Why are they so expensive?? Are they truly worth the price?? What do y'all use them for?

They are refillable and really high quality. I think you get what you pay for. They are great for coloring... I started with skin tones and worked my way up.
Also, you can usually use a coupon or wait for sales.

Nicole, I have been looking for something like this. Is there a way to make it bigger? I can't see the color numbers. Thanks! |

Yes, they are worth it. They're so expensive because they're high quality artist markers directly from Japan. They're refillable, they last a long time (3 years on a shelf with no use), they're durable, the nibs are replaceable, and they colour in a way that does not leave "marker streaks" like a lot of other markers do. If you check out my blog, Copics are all I use on pretty much every project I create. And I, frankly, suck. These markers can make anyone look good and they're very easy to use. I enjoy my crafting 100% more since I got my markers. |

They blend beautifully like nothing else. I have used them in combination with colored pencils which helps you stretch out your colors.
I heard the price might be going up first of the year but haven't had it confirmed as of yet. |

To confirm for Dictionary, yes, prices are going up in the new year. They do every year it seems. I'm hoping they're also adding 12 new Sketch colours again this year (as with the 2012 and 2011), but they like to keep that hush hush.
As for tutorials, there's craploads of them. Heck, I've even made a few myself (available on my site). Everyone has a different way of colouring that works for them. It IS an art after all. Basically try to fill your brain up with as much info as you can get, then pick and choose what you want to follow. There's no wrong way to colour as long as YOU like it. If you're not enjoying what you're colouring, or looking longingly at others as I do, then that's when you need to keep on learning and watching how it's done by those you admire. |
