Hi, peas! Would you be willing to share your ways of storing card and scrapbook page sketches? I am purging and looking for a "minimalist" way of storing them that is also portable. Thanks for any and all ideas! | |

I think mine might be a little unconventional but it works for me. If I find a scrapbook sketch or card that I like whether it's online or in a book, I actually take a picture of it with my camera and develop them.
I then have a 3-ring scrapbook album and fill it with those 6-photo page protectors. I just put the picture of it into the slots and call it day.
I keep it on my desk so I can pull it out whenever I'm in a creativity funk. Or just put it in your bag when you go to a crop. | |

I use a three ring binder. I have dividers separating the sketches into groups by number of photos (1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-9, and 10+ IIRC). All my torn out magazine pages, print-outs, and Allison Davis sketches (I took the Sketch Support books apart) are in there in page protectors.
For layouts I see online that I want to use as design inspiration, I pin them on Pinterest (also by number of pictures). I have boards for every number of photos from none to 10+. |

Thanks for the binder ideas! That's one of the options I'm considering but I'm also taking into consideration space. I am in the process of downsizing my STASH as I moved my studio into the guest room (gave my studio up for our new son!! More than worth it!!!) so I'm looking at a lot of space saving storage ideas. I'm keeping this in mind as it's one I keep coming back to! THANK YOU!!!! | |

I use a three ring binder. I have dividers separating the sketches into groups by number of photos (1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-9, and 10+ IIRC).
This is what I do. It may be a little bulky but not as bulky as all of the individual books and it's so easy to look for a sketch. I just grab my binder and go. | |

Someone posted before that they use index cards that they put the sketch on. And then file them by number of photos. I was going to try and get this going, but haven't been able to start yet. |

For layouts I see online that I want to use as design inspiration, I pin them on Pinterest.
This is exactly what I do as well. My magazine layouts, which I don't collect anymore because there are no scrappy magazines that I subscribe to anymore are organized in a different binder but in the same way. I cut the layout out and taped it to a piece of regular printer paper. I put as many layouts on the paper that will fit and use both sides. Then I insert that paper into a page protector and it gets put into the binder according to number of photos. Once I've lifted a layout, I tear it out and toss it away. This used to give me more room to add to the binder which seemed to get bigger everyday. But I'm hoping that one day the binder will become obsolute and Pinterest will be my "go to" idea book. |

LOL, Paisley!!! That's what mine currently look like so I'm glad I'm not alone!!!!
I like the idea of the notebooks. I've been thinking of altering composition books and using those. I collect quotes as well as card and scrapbook sketches so that might be the way to go for me...

I scan mine as batch files and save them on my Nook. For example, I have a separate file for 3 pic sketches, 4 pic sketches. I find that I tear the pages in binders. I can prop up my Nook and its just as easy to flip through the pages. Plus it's super portable so I can stick it in my purse and plan pages and such. Makes shopping at my LSS easier too especially if I have pics printed or saved to the Nook. It would be just as easy to do for the Kindle, iPad, etc. |

I have mine filed in an A5 size binder. I find the smaller size easier to carry around than a 3-ring binder. I sort them by no of photos too. I find I like adding little notes next to the sketch/ picture of the LO, like 'like title treatment', 'great colour combo' etc.
I have a seperate section with journalling/ page ideas written down, so when I want to do a page, I can just flip throuhg this part till something inspires me. In the past I had little bits of paper everywhere with journalling, but this works WAY better, lol. |

My page maps by Becky Fleck, I have in page protectors in a 3 ring binder. I also have lots of page maps on a Pintrest Board. And then I use my computer or IPad to look them up when I am scrapping. |

Hi. I also use 3-ring binders which really need to be slimmed down. The sketches from the PageMaps website get stuffed in the back of my PageMaps book. But the binder system works pretty well. Hope you find something that works for you. Maria | |

If a binder idea doesn't work (tearing when flipping through etc) what about using a slim "accordion" type file? You could organize by type of sketch, number of photos etc. | |

I use a 3 ring binder also with tabs seperating each section.
For some I find on the computer, I e-mail them to myself and then I have a misc. folder set up in my e-mail that I store them in. |

I usually find my sketches on the Internet. I save them to my computer into categories such as 1 photo, 2 photos, etc... Then I transfer the files to my iPad and have separate albums based on the number of photos in each sketch. It's great when I am going to a crop or scrapping at home. |

i say a 3 ring binder but what i do is i print out the sketch and put it behind the lo in my page protector that way i go back to my page and use it again |

I store everything on an external hard drive. If I find something in a magazine, I scan it. If I find something online, I just save it directly to the hard drive. I usually rename it by who made the sketch, the size, and the # of photos. For example "Page Maps 12x12 3photo" That way I can keyword search if I am looking for a particular size or number of photos, and I have the creator named in it to give credit if I end up posting it. It has been awesome to have one go to place where everything is stored and be able to browse through everything quickly. The scanning does take some time, but I just set aside an hour or so every few months to get it all in. It's worth it to me! |
