I returned from a trip to Belgium, Normandy and Paris with oveer 1,000 pictures, but that isn't my problem The two things I'm having the most difficulty scrapping are cathedrals and train stations. We were in two beautiful train stations (Ghent & Antwerp)and I have no clue how to scrap them. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

What a great problem to have! Please help us help you: are you looking for paper advice, design advice or both? Are you a single page single photo scrapper, doubles with lots of photos or mini book lover?

I will venture one suggestion, for the railway pics, without knowing more about what you need: I worked in Belgium for a bit, the architectural photos you are speaking of are probably going to suit muted colours because of the light/weather or they will have lots of "golds". If you have more "grey", I recently bought some papers from BoBunny's "Detour" collection (I am not usually a BB fan) which have grey tones to back up the predominant red & blue. One of the PP's has a subtle pattern like the railway maps on the "B" side (Detour quotes item13101328) which I plan to use for similar photos taken in the UK. The same collection has tickets, stripes, journal cut-apart sheets & so on. For the cathedrals, only an old 7gypsies collection comes to mind, probably not available.

I should have been more specific. The pictures are of train station interiors. The actual pictures are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/travelwithmilestogo/sets/72157631708308829/

I am using a 12X12 scrapbook. Double or single paper doesn't matter to me.

Best regards,
Kathy

Take a look at shimelle's layouts. She scrapbooks many travel pics and they could be great inspiration.

Sounds like an amazing trip! For architectural photos I would probably make a digi book through Shutterfly. You can really focus on the gorgeous elements and do fabulous layouts such as whole page photos. With 1000 photos taken, that still leaves you plenty to scrap! lol

Here are a couple of examples.

Beautiful photos Kathy! I was in Belgium for a day trip from Holland a few years ago.

For embellishments for your train station photos I would use rubber stamps with architectural images. Or if you have any memorabilia from your travels regarding the train stations (tickets?) I would use those too.

Cathedral photos are difficult to scrap if you think of them as needing lots of embellishments. In my mind, they don't. They are so gorgeous just as they are, that I see no need to cover my page with extra distracting elements. I'd use the cathedral photos, and maybe a bit of memorabilia if you have it (a brochure?) and some journaling. Let those photos shine!

DCWV has a stack called World Traveler which might work for you. I have seen the stack at both Joann's and Michaels. I also like the suggestion of keeping it simple and let the pictures shine with just a bit of ephemera! Maybe ask GG to do a video on this type of LO as well.

try ScrapYourTrip.com for some paper suggestions - I saw a post maybe last year where a lady re-did her scrapbooks from time in Europe and I thought her layouts were awesome. Unfortunately I do not remember if it was on this site, but perhaps somebody has a better memory than I do The layouts were very simple, which I think you need for the photos with a lot of architectural detail. I hope you will share some of your finished pages
