Ok at the risk of being kicked off this message board, I have to get this off my chest.
I have never made one single Christmas layout. I have never scrapped a Christmas photo.
There I said it.
Christmas is like my kryptonite for some reason. I buy Christmas paper and embellies every year. And take tons of pics through the season. But have never been able to make a layout. But this year I am bound and determined to confront my fear. I've bought two december daily kits, tons of other product and have printed all the pics from 2008-2011 Christmas events. This year it will be made, oh yes, it will be made.

That's it. Get out now.

Scrap what makes you happy. I, personally, am not a Christmas person. However, I do have a few LO's here and there for the benefit of our DD. But I don't have whole albums devoted to the holiday. It doesn't make my heart go pitter-patter.

You are not the only one! I think I have maybe...maybe...five Christmas layouts in my 8 years of scrapbooks. But, I have never bought any of the paper cause I don't like it. However, I jumped on the Chritsmas paper train and ordered a couple collections I really liked to use for my three kids' albums PLUS my PL album.

I think the reason I don't scrap Christmas is because the pictures are not so good. The light is dim. Many times we go to my MIL house and she has wood paneling and it is dim there. SOOOOOO, I have made up my mind that this year, even if I have to "stage" some photo shoots, I am going to get GOOD pictures so I will be inspired to scrap them.

Maybe if you can figure out why you don't scrap Christmas, you can work around it. Another thing for me is, I am so busy during Christmas, that once I get the photos back, I am sick of the holidays...lol Since I am home next week, I plan on sitting down and pre-making some layouts for Christmas. That way, I will just need to find a photo to place on it. Sometimes, I order my Christmas pictures in black and white so they will match my paper. A lot of times the kids are in pink and orange and the wrapping paper is green, gold and red and my walls in the living room are an olive color...yeah, that doesn't make a pretty layout....hehe

Hope you find your Christmas mojo!

I figured out why I don't scrap it years ago. I looooove Christmas and all of our family traditions! And I want them to be perfect! But I've finally overcome that hang up. I'm freaking doing it!! And I'm starting tonight! Bwhahahahaha and HO HO HO.

I'm right with you!

First year I tried making a Christmas mini album. There is no other way to describe it but honestly, I felt claustrophobic even trying to make it. I could throw it in the trash today and not bat an eyelash.

So because of that, the second year I only did 1 Christmas layout using a simple stories page that's split into the six 4x6 cards. I just taped 2 pictures down over 2 of the cards and called it a day. I don't like the layout, but it's a start. (and that 1 pp was the only Christmas supply I bought last year)

This year? What the heck is wrong with me! I've ordered BG Aspen Frost, the SC christmas line, AND the OA christmas line. plus other random holiday embellishments. I have no idea why I think this year is going to be different. But with the amount of Christmas product I've purchased, I better be a Christmas scrapping fool!

I think I'm doing a little better than you are. I have a serious aversion to Christmas LO's too. I've scrapped all 10 years of Halloween but I think I have maybe 2 Christmas Day LO's completed. And to be completely truthful, those were made just recently. I also have the same problem with my DD's birthdays. I figure eventually I get to them.

Heck yea...right now it looks like Rudolph just dropped nuggets of Christmas joy all over my scrap room. There is red and green and blue paper everywhere!!

This is a hang up for me too, black and white is a really good idea. I don't see when people go to Christmas events they can't dress appropriately for my picture taking purposes. I mean who goes to a Christmas Tea and wears orange and purple? Really?

Besides...you buy so much stuff, I'm coming to your house on my next road trip!!! LOL!!!!

Having said that...I don't think I've scrapped x-mas very much either...maybe 3 lo's in all my years? I think that's why I've enjoyed DD so much...

LOL. Spoken like a true scrapbooker.

I am obsessed with Christmas. OBSESSED. As in, I own at least 10 Christmas movies and will watch ALL of them multiple times, most years I re-read A Christmas Carol, Christmas is my favorite music genre, etc.

BUT, although Christmas is hands down my favorite holiday, I don't really do any Christmas LOs. I barely have any Christmas product in my stash. Who knows why. Maybe it's my stage in life...it's usually just my parents and I or maybe my sister. I don't spend it with my bf, who isn't really that into Christmas anyways, and 95% of the LOs are scrap are for our album. I'm sure that once I have kids I will be, as someone else said, a Christmas scrappin' fool For now, I will stick to churning out Christmas cards instead!

I hear you!
I wasn't planning on doing anything but my PL and I did great about not buying a bunch of stuff.
Then the Christmas gift planning hit full swing, the music is on the radio and there is just too much enabling going on so I am going to try a December Daily for the first time.
Here's to successful holiday scrapping!

I have done 1 Christmas LO.

My problem is the photos are so bad.

I try to get a good spot for taking photos of the unwrapping but they never turn out good and the kids are a mess by then anyway

The tree is in the wrong corner for taking pictures with the kids by the tree

my mom's dining room is 1980s mauve floral stripe wall paper so the dinner photos suck

My DGS has sensitivity issues so about the only thing he can stand to wear is a sweatshirt

I love scrapping Christmas pictures! I have learned to overlook some of the crazy colors that some of my extended family wear to our Christmas gathering. I actually make 2 copies of each Christmas LO and put one copy in a book for my Mom. It is so much fun looking at how all of the kids have changed over the years.

You can do it! Scrap some of those Christmas pictures!

I'm getting ready to eat my extremely healthy meal from Taco Bueno, then it's on like Donkey Kong. I'm locking myself in the scrap room and putting Christmas Vacation in the DVD player.
Thanks for all the support. I Peas

I am obsessed with Christmas. OBSESSED
, me, too.

My son is 12yo and I think i scrapped the first two months of his life, but I am totally up-to-date on my Christmas album!

I love Christmas papers. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I feel slightly hysterical I am up-to-date and cannot buy any more paper. I pretty much have enough for the next 30 years.

As for those jolting colors? I wish wish WISH I could color coordinate my kids like I used to! Stinking adolescents!

Now I feel like going to ooh over my Christmas paper! I will ignore the 12 years of unfinished photos for my "real" life next to them!

I've been trying to get my Christmas mojo back as well. I've never been into product "lines". I just buy what visually appeals to me.
I don't even think I took any photos last year. This Christmas will be the third one since XH walked out. My mom, sister and one of DS's friends always comes up the Saturday before the actual day and we have our Christmas. I need to take photos this year. My Christmas albums were always up to date, but I still have photos from 2010 that I haven't even printed. And I LOVE Christmas. I love decorating and cooking and all that. But alot of my inner joy is gone. Maybe if I get those pics printed and buy some new pretty papers, I'll find my Christmas mojo again.

I have a hard time scrapping Christmas too!! It's my birthday and all of my layouts tend to look too birthday-ish. I love the reason for the season and I love the traditions too but I want it to look Christmassy. I too will try to tackle it this year head on.

I feel ya. I've only ever scrapped one Christmas layout, and that was because it was part of a kit that we did in a class (it was of the tree, so no people in it).

It just feels FORCED to do all these layouts about "aren't we merry" and me holding up a present and acting happy. Weird. But this year I am going to attempt Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas and I am ready to RECLAIM joy. I got out my Christmas stash and all there was in the box was a bunch of ribbon and two page kits I bought at a MAMBI warehouse sale four years ago. Yikes. So, Two Peas to the rescue! I now own a TON of Christmas stuff (Crate Paper, OA, oh yea!) and I am gonna scrap every day next week come Hell or High Water and then JYC if it kills me.

Let's DO this Christmas, I am ready to TAKE BACK CHRISTMAS!

But Heidi Swapp said on paperclipping roundtable she doesn't like it either. So, you are in good company.

I love Christmas! It has always been a huge celebratory time in my family. But, also a time of stress, mostly because everyone wants it to be so "perfect." DH and his family are less into it, but they are also more relaxed about it, which has helped me to relax a bit. I do think that coming from a home where parents are divorced creates extra strain - trying to fit in visits to each parent's home is always a stresser.

I have tons of Xmas supplies, but am usually so busy around that time of year that I don't take the time to do much with them. Last year I vowed to make my DD album and I succeeded. But, it has not one photo in it! Yup, made the album (and love how it came out), but never did print the pix from last year and put them in the album.

I had planned to use it for this year's celebration, but we are now going to be out in CA over the holidays - we're house-sitting for friends. It's unlikely we'll even have a tree.

I informed DH that we WILL be partaking in some holiday events while we're out there as I was super excited about getting the tree and decorating it this year and that's now out. He's up for it so we'll hopefully be in the spirit of the season and take some fun shots. I am also hoping to visit Disneyland while we're out in CA - love seeing it all decorated for the holidays! If nothing else, we'll have shots of us on the beach on New Year's Day, a tradition we maintained when we lived in CA.

Here's to everyone having a great holiday season, and to your family and friends being mindful of wearing the right colors for your layouts!

Well I got my Christmas on Friday night. Finished about 6 pages of a December daily album. Felt good! Today I strung lights on the house and tools some pics so that'll be day one in this album. Tonight after dinner and laundry hopefully I can get anew more pages done. Take that Christmas!

If it weren't for Christmas and my wedding I would have barely any photos to scrap. I'm not quite in the habit of taking many pictures.

I scrap my Christmas pictures on non holiday papers and journal about non holiday memories. (Gasp) Christmas is the only time I get photos of some of these people...I use those pictures wherever I can throughout the year.

There are probably a lot of scrappers that are in the same boat as you. I've been scrapping for almost 13 years, and I think I've scrapped a total of about 4 Christmas LOs! I think I'm one who wants perfection (with non-perfect photos), and then I'm always afraid I'll find "better" papers. LOL

Between the 3 kiddos, I usually have about 30 pages of Christmas layouts each year.
