What paper collection are you using for your album or are you mixing collections? Are you mixing cream base with white base? I am undecided and trying to figure out mine this weekend. So many of the papers I have for the holidays have both cream and white in them that I am thinking it would be fine to mix it up a bit. Do you mix cream and white together if the paper contains both?

I'm using MME All is Bright, MME Winter Wonderland, and EP This and That Christmas. Some cream and some white, I figure as long as I don't have cream and white right next to each other on the same page it won't be glaringly obvious. Most of the papers that have cream base aren't overly cream though, closer to white than say OA would be.
|Posted: 11/10/2012 8:09:08 PM|My album is 12X12 this year. I'm using Bazzill Avalanche (white, but not a real bright white) for my base pages. I'm using Recollections Frosty Cabin, using some of the sheets as 12X12, others cut up to fit as borders on the bottom of the Ali Edwards DD templates (also 12X12), and some other red glittery papers that I had in my stash. I've mixed in some transpariencies (music sheet paper, red glitter polka dots, etc.) and I have divided page protectors thrown in the mix. I also have some other patterned papers for the pockets, some are cream based.
I know it sounds like a lot-but I am really happy with the way my base pages turned out this year. So, this year is all about big and glittery!
Bottom line, I make my own rules with scrapbooking. Or break all the rules as the case may be. but it's fine to mix them in my opinion.
And wow! I wrote a mini novel...

I am using paper from about five different manufacturers. However, I love a nice white in my DD albums, so no mixing for me.

|Posted: 11/10/2012 8:27:37 PM|I am using one 6x6 paper pad (Jolly Holidays) from M's. It's a really crisp, bright line with no distressing, and I only plan to use white if needed. Personally I am not a mixer of white and cream. I would go with one or the other. I think it would look better to use white and maybe ink the edges slightly to bridge the gap between the two, but that's just my 2 cents.

I'm using mostly Simple Stories Handmade Holiday with some Echo Park Season's Greetings (from last year). Both are cream based, so I plan on sticking with that and some kraft.

Using Carta Bella "Merry and Bright" and using white. I like crisp looking pages. Cream looks more vintage to me. Look at the kraft color paper and see what you think. I like that better than cream.
|Posted: 11/10/2012 9:57:30 PM|I'm mixing and matching, mostly paper from Crate Paper, October Afternoon and Studio Calico with some vellum thrown in for good measure

I'm using Simple Stories Handmade Holiday with green, red, blue, kraft, and straw cardstock mixed in. I'm actually using a 6x8 Snap album by Simple Stories and their page protectors so I'll be utilizing the 3x4 journaling cards and elements you can cut from the paper.

I'm using Carta Bella Merry and Bright collection.

I'm using mostly OA Holiday Style, with a few other sheets mixed in, plus some kids storybook pages. I went with white, although cream would have worked, too.
|Posted: 11/11/2012 8:29:26 AM|Sarp, I'm using Frosty Cabin, too. I just cut enough pages down to 8 1/2 x 6 to use as my base pages. I love the snowflake and reindeer papers !
I have collected a random grouping of papers and embellishments this year (I did a blog post about them Here . No matchy-matchy going on around here this year! I used all one collection last year, and I knew I wanted to do something different this year.

|Posted: 11/11/2012 9:19:38 AM|I'm using a ton a different manufactures. I am doing aqua, green (a brighter more springy color), magenta, red and a berry purple color. So I gathered up some of the new City sidewalks and some older crate paper Snow day collection, and then just started filling in with any papers that matched. I pulled in some OA, Heidi Swapp, Amy Tan's black and white chevron fabric paper.. really whatever fit my color scheme. I am not a traditional Christmas color kind of girl. I really started planning my album by picked the album (the aqua simple stories 6x8 album) and then pulling a few American crafts glitter ribbon colors to start my scheme.
This is my first DD, and I am loving it so far. I spent this morning white washing the chipboard portion of my album, and getting the pieces together for my cover.

I have been stressing this very same thing, I can't figure out what I want.
I have some of the old Merry Christmas line from Echo Park, and love it. But I also like the white based bright and cheeriness of other collections. So much is in my cart right now....what to do?!?! lol
Thanks for all your insight ladies!

i'm loving this thread, too. it's hard to decide...i can see a very simple, minimalist album in neutrals or a (still simple) album with soft teals, aquas. i do know that i favor mostly monochromatic...
sigh. what to do?!? t's a fun decision to agonize over, lol!

Side note - I really need to get to work finishing my base pages! We're heading out of town on Tuesday, and I was hoping to have it done by then!

This is my first year doing DD. I am just going to raid my holiday paper stash which should be some Close to my heart and some paper stack that I brough from JoAnns.
I am going to be doing an 8x8 album but I am going to start with Thanksgiving.

|Posted: 11/12/2012 6:44:04 PM|I've posted about my 2012 DD selections on my blog.
I'm mixing bits and pieces from various lines, and have pretty wide colour scheme. I will use cream and white, but not on the same spread. Throughout an album it doesn't bother me.
I am thinking that I will try and pair the cream bases with tan/taupe and gold, maybe even kraft, so it seems a little darker and differentuated from white.
Where I have had difficulties in the past is cream based embellishments, rather than paper.

My DD album is 6x6 like last year's. I used Photosheet alot last year and plan to do the same thing this year. So some pages may not even have any patterned paper because I may have six 2x3 instead. Or just a 4x6 or two 3x4's, etc. For some pages, I used a full 6x6 piece of pp (cut down from a 12x12 that was a part of a DCWV Christmas stack), or I used small strips of either 1x6, 2x6 or 3x6. I use the Colorbok white cardstock that you can buy at WalMart in the pads for $5. I'd rather use the cheap stuff since it's all getting covered up anyway and it's easy to cut down into 6x6 pieces to mount my pictures and pp to. There was this one page where I used the smooth side to do my journaling though.
And I have so much pp left over from last year, that I just plan on using that up and maybe some of the new DCWV stack I got this year. I have your basic Christmas colors in red, green, gold foil. and some with red or green foil accents.
So... it really wouldn't matter if my base is white or cream, because you don't see it on my pages anyway.

Thanks ladies for all of your opinions. I have decided to use the Echo Park This and That Christmas and Lily Bee holiday line. Both lines have white and cream and are very similar in colors. I will be adding in other embellishments and alphabets to complete my album.
