I have a Cricut Expressions and gave away my older little Cricut. Big mistake. Now I would like to get my niece one, but I don't see the older smaller cricut available. Is the Cricut Create the same as the old smaller Cricut? Does the Cricut create take all the same cartridges as the older one and the Expressions?

Yes it is similar in that it cuts with a 6x12 mat. The new create version has some of the feature of the expression but on a smaller scale. Have you checked ebay for the personal(baby bug) cricut, I think you can still find a refurbish one.

The create has the features of an expression but the size of the original. Yes, all the cartridges work (except imagine ones) between the machines. Even the cake ones.
You probably want to look for a bargain priced one. But just so you know, JoAnn's is selling a limited edition one with pink trim. Comes with the Cricut Classic Font cartridge.

Thanks. I'm hoping Joanne's has some kind of black friday special, but on-line. I'm not going into any stores.

You have to have a computer to use the mini. There is no place to put the overlay to select what you would like to cut. I would see if you could find a Create or even an older Expression.

If you have a Big Lots near you, check them out. I was in mine today and they had one for $60.

If you have a Gypsy, you don't need to use a computer with the Mini.
