Im going to attempt, AGAIN, to do project life for 2013. Im a SAHM with a 16 month old daughter and i think it would be something fun to look back on when she is older. That being said...
I have decided not to buy the kits, i plan on making my own. I have a ton of cute stamps that would be perfect for it and A TON of paper.

For those of you who have made your own, do you pre-make the pieces or do you sit and create when you have the pictures in hand?

I know for me, it might help keep me on track if i have the pieces already made but im afraid that i wont end up using them. Im afraid that when i print out my photos i'll end up making new pieces more themed to the photos.

I know im OVER analizing this but please help! Any advice? What has helped you stay on track?

I make my own 3x4 and 4x6 card inserts.

I use a lot of kraft or cream color paper, so I just cut that into the appropriate sizes and round off the corners. I make some slighter smaller and then I stamp on journaling lines.

I also cut up a lot of mat stacks that I had. That will leave a small rectangular strip of paper and I adhere that leftover piece to another piece.

Depending on the color of paper, I stick on my stickers (I have a lot of theme stickers) that seem harmonious in color.

If I don't use all of a 12x12 piece of paper, I immediately cut it into either/or 3x4 or 4x6 size.

I keep my journaling cards or inserts in these inexpensive desk organizers that I got on clearance at WM. I sort by color white, cream, kraft, and then ROY G BIV. For themed inserts or journaling cards, I cut some chipboard to size and then I stuck on those binder tabs that I got in the office supply aisle at WM.

I make my own PL cards and inserts at a much much much lower price.

I'm pretty ruthless when it comes to scraps, and since I have been making my own PL esque cards, I rarely have scraps.

I would love to get one of those library card drawers and keep my PL cards in those, I keep my eyes open

I made my own kits as well but kept it super simple. I do a week's worth of journaling on ONE card (4x6 lined notecard) that I can embellish. I use the WRMK divided page protectors as well. Have I kept up? No, I'm about 5 weeks behind. But it's not due to PL, it's due to real life!

I made all of the 4x6 date header cards ahead of time in neutral colors, and cut up all my journaling cards and put them in a box. Then each week I just need to decide on theme and colors, and grab stuff to match from these and my stash.

My only suggestion would be don't get too far ahead of yourself! When I first started I had a lot of ideas on what I would do--however, things evolve and later you might find a system that works for you that is different than what you originally thought.

Also, for me, those first few weeks took me so long to complete--I thought I could never keep this up all year, but I do things that work for me and I can do a week's photos fairly quickly. (I do take a photo every day).

I am wanting to do this next year. I am currenting holding a couple of swaps on the swapping board here to assist me with it this year.

I have been stock piling page protectors for it and have bought a couple of albums.

I am going to be doing 3 of them. Mine of course and then 1 for each of my 2 granddaughters. Mine will be more detailed and their's will each have a small amount of the event that they were present in. I am going back since they are so young and adding to it.....For example, I did them each a PL page for when I had their pics taken professionally last year. I figure since they are 4 and 3 I can do the hightlights of their little lives so far.

I hope I can keep up with 3 of them....we shall see.

I have alot of PL cards 3x4 and 4x6 in Kraft already started as well as I cut up scraps that were good but just sitting around. I have them ready to go also.

How do you join the 2P Facebook page....I sent a request do I need to do anything else?
