* pardon typos and the haphazzard way this came out..I am still very angry*

First, I would like to preface this with the fact that I have been on meds for the last 2 weeks for a sinus/ear infection THEN..strep. So I feel awesome and have to leave tomorrow night going to the inlaws ...enough said...so on to the story..

Three of the kids take meds. Dropped off the hard scripts on Saturday. Was going to pick up yesterday but it was pouring rain so I didn't. Went earlier today and they weren't ready, was told to come back. Went back at 6 pm. Now I live with in a 3 min drive of the pharmacy if the light doesn't catch me.
I am in my jammies..so went to the drive-thru obviously. I waited for 20 mins then pulled up to the window...she tells me she needs to rebill one thing for the insurance b/c it was a new prescription for DS 12..pull around and she will do that. OK. I understand. I was frustrated but whatever. OR I can come inside. I said I am in my jammies that's why I am at the window and LOL'd. I get back in line..behind 5 cars..wait ANOTHER 20 mins and this stupid girl walks around for about 5 mins twirling her hair with her fingers in her mouth looking for my dd's medication. THEN comes back to the window and says " The pharmacist has to check off on the narcotic ( Concerta), you need to pull around." I said..." "no, I have already pulled around once..I have been here twice already to pick these up, I can wait, there are now too many cars to see how many behind me..I will wait" then she said "NO, you can't wait here, You need to move, you can't block the window" I said " umm I have waited for over 40 mins, you KNEW to get that prescription filled" ..She said " you can't legally block this window, MOVE NOW!" I said.."NO, I would like to see the manager" THEN she yells..

" Then I will call the police" and slams the window. WTH??
So I pull around and go inside at this point...IN my polka dotted jammies with my head full of long hair all lopped up on my head and my glasses on.... PISSED off.
I asked if I could see the manager, who wasn't there but a very nice older lady was..the assistant manager who wrote dow all the info for me when I told her what was going on. She walked back with me and asked for the pharmacist..at this point the girl then yells that she had already TOLD ME I HAD TO WAIT..and continued to yell at the lasy helping me. I said " excuse me, please don't speak to me again" ( but she kept running her mouth and I said nothing else back to her at this point) Then the pharmacist came and appologized. I said I have been here twice today..and told him what just happend and said " She threatened to call the police on a customer??" He walked back, got the meds, and the girl was STILL TRYING TO EXPLAIN...He said something ( that I couldn't hear) and I didn't see her anymore while I was there. I got the meds and got home and realized that it was missing TWO prescritions...!!!!!!! This whole ordeal took a little over an HOUR. AN HOUR!!!
I am so mad right now I don't know what to do.I tried the HR # but they aren't in right now..but I will call tomorrow..

anyone else ever had anyone working somewhere be this rude to them?? I am so frustrated right now. I called back about the 2 missing prescriptions and told them I would just be there tomorrow ..I will get my husband to go..I don't want to.

OK..so I called both the HR department and the store this morning. I was apologized to on all fronts and told to expect a call from the District. mngr. The store manager said she was so embarrased and would talk to the pharmacy team and call me back. I told them I was quite humiliated because I was sure the people standing inside the pharmacy thought I was trying to rob them..why else would the police be needed? I was also told that I should NOT have been asked to drive up a second time, that she should have pulled ALL the scripts the FIRST time and had the narcotic ready in that 20 minutes I waited the second time.

I had a scary thought though..what if this chic loses her job? She has access to all of my information..my address and phone number? I hope this doesn't get any worse..I just can't take all of it.

Thanks for all the support..I am happy knowing I am not the only person thinking this was just wrong on all levels. I will update when I hear from the managers..I was told it may be next week before I hear from the district one b/c of the holiday. .....

Wow -- just Wow!!! I would be beyond LIVID! I would probably have gone back today; BUT, everyone in the place would know I was there and why!! I am NOT a quite person when I get mad.

I would also question the manager about the loud mouth that yelled at me. She needs to be dressed down and should make an appology to you.

What a mess. On top of you don't feel well.
Find another drive-thru pharmacy. I wouldn't give them another dime of my money. Not a dime.

Pharmacys are always crazy. So many rules, grouchy sick people...

I once asked a pharm tech at CVS if ahe had any idea why the month to month cost of my rx had doubled and she yelled at me to blame President Bush.

I go to Kmart--no drive up, but they mail for free, and ours will deliver the same day (around 6:00 p.m.) as well.

ETA: What would I do? Change pharmacies. Call to have my Rx's transferred, and let the manager/pharmacist know why.

What a terrible ordeal. I would ask tomorrow to speak to the pharmacist again and explain that the entire incident has made you feel uncomfortable about coming in and repeatedly encountering that girl, that I hoped he would understand if I deided to transfer to another pharmacy. His response should be that she no longer works in their store.

I'm sure you are not the only person she has been rude to and is gone so you can continue using the pharmacy so close to your house.

Thanks ladies! I am honestly still kinda shocked..and my anxiety is thru the roof. This was CVS ,it's the only "chain" pharmacy we have in town and is literally..3 mins from my house. It's a huge convenience for us. I can walk there if I need to. I will look into some of the mom and pop drug stores next week. We live in a very tiny coastal town..not much competition for CVS..but as soon as I can find a new one and transfer our stuff..I will. It was humiliating for an employee to pick up the phone to call the police in front of other customers..the ones inside. Blech.I didn't need this tonight for sure.

i was also going to ask if it was walgreens? wow, that is just ridiculous. and kudos to you for going in there in your jammies... I switched to publix, cheaper and easier...however, two weeks ago, while driving by the drive thru pharmacy window at my publix, i saw a car facing the wrong way picking up a prescription, his passenger door window was open and he appeared to be yelling into the pharmacy tech....good lord... there is only one lane, and its one way in and one way out.. i would calling the higher ups at whatever pharmacy you visited, that is so not acceptable.

You mean to tell me that after all of that and they didn't review all the medications in the bag, especially since at least one of them is new and is considered a narcotic? That's when the missing meds should have been caught.

I'd be more than pissed about everything before that, but not reviewing the meds with you is really bad.

I would be having a call with corporate or the owner.

Time for a new, kinder, gentler pharmacy.

As a side note, whenever a bombastic employee threatens to call the PD on me, for whatever, I always smile and say "go right ahead, call the police." So far, no one has ever followed through on the threat.

Yeah, that is insanely ridiculous. I would so be getting a new pharmacy, and yes, I have been treated just as absurdly and it was on the phone!
I was trying to reschedule and appt and I was frustrated b/c the place had already transferred me 3 times by that point and I was so annoyed that I could barely refrain from completely going off. I guess I was bad b/c then she tells me I needed a time out. Yeah, she did. So she hung up and told me that I should call back. The lady put me on hold and she'd get back to me. When she came back she asked me if I was ready. I said, no b/c NOW I am even more annoyed and asked why it's so complicated to reschedule and appt. Seriously? Is it that hard to do your job?

I had another lady at the same place tell me I needed a better attitude. Well considering I was in pain, standing in line for more than a half hour AND also dealt with them conveniently losing my papers, I can't see how I shouldn't be anything but annoyed with these people.

This just happened recently...I called to make an appt with my GP b/c of some allergy issue. Was told I had to come to urgent care. For what? Finally eventually I found out my GP was off and that's why they told me that. The way it was worded was weird and didn't make any sense. Annoyed, I just said forget it. Well I ended up with something else going on so I ended up going to urgent care anyway. I get triaged, and in the middle of her asking me what I was there for, she walks away. Yeah, nurse walks away WHILE I was talking. I reported her butt too, and I know she knew she was in trouble b/c she came back to ask me about 100 times if I was okay or did I need anything. Please!
A few days later I had to go there again and for the most part I was treated okay, except when I signed in, I waited for the paper I needed for the triage people and they all looked at me like I was insane. Um, how hard is it to do your job? Later on, I wanted to ask a question and was told I had to go to the sign in thing to ask. Um, I am there b/c I am sick--do I really need to walk all over the place--and of course no one wanted to answer my question. While I was there, the supervisor called and I told her everything that had happened and I am having a hard time calming down b/c it happens ALL the time. I know for a fact I am not the only one with this problem b/c I see others being treated likewise or other patients ask what's up. Needless to say, I feel your pain! I cannot figure out for the life of me how people can hold a job that treat their customers so horribly.

I am sure it's sometimes emotionally draining b/c they deal with sometimes very sick people but good grief a little compassion would help. The supervisor did say that she would have a meeting to remind people on how to behave---my suggestions were to first acknowledge that someone is standing there. I am perfectly willing to wait a minute or 2 if they were to just say something like, "Hi, I will be with you in just a minute." Me: Ok, no problem. How hard is that!?

Wow! I would be ticked!

I would not stop calling the corporate office until a report was made. Reason being, the store manager may try to diffuse the situation and give her a chance without following through with disciplinary paperwork or termination. By going through corporate first, he AND his district manager will know, and he'll be forced to file paperwork or fire her because of pressure from above.

Do not stop calling.

And don't write off an entire pharmacy because of one loon. Obviously the lady and manager were on your side and equally flabbergasted. It will only be a matter of time (minutes even) before she doesn't work there anymore.

That's horrible! Definitely follow up - that sort of thing could have easily triggered a panic attack for me (yelled at in public, stuck in a line up for a long time, and being threatened with the police would do it), so they're extremely they weren't the cause of a medical problem for someone...

When my fries aren't ready at McDonalds they ask me to park and THEY bring them out to me... Who knew McD's was the gold standard of drive thru service?

Yeah, I would just change pharmacies ASAP after you pick up your 2 missing prescriptions. Holy hell would have been/be pissed off. I cannot believe that.

For what it's worth, we used to go to an independent family owned pharmacy in a small town in MI. They were absolutely fantastic. They treated us very well every time we went in (which was often because we were sick a lot).

I have had almost exactly the same experience at my Rite Aid, and they have messed up my refills every single time I've been in and been horribly rude to me. I recently left and transferred everything. I just got coupons for $100 to switch back and I intend to vent to them and tell them exactly why I will not be back.

Good customer service is so rare nowadays.

I had a gum-smacking cashier treat me like I was doing something illegal because I handed her 10 coupons... some were store and some were manufacturer and she tried to tell me that I couldn't use them on the same item.

Once she raised her voice to me I told her to call the manger and told him how she treated me and she stood there rolling her eyes while I talked... in front of him! I told her to stop rolling her eyes!

I wish employers had the gumption to fire people who can't do their job correctly and politely!

Oh man. Yep.. I'd definitely change pharmacies and I would let the manager know exactly why you won't be back. I would want heads on a platter for not only the delay, but to be spoken to the way you were by the one girl, and THEN to not even get all of your prescriptions. I hope the ones you got were correct! They sound completely incompetent.

Wow! I an imagine how angry you were. And rightly so. There's NEVER an excuse to treat a customer like that.

I used to use the pharmacy at CVS. The last time I was there they lost my prescription. When I went to pick it up they accused me of not dropping it off.

I came right home and called their 800 number and complained. Long story short, they gave me a gift card in the amount of my prescriptions.

If I were you I would complain to corporate. The woman who treatened to call the police on you, she should be fired. The way she treated you was completely unacceptable.

Not being one who takes medications and doesn't have them filled with any sort of regularity, I wonder why you didn't call to be sure they were ready. Isn't that SOP? Not that I'm glossing over the bitchtastic attitude from the girl there.

Switch to a mom-and-pop! We had trouble with two different chain pharmacies keeping my kid's monthly meds in stock. We switched to a stand-alone pharmacy in the neighborhood. I don't know where the owners were born, but they speak Arabic - and also fluent Spanish and English. They are super warm and friendly to everyone from sick, cranky 20somethings to half-deaf little old ladies.

And did I mention they keep our monthly meds in stock?

Sister, it hasn't been SOP for any pharmacy I've ever used. If they tell me the scrip will be ready by Wednesday at 2PM, then I have every expectation that it will be ready when I arrive at 3PM. I have never had the terrible service described here by others. Guess I'm lucky in that regard.

Sometimes the mom and pop pharmacy are the best. We used one when I was in HS. We knew the pharmacist on a first name basis.

I'm glad you're still gonna call the HR number. Please let them know how bad you were treated before you change.

I figured it was probably Walgreens. We had one less than 5 minutes from our house. It was a nightmare 90% of the time to have to deal with their pharmacy. We switched to Target and while they aren't the best, they are pretty good.

There is more of a local one in our local market in the next town, we thought about switching there.

Maybe different because I'm in Canada, but no pharmacy here ever needs you to call.

In fact, if I drop it off in person and want to wait, they will give me a buzzer to wander around the store with, that will go off when it is ready. Pretty much most of the time, if I call in or drop off a script, then the medication is ready for pick up same day - not several days later.

The last straw would have been not receiving all of the prescriptions.

Not only would I complain to the manager(s) at that location I would also be contacting (calling) corporate to voice my dissatisfaction. The worker had no excuse to act in that manner!

We've never had positive experiences at CVS or Walgreens pharmacies. Thankfully we found a family owned pharmacy about 10+ years ago. They greet us by name, offer to deliver if it's needed and are more than willing to go above and beyond the level of customer service.

You have every right to be Pea Livid. Poor thing, to be so sick, trying to get your children's meds taken care of and to be treated horribly.

I've never had that kind of issue. At my pharmacy, if I drop off a prescription, I'm given a timeframe in which it will be ready. If its called in or sent in, I can expect it to be ready within the hour. If its not, they'll call and let me know.

Sounds like that girl needs to take a Paxil herself. And then be sent home. Permanently.

Been there, done that and the last straw was when my DH needed pain pills *BAD*. We waited over 2 hours to get them and then they were the wrong kind.

I found a new pharmacy...Kroger..I just love them and have never looked back.

I'd be furious -- that's outrageous customer service.

I'm lucky. My CVS has an awesome pharmacist and runs really smoothly.

If you end up staying, ask about their text service. When your Rx is ready, you automatically get a text. I wait to pick things up until I get the text.

There aren't any local mom and pop places anywhere near me. We do, however, have every chain store in existence.

I get why you are angry and frustrated by the mix-up and delay for your prescriptions, but I don't think that it was right for you to refuse to pull up thus having the others waiting in line behind you to wait even longer when their prescriptions are ready and yours is not.

I would have said, I will pull up, but when the prescription is ready, you will need to bring it out to me, I'll park by the front door. I'm not going back in that line again, having already been through it twice.

I've never had any bad experiences at CVS or Walgreens in filling prescriptions. I now use a locally owned pharmacy because I like to suppport local businesses.

I pick up lots of prescriptions, andI had repeated problems with CVS. It finally got to the point that I ended up writing a strongly worded letter to corporate. Someone from corporate DID actually contact me and he spoke with the local store as well, so that might be the route for you to take. Especially since you don't have many options for pharmacies where you live.

ETA: If someone would have threatened to call the police on me like that girl did you, I'd be giving them a reason to call the cops!
Sorry you had to go thru that. Hope you feel better soon!

At the WM pharmacy my DH's xanax kept coming up short by 10 or 15 a month. They kept telling us that there was no way someone could steal them that it must be someone else!! The last time it happend we told them we wanted to watch their security camera with them and if they didn't let us we would have to bring in the police.

We watched as a younger lady 25? stole his meds. She was fired and we changed pharmacies. They tried to make it right but we were just so mad by then nothing helped.

Even with the snark, trolls and spelling police you are a great group of ladies!

I would write a letter about the entire incident with copies sent to the store manager, customer service, and the regional manager.
I'd expect her ass to be fired as soon as the person with authority to do so got wind of it.
