I am not making Christmas cards this year.
Once again, I didn't even think about it until now, middle of November.

I found a box of what I think are truly beautiful cards at Costco yesterday...I'll have to keep one of each aside for future reference!

They're made by Paper Magic Group, 4 designs, 6 of each for $15.

But there will be my own crafty gift tags on the presents!

I did photo Christmas cards last year (which i swore I would never do) and I am never going back to making my own Christmas cards! I loved how easy it was and that they actually got sent out. Many years my hand made ones never saw the outside of my craft room.

I made my first Christmas cards last year and made them again this year. I had a co-worker like the ones I did, she asked me to make hers also for this year. I already have plans for next year's cards. I really enjoyed making them especially since I don't really do anything else for Christmas.

I am a card maker more than a scrapbooker. Friends and family get handmade thank you, birthday, anniversary and thinking of you cards. But I NEVER do Christmas. It becomes a chore when making cards is usually my escape. I hate making so many of the same thing. And the last few years I have done photo cards too. I never got many comments on the handmade ones when I did them but everyone loves pics of the kids.
That makes my decision easy!
I think people appreciate handmade cards more when they aren't buried in the flood of a hundred cards, too. Even at birthdays people get fewer cards than at Christmas.

I thought about it, but I don't think it's going to happen this year. My MIL is in a rehab facility recovering from a stroke and I'm in charge of our ward Christmas party....too much going on! I think I am just going to do the Costco photo cards this year. I know it's cheating, but "oh well".

This will be the first Christmas since I started scrapping that I won't be doing Christmas cards. They just aren't fun for me and I feel like it's way too expensive. I made a few ultra special cards last year that were too thick for standard postage which I realized as I was making them. They fit into a regular envelope though so I did not know I'd have to send them as if they were a parcel! The postage cost $2.87 EACH for those cards!!! Never again. It will be photo cards for me this year, which I've never done so I'm excited for it.

I've made about nine Christmas cards so far. I didn't do any last year and I kind of missed it. I don't make all of mine the same, and I use a lot of stamps and scrap paper, plus I design them to fit in a standard size envelope, so it doesn't get very expensive.

However, I'm not above buying a box of some of the cool Grinch or Peanuts-themed cards I've seen in stores and sending those out when I run out of handmade cards (which I probably will, there are a lot more than nine people on my list!).

I don't make many Christmas LOs, so this gives me an excuse to still buy some of the fun holiday products on the market.

i attempted to do a 50 in 50 days card challenge a couple of years ago, which was fun, but the sketches used were all different sizes, then i couldn't find envelopes for them, so i gave up on making my own cards. i have ordered photo greeting cards this year and that's the way it will be this year...

I make all other cards besides Christmas cards. I love doing the photo cards of the kids with a christmas letter...A funny one, poking fun at the kids and myself...

I love making cards, but not in huge bulk, like Christmas cards would be. I may make a few, like maybe a set of 8 or so and send out just to the "close" relatives.

I gave up last year and did the photo cards. This was after doing increasingly more elaborate cards for many years. I usually do a top 10 list of our year to include with it. Now Shutterfly has the cards that list your top 5 or top 10. Sold!

My Dad has a small business and every yr he likes to give his clients something like a fruit basket. A few yrs ago, I discovered TH's 12 tags of Christmas and was playing around with them when Dad saw them. Every yr since then I've made between 50-75 tags for him.

I actually find it kind of soothing to create a look I like and then repeat it assembly line style over a couple of evenings. I think if I were making that many Christmas cards that I THEN had to address and send out - no way would it be "soothing"! LOL

Besides, I mostly LOVE that I can do something for my Daddy! When your folks are in their later 70s it gets harder and harder to know what to give them.

I've had mine done for about 6 weeks now. The one scrap site that I go on is having a Christmas card swap and so I made some different ones that I saw on pinterest and I like them more than the ones I had made So I think I have next year's picked out to make after Christmas is over!!

I'm thinking I will probably make maybe 10 or 12 at the most. I don't like making a mass quantity. That is not fun.

I've made my Christmas cards for years, but usually I don't get around to it and make them on about 20th December which is not great because it's too late to send them to anyone who isn't local.

This year I am very pleased with myself because I'm almost done already

I got a 64 sheet 6x6 Christmas pad, took one of each design out the pad for scrapbooking with and used the rest for cards. None are exact duplicates but I have made 4 or 5 of each design using slightly different papers and embellishments.

I have been thinking about it for quite awhile, but I probably should get started. I won't need to make too many.

If you enjoy making them then do but I don't see anything wrong with buying them most do - well of the few that actually send cards. I don't think buying cards is cheating at all. I made mine this year and I had a lot of fun but I only made a few of each design and I don't send out that many so it isn't a big deal. Now I just need to get them addressed and pick out some photos to go in them and get them mailed.

I discovered the photo card companies that actually stamp and send them out for you as well. That was the clincher for me. More time to scrap and bake cookies!

I've made about 15 so far and my SIL is coming up Thanksgiving night for a scrapping weekend and I'll finish up then.
I haven't sent cards these last two years since XH left - my heart just wasn't in it. But I wanted to do something special for my officers in my Eastern Star chapter, as well as my two district officers and my two state officers. That will be 22 cards total. Then I"ll do a few for some close family/friends.

I've made ours for many years now and sometimes I really enjoy it and some years I am ready to strangle the snowman, penguin or tree by the end! we have a large list, so it's a lot of work.

Last year I made 110 cards to send out and they waited for dh's Xmas letter which never got created. Uh yeah, not happy about that. But, the upside is that I have them made for this year and will write the letter myself so they can be sent out. I'm sure I'll enjoy the process of addressing and stamping this year more since the cards are already done.

I see nothing wrong with buying cards or making photo cards - it's the thought that counts, right?
