Welcome to the Young Scrappers thread for November 2012!

Who are the Young Scrappers? We are a group of "young" 20-something to 30-something year old girls who created a group to share our interest in scrapbooking! We take the "young" part lightly - it's all about how young you feel. Feel free to join in the chat! Just post an intro so we know who you are. And post links to your layouts here - we love to share our work & leave some praise!

----------

I couldn't resist - had to make a blinkie for the Secret Santa

Rach- I LOVED babysitting Sophia! She is such a sweetie. Even her fussing was nothing... no screaming at the top of her lungs or anything like that. LOL. Omg, she fell asleep on me and I just couldn't help smelling & smelling her - that baby smell is heavenly! Anyway, my cousin is excited about having me babysit more often now

Steph- I like the focus challenge this week! I actually got quite a few Halloween pics this year, whereas I usually don't! So they will be fun to scrap.

Melissa- I'll chat with ya!

Can't believe it's the first day of November, ack! Last night was a success except we only got one set of trick or treaters! We have 4 large bags of candy left. At our old house we always ran out of candy early on in the night. Thanks Steph for hosting. Looking forward to getting these pictures scrapped Happy November!!

Now I have four sign ups!!

WOOHOO!!!

So Millie slept for almost 6 hours last night- I kept waking up to check on her breathing...

We all needed a solid chunk of sleep. Amazing! I could work out a deal with her for that chunk of sleep every night and then I wouldn’t mind being up at 5:00am.

Well getting on the road now! Just bought an iPad as a reward for my promotion and a tool to take notes using the diction feature. Does anyone know if the diction feature is any good?

Happy November!
I'm excited about this month. I've got a lot of projects going on this month so I hope its a successful month. The flu bug has bitten here. Only Hubby and my 5yo have survived so far. And G (5yo) cant decide if he is sick or not.

I'm on my phone so I hope to check back and catch up. I'm excited about the santa swap!

Rachel, thanks for the tips on the class pricing- I read it before but didn't get a chance to reply! I went with $25. I haven't bought the materials yet, but I hope to make them worth the price - and it's a 3 hour class, but I'm going to ask if we can go over into the 4th hour if we need to. The class won't be until February.

Monica, Your Secret Santa blinkie is cute! I love your little blinkies.

My projects are doing a 40-day de-clutter thing with my sister. We are on day 10-ish (I haven't done anything since I got sick!) I'm writing a Novel for National Novel Writing Month. AND I signed up for that Silhouette class at Studio Calico. Wish me luck!!

Happy November everyone! This is probably my favorite month because the leaves change colors, fall clothes, sweaters, leave piles, and the brisk cool air. This month and up until Christmas I will be super busy making gifts, but hoping to get a lot done this month. I am hoping to make a Count your blessings mini and if I have time a DD mini. I really need to catch up some layouts so maybe next weekend I can find the time.

I am hoping to get some pictures of Halloween and put them in my mini I just completed. If time permits I put together a few Halloween layouts with my scraps.

Sorry Monica I got caught up in cleaning last night lol!

Rachel, I made ribs and potatoes from the farm for dinner... Boiled them for an hr before work, that makes em fall off the bone and gets rid of some extra fat! then they marinated while we were at work and then them quickly on the BBQ!

Camille, welcome! I'm Melissa and I'm 22. I live in Vancouver Canada. I live with my parents because Canada is much more expensive and I graduated in June. My boyfriends name is Jonny and my dogs is milo.

@Melissa - I went to Target today and found the WRMK pp that everyone's been talking about. Do you have a Target near you? And get this - I noticed that who ever set up the shelves in the WRMK section didn't open the packaging it came in and there were 3 SET of 10 pp in a clear envelope. I nicely explained to the cashier that I'd appreciate it if HE opened it and gave me the two packs I wanted and tried to let them know that if they don't go fix there display, they will be selling 3 packs of all the pp for the price of one...I still don't think he or the front end manager chick got what I was saying. I should have just paid $4.99 for all three packs...

@Loni - good luck on your class! I haven't taught at my LSS the last few months 'cause I was getting burned out. Couldn't chime in on the pricing as my LSS has a certain formula you have to follow - like you need $x amount of product on the layout and then she takes $y for the store and you get $z...I was making like $500/disney class but I was burned out on all the prep work.

I'm now at 30 weeks. Took munchkin to the park today on the way home from Target and felt like a fat out of shape loser huffing and puffing while I followed him everywhere. I was amazed that there were kids even younger than him with mommies sitting on a bench and not needing to chase their kids...MINE - he doesn't come when I call him and thinks it's super funny to see how far he can run before I catch him.

Anyone watch Grey's?? I usually watch it online and couldn't find it today - was it on last night?

Actually completed a page last night...only took me 2-3 days. I even uploaded it to my gallery.

I went to the midwife today and got cleared to go back to work. Millie weighed in at a whopping 8 lbs 13.5 oz today!! Woop!

Nicole: don't feel bad that your little one won't come when you call. Been there too. Heck still there lol and mine are 5 and 2. You would think the 5y/o would listen first. Nope she runs off and the 2 y/o makes a mad dash right behind. I have to threaten to tell daddy before they both cry no. Lol. And I'm the hard one. Lol

Welcome Camille! I'm Elizabeth, 27, married for 6.5 years, two daughters 5 and 2, and currently reside in OK. Hope you are able to find time to scrapbook.

Okay warning- little bit of a long vent

My fingers are worn out from knitting. Almost done with the ball, but not with the project. Will need another skein which I'll pick up tomorrow. Okay so last week I went to a friends house for a monthly crop and I get there and it's only 2 people. Not a problem, but then I realize my friend bought her knitting not scrapbooking. Frustrated I ask why she doesn't after the day before she asked me to come and that she was scrapbooking. She said a friend had a baby and she needed to knit up a blanket over the weekend. So as usual I was the only one scrapbooking. The girl did 2 very quick pages and started knitting. Anyway, my friend text me saying one of the girls that couldn't make it last week wants to scrapbook tonight and asked if I would join. I want to scrapbook and will either way, but do I honestly want to go and say the girl doesn't show or my friend decides to knit. My friend took over the meetup group, but honestly no one wants to go because every time she is knitting instead of scrapbooking. What am I am to do. Thanks for listening if you made it this far. Lol.

Hi ladies,

Happy November. These days I seem to only stop by at the start of the month and then bam, 30 days have gone by and we're into the next month! I am quite literally tearing my hair out with college work at the moment - it was a big ask doing a full time evening course along with a full time day job...first assignment due next week and I am only getting started...eeek!! One plus point is that we have an online campus (as I am studying online) and I'm flying it with the college forums (must have been all my practice here!!!). I am keeping my creative urges satiated by instagram ogling on my phone app...closest i am going to get at the moment...all projects on standstill. on another plus point, am still living in domestic bliss with my man - the house is in tip top shape with his wonderful DIY-ing and my mom is helping out with a bit of the housework as I quite literally do not have the time to do a thing around here!!!

good to see you are all doing well. will try to stay connected this month - need something to keep me sane

Happy Friday y'all!

I've actually been feeling icky today, and not just because of my teeth. I figured out that my nephew gave me his cold/sore throat from Halloween And right after I got my flu shot, too!

I babysat little miss Sophia yesterday! Now I feel bad, though, since it seems I now have a cold. I sure hope I didn't pass it along to her. She is doing great! She is already over 10 pounds (my cousin said she loves to eat!), and she was hardly fussy at all.

Here's a pic:

I finally got a consultation appointment with an oral surgeon for next Friday. I'm sooo ready to get this dental work done, although I really hope my grandparents can help! They said they have no financing, and the full payment is due at the time of surgery

What else? Oh, got my hair permed & cut on Monday by a girl my friend recommended - she did a terrible job!! My hair is pretty damaged And it is cut uneven as well. I did a deep conditioning treatment today, which seemed to help, but it really stinks that I have to pay someone else to fix the cut.

okay, now to catch up on chat!

Rachel- How many do you have for Secret Santa now? I seriously cannot wait to get mine! I want to start shopping already.

Gabrielle- Congrats on the new ipad! Awesome idea to treat yourself for your promotion

Loni- Yuck, flu already huh? Wow, you aren't kidding around with the projects this month! What's your novel about? hehe, glad you like my blinkies! They are fun to make.

Elizabeth- I agree, I love this month. Not to mention, my birthday is in November! hehe. I'm also doing the "gratitude" thing every day. It's become a sort of tradition.

Camille- hi & welcome! I'm Monica, almost 27y/o, from Kansas City. Recently got my associates in Business/Accounting and have been job searching like crazy. Still living at home with my mom, too (ugh!). What day is your birthday? Mine is the 13th.

Melissa- I wondered what happened to you last night! You abandoned me It's all good, though, because Lisa came and chatted with me.

Nicole- wow, a set of 3 packs for the price of one?! I would have been sooo tempted to not say anything! haha. I'm gonna have to check out my Target. oh no, that stinks about having to chase your son all around! Even more so being 30 weeks pregnant. But, seriously, I'm sure you aren't the only one out there who has to chase kids around!

Caroline- aww, we sure miss you! But I totally understand. You need to be focused on school & work right now! Hope everything goes well and check in when you can.

Evening ladies! I have been so caught up in work that i've kind of been MIA the past week or so. I was in Calgary last weekend for a party, and then i'm off this weekend and then next weekend my mother-in-law is getting married so! I'm super excited about the Secret Santa swap!

Hi Camille! I'm Lisa, I just got married this past August and I have two cats I also live in Canada!

Melissa: Which line of WRMK are you looking for? I wish we had our targets already too!

Rachel: Yay for your promotion! But boo for having to leave Millie to go back to work

Monica: Sophia is super cute! I know what you mean about wanting to start shopping for secret santa now.

Not up to much tonight, just updating my 2peas wishlist and whatnot. Now i'm just going to sit on pinterest for a bit and then head to bed! I'm hoping to scrap tomorrow!

Monica: Sophia is so cute!!! I am sorry about your hair. I hate going to see someone new because you never really know how they will be. There is a 50% chance I am going to have to have a root canal and crown in two weeks. They said they might be able to fill the tooth but might not. SUCKS!

We have SEVEN signed up! And all wishlists are here so far. I can’t wait for the partnering to begin!
****If you have swapped with fellow YS gals before, and want to mix it up, let me know who you have had in the past and I will do my best to avoid paring you all up again! Thanks****

Good morning ladies! I wanted to sleep in a tad bit more this morning, but my body didn't want me to I guess lol.

Will anyone be around and scrapping today? I plan on staying in all day! I am starting to feel kind of yucky; I think it might be sinuses.

Caroline: I am glad you are enjoying domestic bliss with your man!

Monica: I hope you feel better soon! When did you get the flu shot, could you be sick from that? I always get sick after I get a flu shot, it sucks!

Rachel: How is Miss Millie doing today? I just love seeing pics of her, she has the cutest little face!!

Just a gentle reminder: Please always remember to tell your loved ones how much you love them, and hug them tightly when you can. I learned that a coworker at my previous job passed away last night. She was such a sweet, kind woman and I am so incredibly sad

Monica: oh my she is beautiful. I am sry to hear about your hair trouble. I NEVER get my hair by someone I have never gone to. Always test them out with a style and then go back for a trim and if you like go back for a style cut. My mom believes the best hair cutters are men. I honestly have not had my hair cut since I lived in New York (tons of great stylist) so maybe that is why my hair is down to my butt. Realized yesterday I probably could use a little cut, but where. Oklahoma is not full of stylist that can do long black people's hair. Hopefully in Houston I will have better luck.

Caroline: good to hear from you and glad your going strong in your relationship.

Sorry that everyone seems to be getting sick. Hope you guys feel better soon.

I am hoping to finish up my last little bit of knitting (love Chevrons in knitting), clean and organize my scrapbook supplies hopefully, and pull out my Cricut.

Omg! It's 7am and I'm wide awake! I've been up since 5 though because Jonny won't stop *@/** snoring!!!!' I'm such a light sleeper which doesn't help. Usually he turns on his side when I poke him but not today. I didn't sleep well at all Fri night either.

Please tell me someone's up!

Piink, I'm just looking for 12x12 page protectors. I'm switching from CM albums to AC 3ring! All my Ms suck and don't carry much AC items except for maybe the odd thickers

Hi all!

I have been in my scrap room for about an hour. I am getting ready to shower and head out shopping with my grandma in search of post-baby work clothes. I am not yet in my pre-preggo clothes and I need things to wear to work!

I will be scrapping again later thanks to my in laws being in town! Yay!

Steph: I'm sorry for your loss. Millie is sleeping today. She has been napping it out with Ry's mom while I scrapped.

Morning girls,
I'm feeling worse today My head hurts, teeth hurt, throat hurts, & ears hurt. I woke up at 6am from the pain and couldn't get back to sleep for a while. I thought about getting up then & trying to scrap! It stinks... I really wanted to go shopping & scrap today. I went to Walgreens and stocked up on medicine, cough drops, and orange juice. So we'll see if I feel better after those kick in.

Rachel- ugh, a root canal! Yeah, dental work sucks. And I'm starting to think I inherited bad genes in the teeth department. ugh! Awesome that your in-laws are there this weekend & you can scrap!

Steph- That is really sad about your coworker What happened? We definitely all need to remember to hug our loved ones more often. I got my flu shot about 2 weeks ago, I think? I suppose it could be that, but I'm 99% sure it is my cousin's son who gave it to me on Halloween.

Elizabeth- Yes, I learned my lesson about testing somebody new in doing my hair!! I am so frustrated from the whole situation. Oh man, I bet you had some awesome stylists in New York! Very hard to find comparable ones in the midwest!

Monica: try to take it easy. If you have a chick fil a near by you should get the soup. Yum! It helps when I am under weather. Also vitamin c powder for mixing in water. Helps a lot too. Hope you are able to feel better later so you can scrapbook and shop.

Rachel: hope you enjoyed shopping for post baby clothes and excited about starting in your new position. That's good that your In-laws are helpful. Lol I moved to OK thinking we would get some help and to my surprise no help was there. We wanted to celebrate our anniversary at the movies and we ended up missing the early show and had to wait until 10pm for the next. We didn't get in until 12 and they were upset.

Welcome, Camille! I'm Loni, mom of 4 married for 8 1/2 years. 2 boys in school, 2 girls pre-school. I don't work, I get to stay home.

Nicole, that is a lot of $! I don't think I will make anything. Maybe I'll figure out how I can after I've done this first class. I just want to do it to hopefully get some scrapping friends and start up a crop around here. I agree about the prep work, that will be the most work! I forgot, how old is your son?

Melissa, I used to live in Marysville, WA. (Just for 4 months) Wouldn't that have been awesome if I had a drop off at the border for you. Like we were spies or something.
My husband has barely started snoring, BUT my dad and my uncle are the loudest snorers in THE WORLD. When we'd go camping, I was like "hurry, hurry go to sleep before dad does" because there was no falling asleep with his log sawing! I have stories - but I'll stop there!

Rachel, I am so sad that you have to go to work! I'm glad you got the promotion though. 8lbs! That is impressive. She is so cute!!
I don't like shopping for clothes, but it is so nice to get clothes after baby. It feels like your so out of style after going through a year in maternity clothes!

Elizabeth, I don't know what to tell you. Of course you don't want to cause any hurt feelings, but I would say start your own group with who you know WILL scrap. But, IDK, I think that could hurt some feelings.

Hi Caroline!! Keep instagramming, you aren't too busy for that are you? I like seeing your DIY and new home stuff.

Monica, I'm sorry about you being sick and the dumb $ trouble. I'm on it - inventing a money tree! Your baby is so cute!! is she a cousin?
We've had a rough week with the flu, but I think we'll be done soon. Just needs to hit hubby - which I think it has today - and we will be done! My novel is a silly YA boy meets girl. You should do it!!!! It's not too late to sign up. It's only day 3!!

Hi Lisa!

Aw, Steph I hope you aren't getting sick - especially on a weekend. You are supposed to wait until a workday. Have fun scrapping today!
So, sorry about your co-worker. HUGS.

Loni

Monica feel better! This time of year is germ fest for everything and anything that can attack your immune system!

Loni, that would have been awesome. Secret package lol! Jonny usually doesn't snore but last night he snored so loud that he woke himself up. He usually snores when he's drunk or super tired. My dad snores too and even if I fall asleep before I wake up. I just need ear plugs

I'm super cranky due to lack of sleep. Jonny has to get his pathfinder fixed and he made me drive my car so e doesn't have to wait and my sockbun didn't works this morning. Jut a bad day!
