When I was a teenager, we got into the habit of microwaving a Ding Dong for about 20 seconds. It kind of melted the filling and turned the frosting really fudgy. Yum! I don't think I've had one since then. I may have to look for a box before they disappear! |

As a kid ding dongs and twinkies. As an adult suzy qs and snowballs. I still will eat one as a special treat. It isn't yummy bakery chocolate cake, but sometimes they hit the right spot in deliciousness.

Elizabeth! (eebud), I didn't know you liked the orange Hostess Cupcakes too!
The nearest place I can get them is 45 miles away... so I don't guess I'll even get to savor a LAST orange cupcake. I've had SUCH a hard time the last 22 years getting them. I got them from the Dallas bakery (I lived in north Louisiana and then in the DFW area) for years.
Moved HERE and they got them from the Denver bakery and I could never get them unless I visited Texas. Moved to Colorado and I was at a convenience store when the Hostess guy was making a delivery and asked why I couldn't find them. He told me that his bakery hadn't made them for years and that New Mexico Hostess came from there. A relative came to visit from Louisiana and bought me a bunch!
Went to Phoenix and bought packages and packages! Boy, did I gain a few pounds! When I moved back here, we are now getting them, I think from Los Angeles but NOT in my town. It is hit and miss in Alamogordo so I only get them a few times a year... I can duplicate the cake and center but have never found a good copycat recipe for the orange frosting... |

After reading some other posts and realizing that zingers belong to Hostess...
I will add that I will also miss raspberry zingers
Also I forgot my ever fav Chocodiles. They are chocolate enrobed (think ding dong chocolate) twinkies on steroids (meaning they are supersized). They are only sold at gas stations and they are only sold as singles. Oh so yummy!

Hostess cupcakes. I had a strategic way of eating them when I was a kid. Okay, I still have a strategic way of eating them. I remember when I told my dad as a little girl that I would never eat eggs and then saw that eggs were an ingredient in Twinkies. I tried to hold out (from eating them) but only lasted a few months. |

Angel food loaf it is so good and just the fight texture. The only place I have seen them is at a outlet about 30 minutes from our home but I use to stock up on them and freeze a couple. Outside of that we rarely bought anything Hostess. Sad for all the jobs lost and lives impacted.

I think the only thing I ever liked was the orange cupcakes, but I bet i've not had them in over 15 years or more.
I always want to eat a pink Sno Ball, they look so good, but I don't like them at all. I actually get one about once a year and open it, take a nibble of the top of the coconut & marshmellow & then give it to my dh. |
