Just wondering what your opinion is....
1) I signed up my son for U12 summer soccer way back in March for $65
2) I learned in May that U12 league it wasn't going to happen due to low enrollment.
3) I received an email with two options, move him to a younger group U10 or get $ back. I replied to everyone in that email that I wanted full reimbursement.
In September, I got a check for only $35 that was dated July.
I reviewed the fees for each age level on their website.
$35 for U10 and $65 for U12. The organization made a mistake so I emailed three people to bring it to their attention.
Two months passed, still no reimbursement so I emailed everyone again early November.
It's only $30 right? Let it go or find a different approach to get my payment back? I don't care of two of the officers dislike me, it's wrong how they are handling things.

I would continue to email/call them. You're not giving them $30 for nothing. |

Keep emailing and calling. If they do that to everybody they are stealing a LOT of money. Start telling them you won't be signing up for subsequent seasons u til you are properly, fully reimbursed.

I'd still be trying to get the rest of the money back. That is just not right.

No way should you be out $30.00. I would keep at it, if only for the principle of it. |

I would stop emailing and start calling.
There is no reason for you to eat that $30 IMO.

I would keep emailing and calling them until I got my $30. Daily until I got an answer. Is there anyone higher up on the chain of command that you can start cc ing on the messages? |

Yeah. This is a clerical error. I'd actually call and talk to a person. Get the name and find out how quickly you can get $30 back.
Then take yourself out for a nice manicure! |

while you are due your full refund, just remember the people who run these organizations are volunteers and most of them also have full time jobs. Got on their website and e-mail the treasurer directly if you can. Most of the time there is no phone number to call. Find out when their next board meeting is. Usually they have to have a few minutes open to the membership. Go to a meeting! THAT is your best bet for fast action. If the treasurer is there he can cut you a check right away. AND if you have all your emails take them with you.

Well, I once called and wrote a DR's office every month for 6 mo. just to get a $25 refund. So I would continue to hound them until I got the money! What finally did it for me was sending a certified letter in the mail (so I knew they got it) and gave them 5 business days to refund me my money or my next step would be filing a complaint with the Board of Healing Arts and the Attorney General's Office. I had my money within 3 or 4 days.
I would write them a letter, tell them specifically what you want and what the consequences will be if that does not happen. |

My internal hurdle is around $5 - $10. Anything over that is worth fighting for IMO. I would follow up.

Id pursue it as far as you can.
Is there some kind of chain that you can take things up if you don't get answers from the emails you've sent and are sending again?
Is there a telephone number you can call or office you can go into? |

You paid for something you never received. You should get it all back. |

Yep, go to the next board/committee meeting and talk to them in person. My dh works on these committees and they are notoriously slow and sometimes disorganized. It's probably just a matter of talking to the right person at the right time (ie when they have the checkbook in hand!).

Are they a "real" company, or a volunteer run organization? Either way, they should pay you back, but that may be why you're having trouble getting a response.

There's no way I would "donate" the $30 due me. I'm guessing there is a board, committee, rec group in charge of this league. Find out when there next board meeting is scheduled, attend and ask when your money will be refunded.

Thank you for your comments, suggestion and support
I called the Vice President and he said he would follow up with the President and the Treasurer. The Treasurer happens to live on my street so I called her just now. She said "ummmmmmmm.....(silence) Okay I will send it tomorrow"
We shall see if she really does send it tomorrow
Normally in situations like this, I just let it go if it was an organization that could use the money but not a sports organization as this one.

If she doesn't, call her back (from outside her front door), ask her is she's home and if she sent the check. When she says, again, I'll send it tomorrow, say "No need. I'm right outside your front door so you can just give it to me now!" |

Yep!
Maybe the treasurer treated herself to a manicure...on your dime.... |

Problem solved: The treasurer dropped off the check in my mailbox today! Yay, that phone call worked. THank you again for your help.
I really was torn on whether to let it go or pursue it.

glad you got your money. If it is $5-10 I might let it go, but $30 is enough to pursue.
