I am not a tech person so if you can help me with step by step directions, I'd appreciate it. I have my cameo files saved on my laptop so it's more portable. However, I do not have the capability of printing from it. My laptop is a mac. My desktop is a PC and is hooked up to my printer. Is there a way to save my files onto my portable hard drive so that I can also put them on my PC to use so I can use the print/cut feature?

Ideally I'd like to actually download the files onto the portable drive instead of even putting them onto the computers. Any way to do that? That way I wouldn't need to worry about whether all the files are on both computers.

Have you tried doing a "save as" to the hard drive and then opening from the other computer? I don't work on a mac, but when I used to work with designers who did, the file types would work the same on a mac or pc. But you have to put the software on each machine. I think you should be able to do that pretty easily bc you can download the software for free from the silhouette america site. HTH and good luck!!

Should add:
Step 1- make sure both machines have the software
Step 2- open a file on your laptop and "save as" to the location on your hard drive
Step 3- open studio on your pc
Step 4, from studio, click "open" and navigate your hard drive to get the file you want.

That should do it.

Edited because I missed that one was a Mac!

If you have several files you want to copy, there is a faster way.

Open the external drive on the computer with the files. I am not totally sure how to do this on a Mac! I think it might be called Explore? Then in another window open the folder where you store your files. Select the ones you want to copy and... Does Crtrl+c and Ctrl+v work for copy and paste? I think it might be a different symbol instead of Ctrl. I haven't used a Mac in so many years!
Anyway if those shortcuts don't work you should be able to right click and choose copy. Then click back on the external drive folder and paste them there this is instead of doing "Save As" for each file. Let us know if this works!

I found out how to do this from a blog, but I've posted about it here. I copied all my files (keeping the file structure) and put them on a new computer without having to download all of them. Let me find the link for ya.... link for backing up Silhouette files

Have fun!
