Oh, how fun! We live 8+ hours away from our nearest one...which is probably a good thing
I have this cart and LOVE it. It holds all my stamps and ink. Great to wheel right by your desk.
It also comes in turquoise. raskog
And of course every scrap room seems to have an

Have fun! |

I've been looking at the catalogue off and on today! We're getting one an hour away in 2 weeks!!!!!!
I love my raskog cart. I'd also check out the little potting containers and kitchen organizers for storage. |

I want that raskog cart so badly....looked at it several times.
I have the big expedit and love it. And I am with Marcy! Look in the sections you wouldn't naturally go to for craft storage. You might find something really cool that would be perfect to store all your ribbons or buttons of journal cards or etc etc etc |

That's just wrong, even if you only go to look at everything and not buy anything. However, you will find things to buy and/or get some great ideas!

I only live 15 minutes from one and rarely go there! I always hate that it takes forever to get around (and I tend to get lost - and I mean in the store, my sense of direction is realy THAT bad!).
I have the Lekkman (sp?) plastic storage boxes holding my patterned paper. |

The closest Ikea to me is about 3 hrs away... but it's worth the drive! LOVE that place!
On my last trip, I picked up the paper roll that's found in the children's department. It's perfect for my craft table because I can just tear off a sheet to protect everything from ink & glue, etc. I also got a desk lamp that clips onto the edge of my craft table. It's adjustable arm makes it easy to point light at my project, but then can be moved back to provide more space. The Raskog cart ROCKS! I found some white plastic bins (~13" wide) that hold my 6x6 paper pads perfectly. I believe they're intended to be used for recycling?
Have fun!!! |

Thanks scrappy. When I get new tires for my car, that's one trip I hope to make. Our local REMC does bus-trips once in awhile and I think that they went there last year or earlier this year, but I missed it. Let us know how much fun you have and what you bought! Maria

I have 3 of the Benno DVD storage towers for my Sizzix dies and my large wood mounted background stamps. It works amazingly well and it is much cheaper that other die storage units. The Benno also holds close to a 100 dies depending on what sizes you have, Ikea Benno |

I live about 15 minutes from one and go about once a month. When DH and I were getting a few new storage pieces a couple months ago we made 5 trips in 2 weeks.
I love this letter tray for storing my ink pads Letter Tray
Do not buy their desk mat thing. It's $20 but after just 2 months of regular use I cracked under the weight of me + chair. That can't be more then 120 pounds. |

I live 45 min or so from the one by the Mall of Am. When it first opened years ago, I didn't like much. But as their products have changed and my style has a bit, I have been there many, many times. Before they remodeled the store, I could whiz through there and knew where all the shortcuts were. Once you figure out the layout, it's a breeze. Even my littlest loves going. He asked for a mama day for just he and I and asked to go to IKEA.

I love the Raskog cart but it is not in my area store...I have a swivel rolling chair from there and 2 rail systems. I am also thinking I will go & get a tabletop so I can use my Target cubes as the base for my table and free up space in my room. I also have an Alex cart that I love!!! Have fun! |

I live about 20 minutes from one.
I don't like that it tajes so long together around when I'm inky there for one or two things. There are short cuts around. Ask an employee if you don't find them.
One if ours is through the door by the kid area. Takes you right into housewares you can skip the whole furniture area.

They have wooden spice racks that are perfect for storing mists, paint, washi tape, mini books, glitter, etc.
Those are on my list for my next ikea trip

I love the smell of card stock in the morning.....
The Movie poster that is my avatar is very special cause my husband is in it and it won best film at the Canadian Film Festival in 2012. See it......It's super funny.

I have a lot of Ikea in my scraproom too. I have a desk I bought 12 years ago from their office department. It was called "Effektiv". I adore my desk. It's a modular system and I added pieces so that I have a corner piece with a curved area where my chair sits, and then a rectangle piece to the left and another on the right. It gives me lots of room to spread out while scrapping.
At the same time I bought 4 bookcases to match, and a circular conference table with 4 chairs. The chairs are now in the closet and I'm thinking about using risers on the legs of the table so that it can be counter height, and then use it for cutting and stamping.
I love the Alex drawers and will buy them one day to replace the plastic 6 drawer Iris carts that I bought years ago. I live about 45 minutes from Ikea.
It's a great idea to look at everything from a "how can I use this for scrap storage" perspective, instead of just buying because the product is intended for scrap storage. My advice-take some photos of your scraproom now and take them with you. Look around at what needs organization and make a list. That way once you get there you won't feel overwhelmed.
Juliestamps-what a great idea to use the children's drawing paper roll for working on to protect your desk. Fabulous idea! I think I'll pick one up too next time I am there.

There is a website that shows how you can alter Ikea furniture to make other things, but I have forgotten what it's called. Does anyone else remember?

Almost every item in my craft room/office is from IKEA. If you go to my gallery you'll see my latest space, with an Expedit (filled, of course!), a desk, a work table and lots of storage items.
I recommend visiting the kid, media, kitchen and bathroom departments as they carry many fun items. I picked up some fun plastic stencils last time-they're in the kitchen dept. with the holiday stuff.
As for working your way around the store, every dept. has shortcuts to other depts. It pays to learn them! You can see them on the signs hanging from the ceiling. BTW, the organization dept. is just inside the exit in my store, so I often slip in the exit when grabbing only something from there.
Have fun shopping! |
