I am so embarrassed to say this. Last year I made an awesome spiral bound base album. I collected all my embellishments tools dies stamps and stuff and put them in a box.
The box has been sitting on my shelf *all year* and the album has been sitting on my desk getting in the way of my mouse *all year*!
Seriously. That is just crazy! I didn't even put it away *all year*! I just scoot it over and curse at it occasionally.
I started to make a page but then I had a scrapping existential crisis when I thought how boring my daily life is, lol!
So this year I think I will use the same album and instead if doing daily I will just do pages about Christmas things, maybe. Maybe Even spanning different years. |

I've got supplies ready. Will be starting this weekend.
My kids and DGD will be making their own DD this year with me too.
ETA: I don't think I'll have any Christmas supplies left when they get through with their albums though |

So tomorrow is December 1st!!!!
I made some foundation pages and cover. I am excited to print pictures and put them in. My album will cover from Thanksgiving to The Day of the Kings, as we celebrate that too.
How is everyone else doing?

I finished my base pages 2 days ago! I'm doing 8x8, in an old KI Memories album I have. (I posted to the gallery yesterday, if anyone's interested.)
This is my 1st one, and I'm really excited to get started tomorrow!
Question - for those that don't print photos at home, what's your strategy for printing for DD? |

A super kind pea sold me her SC December Daily album, so i'm using that. I'm using Ali's 4x6 templates and they're all printed out and my xmas stuff is in a cute box near my scrap desk waiting for me!
I'll likely take most of my photos with my iphone 5 as the camera is awesome and i always have it with me. i've kind of abandoned my bigger camera. just a pain. with photostream, i can easily access and instantly print anything from my phone. love the convenience and i hope it will make the task more doable for me!

I'm doing 8x8 and have cropped pp to start my foundation pages ... intended to be farther along by now, but life happens. =)
I don't print at home, and my strategy is to simply always use 1 or 2 4x6 prints, so I simply plan that space into my design.
I pre make journaling blocks as well; this year I'm using a combination of homemade starting with the 3x4 white Becky Higgins Project Life cards and some of Echo Park's 3x4 ones from last year - the line was Winter Park, I think? Blue/silver winter, non Christmas specific. Last year I used 4x6 journaling blocks, but found that was often more space than I needed, so this year I figure I'll just use 2 if it's a busy day!
I'm not going for strictly daily this year, so my approach was to make foundation spreads that I liked and then I'll put two related stories back to back, or one longer story.
Excited to get started - lots of fun events on for this weekend!

I have my cover ready - using the SN@P album and my order arrived this week with the Simple Stories Handmade Holiday papers and embellies...also got in 3 sets of AE Chrimstas stamp sets. Going to start assembling tomorrow, although I don't preplan too much since I like to have my photos before I put the page together. Last year I took the stress out of it and just journaled and snapped pics every day with my phone and then put it all together New Year's weekend!
This year I want to put ephemera in like movie tickets, receipts, etc. I have some specific Christmas related events but also do the everyday. Tomorrow Dec 1 I will take a pic of my daughter and and I finishing a 5K together and another of my little guy with his first dollar from the tooth fairy..shhhh..she's coming tonight! Oh and Elf returns tomorrow... busy night in my house!!

I won't premake the album or preplan pages. If I am going to be completely honest, I likely won't make the album at all! I will just collect stuff, take photos, and imagine how great the album would be if I actually put it together.
Yup
I did find and buy the binder I will be imagining myself using though - a Martha Stewart one I got at Staples... The red and turquoise go really well with the paper I've set aside...
To be fair though, this is the first year I'd ever heard of it and I thought it meant that you actually made a page a day so I don't have to start imagining myself making any of the pages until tomorrow... And even then, I only have to imagine making one page a day... If anyone would like to see my December Daily, it'll be on the shelf next to my Project Life... I used much the same technique with it also |

My first year(and I'm doing this! No giving up before I even start). I did get my album cover finished, but didn't premake any pages. Thanks to the flu and pneumonia I'm stuck sick the first week of dec. so what in the world am I going to journal about?! My kids and I have been sick for a week, so I have tons of housework to catch up on. So my first dd day is going to be about the flu & laundry? |

So excited about this project. I don't do a whole lot of pre-planned pages, but I do have the cover complete and a few pages ready to go without dates on them. That way I can put them in whatever order I choose. This is my third time doing this project. Fun to see all the covers together. Posted this on Instagram earlier:

I have my cover done! I didn't pre plan the inside pages...hope to do those as I go. But I'm using the OA Make it Merry mini album kit so should be pretty easy (or at least that is what I keep telling myself ) since those pages are so cute as they are already. |

You guys sound like you are off and running!
Amy - love your pictures, TFS.
MrsK, you can adapt your DD and not due the actual date thing, meaning one page per day. Many Peas are doing December to Remember type albums, or simple Christmas albums. I titled mine "The Magic of Christmas" so really anything works. Just focus on events you do do, and even if there are 2 or 3 things on one day spread them out on 2, 3 pages. Feel better soon!
Have fun ladies....would love to see some more pics.

My foundation is complete! I finished putting all of the pages together in Tuesday and can't wait to hit the ground running tomorrow.
My base is very simple. A 8.5 x 5.5" binder with the same size page protectors that hold patterned paper (an older BG line, had an entire 12x12 pad to use) and 4x6" page protectors to hold the AE December Daily templates that I pre-printed and decorated with washi. I also have empty pages meant to hold business cards on hand and plan to use one of those page per week (double sided will hold 7 small photos plus a journaling card) to document our Elf on the Shelf's antics.
I'll probably use mostly iPhone photos for this album and print them at home as I go. |

TexasJen-I don't print at home and I normally do most of my photos through Snapfish.
So the way I switch it up for DD is I usually print photos at Target. They are ready in an hour and it is convenient for me to get them about once a week while I am at work.
They are more expensive than Snapfish, but for one month I suck it up for convenience.
As far as my album goes, I have a cover page and my Christmas interview with my son done. I am so excited that the time has finally come to work on the album!!! |

Jaime-a Christmas interview sounds fun!
I get my pics at CVS for my DD, because it's close.
My album is a Recollections binder from M's, sort of like a Snap/Smash type album. I cover the front with Washi and Thickers.

I have my album put together, embellished along with the title page. I printed the foundation pages and will hope to cut them out and assemble them tonight when DH is at the hockey game and after the kiddos go to bed.
I was far more match-matchy the first DD I did two years ago. Last year and this, I will embellish as much as I can. I don't mind if the photos and the papers/embellishments don't match. Getting the stories told is my main goal. I found that focusing too much on perfection increased the likelihood that it turns into a December-Daily-to-to-be-finished-in-the-summer.
Getting as much done as possible makes it fun to just get pictures printed every few days and get the stories in there.
One thing, I am loving the simplicity of the 4x6 this year (I purchased the kit).

This is my first year doing DD ... really enjoying myself so far!
I am making my own using a Smash Book, my stamping supplies and some of my stash - although I did purchase a few things on sale to add to it.
My daughter is turning 4 in March, so this Christmas she is really getting into the holiday-themed activities. Fun to document! I have everything pretty much pre-planned but there is some flexibility. I have about half of my page bases pre-made - just working on embellishing the ones that I have pre-planned activities for.
So much fun! |

This is my first time attempting DD, as well. I decided only this afternoon to do it, and spent a while trying to decide if I should use what I have or buy MME 'All Is Bright'. Can't get it very quickly, though, so I'm working from my stash instead...
I'm keeping it in my PL album, which my New Year's Resolution is to FILL. Title page is done and I did today's pics!

This is my second year doing DD, my first was in 2010. I love that album because it shows our lives then... different home, fewer family members, different country (with different traditions)... so I really want to do a DD this year as it'll really show a lot of contrast (and a few similarities).
I didn't pre-make an album. I did last time, but since I can't print photos at home I found this extremely frustrating. This go 'round I'm posting daily photos and journalling on our family blog. I get photos printed quarterly, and will send them all out at the New Year. This means I'll have all my photos on hand to work with and I'll still have "in-the-moment" journalling. I do this with my regular pages all the time, too. It seems to be working for me.
The biggest challenge will be getting the words and photos up on the blog everyday. Day 1 down... 24 more to go. |

I started on Thanksgiving. So far so good. I usually do my journaling and save it on the computer and take my pictre if I'm usin one for that day. I upload them all on the weekend and will actually pick up this weeks today. So far I have only missed one day as there really wasn't anything going on, and I am ok with that. With starting when I did I think my book is going to be overflowing anyway.

Loved reading all your posts. Some made me laugh out loud, and many had me nodding in agreement.
Thanks to everyone who shared pix of their DD-they're all awesome!
I prepared one last year to document all of our traditions, but never added the photos! I was planning to do it this year, but we're now going to be out of town so it's no likely to happen until we are back in mid January.
I'm thinking I need to just make a quick journal-type book that I can carry along with me to document what we do each day while gone, then make a smaller DD album with that journaling and photos I take. We'll see how that turns out!
Best of luck to everyone in keeping up with this project and please share your work with all of us soon.
