That thread was devoted to President Obama, and I didn't want to detract from that. But, it got me thinking about other presidents and I went hunting for pics of them with children. So far I've found these of GW Bush.
I'm hoping others will post pictures of their favorite presidents just being regular guys. I just think it's nice to see a softer side of these men. We can disagree vehemently on politics, but it's nice to be reminded that at the end of the day, they really are an awful lot like us.

That last one with the crying baby is a classic.
I think for most politicians, there is a soft side to them. I'm guessing to be effective you have to be a pit-bull to make your way around Washington D.C. Take Paul Ryan for example. I'm not a fan, but in the interviews that I have seen where questions are asked about his family, you can see his face light up. To me, he's a pit bull in Congress. But IRL, around family, he is probably a marshmallow and his wife I'm sure wears the pants in their family. |

That thread was devoted to President Obama, and I didn't want to detract from that.
was this (below) really necessary? If you don't like President Bush, why not go to the other thread?

I grew up around a lot of "famous" people. When we have those "Who do you know that's famous?" threads, I don't participate because it would seem very over-the-top. Not bragging ... just the facts.
One example: (John Wayne's kids) Ethan Wayne was my classmate. Aissa Wayne was, and still is, one of my sister's best friends. Buddy Ebsen's wife threw my mom's baby shower when she was pregnant with my sister....
Anyway... my point is... "famous" people ARE *regular* people. Truly. I know that the "public persona" expectation is a part of their station/choice, but I feel very sorry for most of them.

Are you freaking kidding me? Get over yourself.
President Obama is a warm and kind hearted man. So is George W. Bush. I am searching for similar pictures of other presidents and in the OP invited others to do the same and post them. This thread was meant to be a nice way of looking at the softer side of our presidents regardless of party. Thanks for pissing on the party.

We have often asserted and we affirm it yet again that no fact in history is better attested than the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. It must not be denied by any who are willing to pay the slightest respect to the testimony of their fellow men. That Jesus, who died upon the cross, and was buried in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea, did literally rise again from the dead. (excerpted from Dance Your Shoes Off, Second Baptist Church)

PePea, I just have to say, you have one of the biggest chips on your shoulder that I have ever encountered. It's sad really how you have to take the most positive things, the efforts of people to be kind, and to twist them into something ugly. Regarding this
The picture of him with the screaming baby cracks me up. It's seeing things like that which makes me think he would be such a fun guy to hang out with and chat. I have always had the impression that he has a goofy frat boy sense of humor and would be a practical joker. As the only female in a house full of goofy frat boys, I totally appreciate that!
I had occasion to meet former President Bush when he was still the Governor of Texas. At the time, I was doing one of those Flat Stanley projects for a kid, except with this funny looking purple bear.
I approached his security detail to ask if he would take a photo with the bear. He agreed!
It was the days before I had a digital camera and as I snapped a picture (with shaking hands), the Governor said in his Texas drawl "You'd best take another one. I think you cut my head off." I complied.
Everyone laughed and sure enough when I got those photos developed, I had cut his head off.
I'll never forget how approachable he was and how he took time out to do that even though the child wasn't present (and I don't make a good photo op).
