?? For those of you that make your own DD album....
What thickness do you use for the album cover(medium chipboard)?
What thickness for the pages(thin or medium)?
How well do your pages hold up?? (If I use thin chipboard will it bend too much etc) |

I have used thick chipboard the past 3 years(found at Archivers-7 Gypsies,WR-for the cinch)and I love them for the pages I just use regular scrap paper, envelopes, cardstock, overlays to make up the 25 days and I have never had a problem. I decorate the cover, cut all my paper to size, punch the holes and assemble then I am ready to go Dec. 1st.

Two years ago I did DD and used chipboard but I find that I don't like that album as much because the pages are hard to flip and it got too thick, etc. This year I am using Simple Stories 6x8" binder and am LOVING it. |

Hi!
For those of you who have made your own chipboard albums, what size do you do? I am contemplating making one but I really want to do an 8x8 and think that is too big.
Thanks!

My album last year and 2009 was 8x8 and I love that size but I buy my covers, the store bought chipboard albums are very sturdy. This year and 2010 was 8 1/2 x 11 albums they are bigger but I usually don't have a problem filling my albums.

in 2010 I did my own chipboard covers and it was 5x7 and last year I used a 7 gypsies book cover and it was about the same size. I am still contemplating on this years album. I would really like an actual album don't know if I'm gonna go with a bigger size or something like ali edwards is doing.....

Do any of you use chipboard for the pages??
For those that don't...
You use just regular paper? Do you use page protectors??
If you don't use page protectors how do your pages not fall apart years down the road?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm just worried about making something that will hold up in the future
I thought about using thick chipboard for the album cover then thin chipboard for the pages. I bought large rings to bind it together and I thought I'd use ribbon to close the album? I saw another DD that used ribbon and thought that was beautiful and nifty idea. |

I just use regular paper, this will be my 4th year doing a Dec. Daily. I don't use page protectors. My albums have held up well. If you look at Ali Edwards blog you can view her albums(under projects) and I always check December Daily on flickr just type in December Daily and what year and hundreds of albums come up. They are just a few for this year so far,but check out previous years for ideas. Etsy also has people selling homemade albums and most seem to use regular scrapbook paper without protectors. I hope this helps. When i pick out my Christmas paper for my album I try to get heavier weight paper.
