We got a good deal on a lightly used xbox 360 with kinect. It will be a Christmas gift. DD's been wanting one, her best friend has one so she's used it some (though not a ton as her bff is not a huge fan of it which annoys her as that's her only chance to play it lol). I'll have to ask her which games she plays there. But looking online it seems so many are violent, shoot up up or action/war type games. Even if they were age appropriate, that's not at all something that would appeal to her.

Dh and I are interested in some games ourselves. Him the driving games and myself the dance games. I think dd will like those too but are there any other types or specific games you can recommend?

I second both Adventures and the dance games.

We also have Disneyland and Kinectimals, and my kids like those but they are 5 and 7. I'm guessing they might be on the juvenile side for your DD.

I don't know about the Kinect games, but all the Lego games are fun, while the are still somewhat of a shooting game, they are not like "IRL" shooting games, and are more like adventure games, and are quite fun, even for adults.
They are Indiana Jones-1 & 2, Star Wars 1 - 3, Batman 1 & 2, Batman 2-this was is really fun since it has lot's of hero's you can be including ones that fly, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter 1 & 2 -I'd be willing to bet she would love this one as well. These are all LEGO games, be sure you ask for the LEGO titles, as some are also available with those titles that are NOT Lego games.

Thanks everyone. All of those look good.

And dd may be "too old" for the Kinectimals, however I know her animal loving, squealing over baby animal pictures, twelve year old self will love it!
