I have maybe 100 VHS tapes - Disney and others - that I would love to get rid of. Am doing a giant clean-out of my basement and am headed over to Goodwill today. Is it useful to bring them there? Are there still people who use these?

I got rid of a ton of my old Disney VHS tapes a few years ago by giving them to a Ronald McDonald House where my parents live. They still have the VHS/TV combos and were thrilled to get them. The ones local to me had upgraded to DVD/TV combos so I just called around.

My library also takes them for their twice yearly sales to raise money for the library.

I tossed them and never looked back. If you're feeling bad about trashing them, put them in a box and take them to the end of your driveway then put an ad on Craigslist saying FREE VHS tapes and list what kinds of VHS movies you've got.

If you can't find a place to take them look and see if there's a recycle place in your area that will.

We donated ours to our local elementary school when they had a yard sale fundraiser. Most of them sold and then the school donated everything that didn't sell to a local place (similar to Goodwill.)

Most of the charities around here have large signs saying they will not accept VHS tapes or players. But lots of people still use them.

Mercy, please just don't throw them and never look back.

Lots if charities will take them. Contact a few in your area!
