I currently am paying for Netflix and barely use it. I am looking for something inexpensive to stream onto a tv.
We moved the wii to the basement and I would like another device in the family room for streaming. I don't know much about the Roku. I started to look at it last year. I do have a cable to stream from my ipad but I hate that there is no remote and you have to keep the ipad by the tv.
The Roku 2 XD is on sale at Amazon for $58 till tomorrow. It looks like the price is right and there is a remote. Any feedback or alternate ideas?

I bought the least expensive Roku for my brother last Christmas and he loves it. You can also compare the Roku with a streaming DVD player. We bought one for our daughter's room and it's wonderful. IIRC, we paid $70 for it at Walmart. If you go with the DVD player, make sure it can wirelessly connect to your internet unless you plan to park it next to your modem.

We have the older Roku. We bought it about a year ago and paid less than $50. I don't know exactly which model it is. It works great, we really like it.

My son just bought the Roku that costs about $79 and loves it. I'm thinking about getting rid of cable and buying one. Maria

We have had a Roku for about 2 years, and love it. I watch most of my TV shows thru huluplus (subscription based, about $7 a month). DH watched cable shows thru Net flex, of course he has to wait until a new season is released to catch up.We also love it to stream Pandora. The only thing I wish Roku had was YouTube, because I would love to watch glitter girl and the other classes on my TV! We are going to purchase another Roku for our upstairs TV. I don't know how they compare though to the WiFi DVD players, but Roku seems to be adding new channels and features frequently, so oi feel comfortable buying another one. They are having a sale on them with free shipping thru today at the roku website. HTH!

Is there one that does stream youtube? And regular hulu? Our dvd player streams netflix but that's all. I'm a prime member so I'd love one that streams amazon video too. |

Roku streams Amazon also, as well as Crackle,
If you add Playon, you can stream hulu and you tube from your pc to the roku.
Playon costs about $20 a year, or the deal that I just found on Playon's site is a roku player plus lifetime Playon subscription for $59.99

I have a Net Gear streamer. It does You Tube. I used fling to fling it to my streamer and watch my videos on my TV. You can also stream Netflix and Hulu Plus . I got it on Amazon. It together with a 6 ft. hdmi cord came out to $54.00 and some change. |
