarantee you'll catch all the firsts of your kids. But despite the state of being in poverty, I've loved being able to be such a part of my kids' lives. Now? I need and want to work so I can start having a bit of a life for myself.

Just for the record, I don't like earthquakes. I've been through a few. Mother nature definitely has a temper.

No school today but can't blow it off completely. Kids have homework to complete and it's time to start reclaiming our living space. LOL

Quiet on the homefront at the moment but expect everyone to rise shortly. Guess I'll grab breakfast and a shower and prepare for the day.

Stay safe, warm and be creative.

AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!

Ok, now that I've got that roar out of my system, maybe I'll be able to NOT strangle Sean. He has still not done much for his projects due tomorrow (and it's 7h30pm here already) I'm not sure what he is thinking, but, no matter how much I nag, he is just not interested.

Diana - the tags sound interesting. Could you show us what you mean?

Debi- Ok, now I get it, lol. It's kinda like the BOS challenge? I thought you meant we had to do that LO on that day. Just not the way I scrap... Will have to give it a try.

Barbara - sorry you missed Charlotte walking. I kind of know how you feel. Ruan said his first words at a year, but only said 'Mamma' at 23 months! By that time he was saying a lot of other words. Oh, his first words were:"Kyk daar", Afrikaans for 'Look there.' Just be sure to take lots of photos when you do see it!

Right, need to do the Mom-zilla thing now. Either that or commit murder...

Kind of using the sketch....

The tags I would show each day starting Dec 1st. It's fun and you will end up with 12 tags.
I will start posting them on the first, but I will give little clues along the way starting after Thanksgiving.

I'm getting so far behind on praise because you wonderful girls have been doing so much scrapping!

DH's surgery went well on Thursday and they released him from the hospital on Sunday. I wish I'd been there when the Dr. arrived, because I didn't think he was really ready. But he was dressed and in his coat, standing at the door when I arrived at 9 am. He was OK for a few hours but became more and more miserable. I took him to the ER last night and we spent several hours there. He is now home again, but with a catheter and not happy about it. MEN! I really think he's doing OK, but he needs to take it easy. He's one who when told he should walk around the nurses' station 4 times a day, walks 7 times around and 10 times a day. He's going stir crazy here because we have 8 inches of snow and he can't walk outside. Our house is not big enough for him to walk the mile he thinks he should!

I'll come back and chat later. Hugs to all of you.

NYLENE happy dh's surgery went well but men definitely don't make good patients. Hang in there. Sorry you are house-bound.

Here's one from me for my today's CG digi challenge (DAY 12. pg 12 11th LO)
Anyone else going to play? Really scraplifting takes all the thinking out of making a LO...well most of it anyways.

Hey ladies! I hope you are all having a nice evening.

Tammy - The officials still don't really know what caused the explosion. They are saying that it might have been natural gas and that the people may have had a broken furnace, but I don't know...it was such a huge explosion. We coordinated the crisis counseling for all of the school children who were affected by either the explosion or the death of the 2nd grade teacher who died in the explosion. It was one of those days when my people get to feel like they are really doing something good at work. There are so many kids who are now afraid that their house is going to blow up, so we did a lot of counseling.

Nylene - I hope Steve gets to feeling better soon and that he doesn't drive you crazy while he recovers. Try not to kill him, hopefully he will be up and running again soon.

Well, I have some work to finish up. Bye ladies!

Just coming up real quick to say hi before I turn in for the night.

THERESA -- impressive fund raising. Congrats to you & your team. Emma would be proud and I know she's grateful, too!!

KATY -- yikes, those are some heavy-hitters they've got you on. I'm glad they help but ya really gotta be careful there...those things lead to problems sometimes. I hope they can find less problematic ways to help you soon!!

TAMMY -- you're not gonna show us the digital stuff? Did I miss it??

NYLENE -- So glad DH's surgery went well. I hate to add to the cliche, but it's true that men are *terrible* patients!! I hope he doesn't drive you crazy during his recovery. Hang in there!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MONICA!!!

OK, I'm off to sleep. Have a good Tues, everyone,

Barbara

Happy Birthday Monica B! So how old will you be? or is it a secret? Any special plans?

Ok we had a 3 day weekend. ALl weekend I told the boys to work on homework, and they did do some, but come this evening they settled in to work on stuff and it took them til 11:00 before they decided to go to bed with a "we're going to get up early to study and take our showers" to me as they went off to their room. Grrrr! On one hand they are being responsible but on the other hand I wish they'd use their time better, not that I'm a great example of time management. LOL

Well I said I was off to cook dinner and I did and I didn't stop. I made:
homemade chicken veggie soup
prepared everything throw together chicken curry tomorrow
homemade potato soup
pulled pork sandwiches for Owen for dinner
East Indian spicy potato dish for Noah to have over rice
I also precut chicken and veggies for a stirfry.
the only thing I didn't get done was the marshmallow treats for tomorrow's frisbee end of season party so guess I may be getting up early to do that while the boys study. LOL

Did manage to vacuum the house, do 2 loads of laundry and clean the kitchen and watch my show "Revolution." So all in all not a bad evening.

I DID NOT scrap.

See you tomorrow.

Happy birthday to Monica! Hope all your scrappy dreams come true!!!!

Nylene, glad Steve's surgery went well. Hope the catheter can come out soon and life get back to normal.

Tina, read that the woman that died was a 2nd grade teacher, sure going to be hard on the kids in her class. They said her husband was from Henderson (about 45 minutes from me) originally so it's made the papers here too. Just terrible. Must have been one heck of a gas leak for it to do that much damage, the pictures look like a tornado sat down on their house.

Read the rest but can't remember, brain is still asleep or frozen, maybe both. It's 27 degrees right now. I had the heat off in the house until around 9 last night so it's not too warm inside either. Crazy, 74 on Sunday!

Didn't get home til 7 last night, so tired still today. Doc is on vacation this week and today is BD surgery day so hopefully I'll be able to get caught up on some stuff. I do have two patients coming in for me to take out stitches and we're having a unit meeting to work on "processes" so it's doubtful I'll have any time to get caught up on anything but I'm hopeful.

Have a great Tuesday all!

First off Happy Birthday Monica!!!

Nylene, I am so happy his surgery went well. Sounds like a typical male, when told to walk, they run, lol

Debi, I am hoping to get at least one for your challenge done. I am just still trying to get back intot he swing of things when it comes to scrapping. Been pretty busy at the school lately, lost going on considering our teacher are on a work to rule stike. No sports at all and no off hours help for the students. I am trying to be supportive to the teachers but it is frustrating when you see your kids suffering because the teachers aren't doing their jobs to the fullest. Don't get me wrong, I have a LOT of respect for the teacher, or I wouldn't be there 2-3 times a week helping out. I guess I am just struggling because Gavin who usually does pretty well is falling behind and I truely believe a good part of that is because HIS teacher is the head of the union for the school and he has had so many supply teachers already this year that it is hard for the students to get a proper routine set up.

Sorry, didn't mean for that to turn into a rant, I am done now, lol.

Tina, councilling those poor kids must have been so hard on you and your fellow co-workers. Makes complete sense that they are scared, I hope in time they can start to think of it less and less.

Theresa, WAY TO GO!! Your community should be extremely proud of themselves. What an amazing acheivement for the first year of fundraising for Emma!!

Toni, as sad as it is, people are starting to get cranky around here too and Christmas is stillove a month away. I don't understand why people let them selves gt so stressed out. they would enjoy the holidays so much more if they could just learn to relax. It must be even worse there though with thanksgiving soming too.

Debi, reading your post of what you got cooked/prepared and all that house work you done, has ME tired and ready to head back to bed, lol

Theresa, I hope your days wasn't TOO bad today. Maybe this meeting on Processess will help out and get others doing their own jobs more efficantly and lighten your load a bit.

I believe I am caught up on chatter and praise. My hope for today is to get the boys Christmas books wrapped for our countdown to Christmas. We have been doing this for a few years now and I am now having to double up books when wrapping or we'd be starting the countdown mid november, lol. I am also hoping to get the living room cleaned up and ready for decorating AND hoping to find a bit of time to get scrappy. Tall order concidering I have to go to the school and pick the boys up because they have there check up with the Dr today. Then they have Volleyball tonight.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning! I have my monthly lunch with a couple of friends today. Always good to catch up in our busy lives.

Barbara- I will post some digi stuff as soon as I finish the album. Have 4 more pages to create between all the albums. On my list to do today, we'll see if it happens.

Lori- I do the same thing with our books- except I wrap them the year before to use up all the wrapping paper so I don't have to store it.

Nylene- praying for Steve's recovery. small baby steps!

Debi- teenage boys do not always do the most efficient or time appropriate tasks! LOL. There is a reason they are teenagers- so it's easier to say goodbye when they go off on their own.

and last but certainly not least,
Happy Birthday Monica B.!!!! Hope it's a fantastic day!

Tammy,
I went to costco and bought the HUGE rolls of wrapping paper, lol. I have enough for years to come, lol

They only things that get wrapped in paper are gifts for non family members, the books and we sometimes have to help Santa out. All the gifts we give to family are wrapped in Christmas fabric that they MUST give back to me or they don't get anything next year, lol. Trying to balance out Christmas Carbon foot print.

Good Morning Ladies! Hope everyone who had a 3 day weekend had a wonderful one. We enjoyed laying around the house. Still trying to get used to this cold weather. The one thing I don't like about living in the desert we get no transition to the cold 80's one day 50's or 60's the next.

First things first HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONICA!!!

and

CONGRATULATIONS TINA!!!

Diana - The 12 days of Christmas tags sound fun, I do love TH's tags. I can't promise that I'd get any done though. I haven't even started the challenges for this month. I really need to get my rear in gear though. How did the yard sale go? I'm like you I sell for what ever they will give me I just want the stuff gone.

Tina - That explosion sounds scary. I thought of you as soon as I heard about it. Reminds me of the explosion at the PepCon plant we had here in '87. The explosion was felt several miles away. I was in 7th grade and we felt it at our school about 10 miles away and we lost 2 windows in our house 6 miles away. Glad your alright. Congratulations on the new job! Leaving a place after so long is difficult.

Barbara - Wow I admire your running. I really wish I was a runner. I just can't stand cardio excercise. I really should give it another try though, I could really use the excercise. That stinks that you missed Charlotte's first steps. That was the one thing I hated about working when my girls were babies, missing out on the firsts if they did them at Grandma's.

Monica - Glad the oral surgeon turned out to be less expensive than you thought. Always a good day when that happpens.

Toni - Nice to see you stop by. Hope the blah's leave soon, I've had them myself the last few weeks.

Michelle - That underground tour sounds like it was so much fun. What a neat experience.

Theresa - Heard about the earthquake there too. Glad you and yours weren't affected. That's great your team raised so much money for the walk.

Nylene - Glad DH's surgery went well. I have to laugh a little as he reminded me so much of my dad. That is exactly how he was.

Hope everyone has a great day!

LORI love your pages, and I hope you do find time to try a day of the digi challenge. I've been trying to do one a day, but that's a lot even for me. I don't usually cook like that all at once, but since I was going to be using many of the same ingredients, it just made sense to do it all at once. Besides I love having homemade soup for me to eat during the week. Sounds like you have enough on your plate with all the transporting going on . Being a mom is like being a taxi service without tips...

I hope the boys do ok on their Kanji test today. They set their alarm wrong and didn't get up as early as they had planned. Noah got a shower but Owen didn't have time. I don't know how much review they had time for...as we were a bit rushed this morning. Oh well.

Had breakfast, made the kids' lunches, and got them to school. Read the boards, email and now I need to make Marshmallow treats and fill out some paperwork.

Started a LO last night before bed, so need to find some photos for it.

Have a good day.

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes! wow!

It seems like it will be a week-long celebration here (not my doing!). My cousins wanted to take me to dinner Sunday night, so we went to Cheesecake Factory. It was a lot of fun! Bummer is that I'm pretty sure my cousin & I both got slight food poisoning... not something you expect from a nice place like that, but it can happen anywhere I'm feeling better today, so hopefully my stomach cooperates.

My mom & I are spending the day together - we're going to the Plaza (fancy outdoor shopping area) to walk around, and then dinner tonight at an Argentinian restaurant. In between, I'm hoping to scrap some!

I have 3 friends who want to celebrate later in the week - I know for sure I am going to see Breaking Dawn Part 2 with one friend! Super excited.

oh, I have a little birthday giveaway on my blog -- *giveway* Go enter! And, Debi, I am 27 today! The blog post tells a little more about my thoughts of turning 27

Well HAPPY BIRTHDAY again MONICA. 27 isn't so old, although I know when I turned 27 I was feeling a bit the same way (I got married for the first time that year more out of panicking I was getting too old...another story for another day) but I already had my BS and MS and was working on my PhD, I can't say that even now I've achieved my career goals. Life is a learning process...it keeps going as long as you do. As for kids, well, I didn't have my boys til I was 44. Not that I'd recommend waiting that long, but you still have time. Mostly just enjoy the moment, celebrate what you have accomplished so far, and be grateful for all the people in your life who love you. And girlies, You're making me feel old...

So I decided to scrap a page for my NOV digi gallery scraplift challenge...pg 13 LO 11. here's what I came up with. Still drumming my fingers on the table hoping someone will pick a day to do a gallery scraplift...you can do it, I know you can.

Sorry for another read and run, but I've been on the run all day. I spoke too soon about DH doing so well. He's been really miserable today and had to go back to the Dr. His system doesn't seem to be working yet, and the pain is getting to him. We see the Dr. again on Friday, so between now and then, we'd appreciate any prayers.

Theresa, my SIL came yesterday and installed Color This Site for me. I can now read most of the site, but the linked layouts don't show up in color. I have to run my cursor over each line to find them. Thanks for the info about that add on.

I planned to buy a couple of the 2peas classes a couple of weeks ago and then worried that I wouldn't be able to read them. I send in a service ticket and sure enough, the chapter descriptions are all in light gray. I
wrote back that I couldn't believe that 2peas was not listening to those of us who had trouble reading their site. This is the response I got back.

Hi there,

Thank you for this input. Two Peas does in fact aim to please all of our customers. There seems to have been some sort of rumor started that we are going for the "hip younger crowed" these days, which could not be further from the truth. These redesigns take a lot of time and effort to develop, plus twice that amount of time for the aftermath of fixing bugs and improving things. Being a small company we have limited means to do these things, and our developers have a constant task list of items which they work to improve daily. I'm sorry if you feel we are not being receptive to concerns about our redesign, but I can assure you that your concerns are in fact being heard.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please let me know!

Have a great day!

For what it's worth for those of us having trouble reading it. It will be interesting to see if any changes are made.

Tina, I'm not sure I told you congrats! They are getting the very best!!
We had a home blow up in out neighborhood a few years ago. Just destroyed one house. A depressed man was staying with friends and decided to commit suicide by disconnecting the gas line. He wasn't hurt in the explosion but the house was gone. Great house guest! I'm so sorry for those who lost loved one and their homes in your neighborhood.

Toni, sorry you have the blahs. Wish I lived close enough to come get you and we'd run away and scrap a while. I'd even go off my diet and eat a hot fudge sundae with you!

Diana, the Christmas tag thing sounds like fun. I don't know that I can keep up, but I'd love to see them.

Praisemark I think. I hope I found every link. If I missed you, it was not on purpose.

Hugs to all my favorite Calendar friends!

Good morning!

Nylene - men don't make good patients! I see that every day in my pharmacy, lol. Hope they get Steve's pain sorted soon. Interesting what 2peas had to say. I really hope they are actually going to change the text-intensive parts of the site, because it is a problem for almost everyone.

Katy - Sorry to hear you are struggling with pain too. It can make you very irritable and depressed when in pain all the time.

Monica - Glad you had a special day with your mom. I'm super excited about Breaking Dawn part 2 too. I'm going with 2 girlfriends on Thursday night. Can't wait. As for turning 27 - I found life only gets better. You gain more confidence, the opinions of others stop being so important and you kinda come into your own. Don't worry about the husband/kids thing, it'll come when it's meant to. Career-wise you will start finding your path now. Things change rapidly in your 20's.

Theresa - hope your day was productive and you got some catching up done. Sounds as if you haven't had autumn there; straight from summer to winter. Keep warm!

Lori - sounds as if you have a lot going on at the school. It is amazing what a difference it makes when teachers aren't doing their best. Unfortunately the kids suffer the most. Do they want an increase or what is the strike about? At least they are at work. Here a strike means no-one shows up. It is debilitating to the whole economy. Truck drivers striked recently and shops were running low on goods, petrol wasn't delivered, etc. I hope you can help Gavin keep up. It puts a lot of extra pressure on parents.

Tina - those kids must be so traumatised. Mine took ages to get over the break-in here. Kyle carried a piece of string around (to ty up the bad guys) for weeks and they weren't even here when it happened. I can only imagine the fears an explosion must trigger.

Debi - hey, that was a productive evening! And you will be glad to know I've started a LO for your challenge (LO11 page 13) but probably won't finish for a day or two. I'm a fiddler.

Have a great Wednesday all!

Nylene, I have trouble with the links too. As for 2P's comment about a rumor about them going for the hip look, GeekPea made a comment that started it. He said something about having the "new and in" look. Doesn't sound like they're going to change anything to me until they start losing people. I think Debi may be on to something about the more frequent hits on the site. Does Steve still have his catheter? If it's slipped down, it'll cause pain and have decreased urine flow.

Tammy, prayers for good results with Becka's EEG today and that you and Gary will get some sleep tonight!

Need to get off here and get in the shower. It's a BD day and we are overbooked which means I won't get any of my stuff done today. I was able to be very productive yesterday and get a lot accomplished despite actually having to see 5 patients myself. Yes, I was Dr Creager yesterday. Took out stitches, staples, ordered xrays and reviewed them and placed a person on crutches with a knee brace with no doctor in the office. Shame they aren't going to pay me nurse practitioner salary, LOL!

Good morning ladies,

I am supposed to be packing for our trip to Phoenix but I don't feel like it! We are leaving tomorrow morning...just me & the girls will be going down so Charlotte's god parents can spend her 1st bday with her. Stuart can't take the time off work, so we'll celebrate again on Thanksgiving with Daddy & all the family in CA. I'm driving down with a friend of a friend and her 9 year old daughter. It takes about 12 hours but we want to do it all in one day--we'll see how THAT goes.

DR CREAGER -- I hope your day doesn't get out of control. When you describe your potential day, I get anxious trying to imagine how it could all fit in??

ooooooh. UPS is at the door...be right back!!

OK, I'm back. UPS guy just brought me a huge box of stuff from Life Style crafts. YUMMY. Most of it is to make wedding invitations, but some of it is for me to play with.

TAMMY -- Becca's test today, right? Thinking of you guys. Hope it goes well. Will you get results today? I did the scraplift challenge based on one of your LOs. Here comes the Bride is based on your "Back to School" (link included in my description). Thanks for the inspiration!

NYLENE -- sorry to hear Steve's had a set back. He must be very frustrated...and you must be too! Thanks for sharing that PMail about the site updates. I don't have any trouble reading the site, but I am so curious about the changes. How could they drop advertising?? In this economy, ya know what I mean?

MONICA -- I hope your birthday WEEK is going well. I think everyone should do that...celebrate as much and for as long as you can!

I did two more challenges:

Dressed Up is for the digi challenge (it was 11/11). Love this challenge, DEBI!!

Little Bo Peep is for the scraps challenge.

So, that's 3 challenges for me this month and they are ALL ABOUT ME!! That's not common, but it felt good.

Have a great day...I'm off to play with my new goodies from Life Style Crafts...OH NO. WAIT. I'm off to pack.

~ Barbara

I'm not holding my breath for TwoPeas to make any changes to their new design. It's unfortunate as I no longer like to explore the website as it's too hard to read...the soft gray text and light turquoise links are aggravating on my eyes. My eyes water the entire time I'm on the site. I try to come and post to my message boards, but I'm no longer checking other posts. I mean, really, how hard is it to darken the colors?

Had to run an errand in my mom's neighborhood last night so while the boys were at their dad's we went to the casino for a couple hours. Both of us were ahead at one point, but did we leave while we had money in our pockets? NO...why not? I keep asking myself that question.

It's was miserable rainy night last night. The drive took forever (managed to listen to 2 full lessons in Japanese--usually only have time for one)...watched dancing with the stars then went to bed.

Kids had their Ultimate Frisbee end-of-the-season party. My oh my, between the 4 teams there were over 100 kids. We had 4 double tables filled with snacks (way too many chips--but lots of types to satisfy everyone tastes). Now we can settle in to not having to rush to activities for a few months...Yay!

Haven't been too productive yet this morning but am working on it.

MICHELLE YAY! Happy to hear you are doing a Gallery Scraplift for the digi challenge....anyone else? Did you get an interesting LO to use as inspiration? I'm finding it quite interesting to take what I get and scrap from there...definitely makes me look at scrapping differently. Hope you have fun, can't wait to see your finished product.

NYLENE sorry dh isn't feeling well. the first few days after surgery are the worse. Hope he can be pain-free soon.

THERESA with all you do at that office, you should be paid nurse practitioner wages. Geesh girl. Have things settled down since all the hoopla against you started? Any resoution of getting those charges erased?

Well maybe I'll go knock out a LO before getting busy.

Thanks BARBARA for participating in this month's digi challenge...kind of fun to take something unseen and make it your own, isn't it? Love your Halloween costumes and way to go doing pages about yourself. We all need to do a few more of those.

Here's my CG digi challenge for today (Day 14-page 14 LO 11)
Somehow the design created itself even though I started with an inspiration page....funny how that happens.

i'LL try making the link RED to make it easier to find. Does that help?

BOY'S FIRST CHRISTMAS

Happy Thursday All!

Say a prayer today for our country. This whole "didn't get my way so I'm going to leave" mentality is ridiculous. There are now petitions in all 50 states to leave the nation. Crazy people!!!! Do they not realize that we live in the best country ever and if we would just work together it would be awesome.

Yesterday was busy but BD was kept busy and even the office manager roomed patients so it went smoothly. Still think it is stupid that they have 4-5 people rooming and assisting him in the rooms on his day (not in each room, the techs are assigned to a room and the scribe goes in with each one) and on Doc days they have 2-3 techs only unless we're in Madisonville then there is just me!

No patients scheduled today since Doc is still out of town. BD has surgery this morning but you never know if he'll bring people in this afternoon. Made a huge dent in my inbox on Tuesday, hoping to get it completely taken care of today. The whole staff is working so I will only have to deal with the calls that I need to.

Good Morning Sweet Peas!

I typed up my whole post yesterday and forgot to click the post button...so my sweet son closed the window...oops.

Life here is going well, just busy. I feel like I have a job and a half right now, my new place has started sending me stuff to do so that I'm not stuck with their decisions. I think it's nice of them to ask for my input, so I don't mind at all. My press release comes out on Monday, it feels weird to have someone make a big deal out of me changing jobs.

Nylene - I hope Steve gets to feeling better soon, I've been praying for him.

Monica - It sounds like you are having a fun birthday week....enjoy!

Debi - I haven't been to a casino in a really long time, but I don't think I ever left one with as much money as I went in with. My version of gambling is pretty much donating to the casino's cause.

Tammy - I may have missed this, but did Gary get his job situation worked out?

Well, I need to get moving, I have lots to do before I head out today.

Take care all!

Tina
