One of the girls mentioned him in class the other day and one girl said, "Oh, him? He's irrelevant." Not only was I shocked at her impeccable use of the word irrelevant, I was pleased to see all of the girls agreeing. The boys just think he's a, well, you can fill in the blank.

The slobby outfit is terrible, as is and the hat being left on. Whoever his wardrobe person is should be fired.

That young man has not heard the word "No" for a very long time, and its really too bad. He's going to make Lindsay Lohan look well-adjusted someday. What a punk.
But I love the tweet from PM Harper! Good for him for having a sense of humor!

Ya... I'm not a JB fan, but his behaviour lately has been more like a spoiled brat. Not a Harper fan either, but he is temperate and not disrespectful. He (for the most part) reins in his rights and lefts.
I'm so done with stars getting more than their share of fame and fortune. |

There seems to be a pattern with many young "stars" going off the deep end after a while.
Exhibit A - the previously mentioned Lindsey Lohan
Exhibit B - Britney Spears' shaved head, etc.
Exhibit C - Miley Cyrus' recent change in image
What is it about our society and the weird obsession with these young stars to make them act this way?

What is it about our society and the weird obsession with these young stars to make them act this way?
I think a lot of it comes down to "the only bad publicity is no publicity." I imagine it's very easy to become very used to feeling the top of the world, when everyone is talking about you. Unfortunately, for most of these stars, they are passing trends and I imagine the pressure to "reinvent yourself" to try and stay relevant is enormous. No one wants to stop the gravy train, their managers and employers/employees... not to mention their parents who I imagine get very used to the money as well.
The problem with it is, that like all passing trends, they really do have a short shelf life. Try as you might, trying to stay relevant usually just comes off as pathetic and absurd.
But apparently it works regardless since as a society we are all media hounds. Has Lindsay Lohan done anything noteworthy in years? And yet, we are still talking about her, even if it is just her ridiculousness.

Aside from the ridiculous outfits he has been wearing lately, is he ill? If pictures of a young female star were posted and she looked that thin, people would immediately be questioning her health and mentioning eating disorders. Lately, I have thought he was almost scary thin when I see pictures of him and this is no exception.
Gotta say that I was wondering about this myself.

Wow! Everyone's reaction on here is way over the top, IMO.. First totally agree that the way he is dressed in that photo is a disgrace. But to call him a punk and all the other completely negative things is also a bit over the top. He is not much different the numerous other young pop stars. He grew up with a single mom barely making ends meet not far from where I live. I took my daughters to see him last Xmas and it was a small concert so he spoke a lot to the crowd and he was very respectful. Seeing his grandpa standing at the side of the stage crying as Justin donated a big cheque to children's cancer charity and how kind he was to the small kids made me tear up. I think he does work very hard and does a lot of charity work which isn't always in the press (a girl I work with grew up with his best friend's mother). . Granted not too impressed with what he wears and sometimes how he talks but don't think he as done anything that terrible (yet) . I mean he was just a young child when he moved to states for his music. And the true punks are the ones booing him at the Grey Cup. They should be ashamed of themselves. And what he said about the "haters" isn't far wrong given the negative reaction he sometimes faces. If people don't like his music then don't listen but why the trash talk. Anyway he is still big in ontario (at least in my area). Girls around here would love to be at the concert this coming weekend.
Can't believe I am on here defending him but he is only an 18 year kid who is finding his way. If he was 25-26 maybe I would be harder on him but my daughter is only 4 years younger and hard to think off her being in position that he is in.

I am horrified that he was booed at the Grey Cup. These are the adults that are teaching their children that it is okay to mock and ridicule people. Way to be role models.

Has he always been that skinny?
No, he got a little buffer a year ago, because he was working out hard core with Dolvett. He was out on tour with him, training him and setting up his diet, and Justin filled out. But then Dolvett got hired for The Biggest Loser, and apparently Justin didn't bother hiring anybody else. Teenage metabolism + performing and dancing = no extra fat on him.
I'm not a Justin fan. Dolvett and Justin both live in ATL part time and are often on my local radio station. As a side note, the show hosts pick people for their 'celebrity incarceration draft' (whoever 'wins' when a celeb they have gets arrested gets the pot of $$) and one of them picked Justin recently. They are 'fans' of his (or have at least been working with him since he first started) but even they recognize his recent changes for the bad. |

Agreed, but honestly, can we really say that Marianus Trench, Carly Rae Jepsen and Justin Bieber are acts that the demographic watching the Grey Cup would even enjoy?
With that said, the well is sort of dry when it comes to reaching those pinnacles of Top 40 hits right now.
Well, we could have had Drake. He'll always be Jimmy from Degrassi to me. |

He is 18 years old, he shouldn't need his mother to dress him but apparently he does. I could see him dressed this way MAYBE, if he had just performed or something but he still should have had a change of clothes if he knew he was going to meet the Prime Minister

I saw that excuse but that's exactly what I think it is - an excuse. You can't tell me he couldn't have taken 5 minutes to change into a suit. Or planned ahead and worn something that would have been appropriate for both the meet & greet AND accepting an award from the Prime Minister. That sort of thing wouldn't fly with my kids and I think the only reason he gets away with it is because he hasn't heard the word "no" in a very long time. |

Well either he's a kid who you believe is still finding himself or he's an adult that should know how to dress himself - it doesn't work both ways. And my mother didn't have to dress me when I turned 18 because she'd done her job well enough while raising me that I was able to discern what was appropriate in any given situation. It's fine that you think the whole thing is overblown but obviously many people disagree. |
