I'm new to the scrapbooking world & it drives me NUTS when I'm reading posts and other things across the Internet and almost every word is cut short or aberavated! I know it's easier to type like that but it's really confusing for someone to read when they don't know what your trying to say and I'm not talking about the normal ones like lol, nvm, ttyl no people will just make there own short cuts up! So frustrating I'm constinaly googling whats DH or LSS or PP or OA and so on! Does anyone out there feel the same way as I do? Or am I just behind?

What is a normal short cut or not depends on the board. Dh, lss, pp and OA are normal around here.
Dh = dear husband, LSS- local scrapbook store, pp can be patterned paper or page protector or post processing on the photography board. OA is October Afternoon.
I have no idea what nvm is. |

Omg! Thanks so much for the pea dictionary! Well I now know DH & LSS & OA (after googling them at first lol) I guess that wasn't a great example on my end because I do see those posted a lot on the forms I just couldn't think of any when I was typing before but I have seen people use PP for pink paislee and I only figured that one out because they were talking about other brands and there's a few more I knew I saw that someone made up on a whim! Trust me I'm all for short cuts.. I'll just have to keep the pea dictionary handy! Btw I was wondering how long does it generally take you guys to finish a mini album not just one with envelopes and tags one that's like a mini scrap album with loads of embellishments and other stuff it feels like it takes me at least a few weeks and that's me working on it a few hrs daily I feel like I'm so slow or is that normal? Just curious..

Meh. I'd rather have people constantly abbreviate than try to figure out fully typed out but utterly misspelled words. And with people posting from phones and Ipads there is no way anyone will be typing out "Local Scrapbook Store" every single time.

What is really annoying is when people stop spelling correctly. Honestly, it makes them look/sound like idiots. It's 'enough' not 'enuf', 'though' not 'tho', and it's 'through' not 'thru'. And for the love of God and all that's Holy, it's SELL not SALE! You are not 'saling' anything! Not even a boat!! |

OP, mIni albums, I think it depends on the size of it.. you know, 6x6 or smaller, I have done one or two in a few days to a week I think (but its been a really long time, so can't remember exactly). Not done one larger than 6x6, so maybe someone else could answer that for you.
Abbreviations, you'll get the hang of peaspeak before you know it.
The abbreviations that kill me are things like NE1 which I think is horrible, I get what it means (pretty obvious) but I hate it and RU...those are really easy words to type, so it annoys me when they are abbreviated, it looks stupid. |

You'll want to start a new thread for this question. But I'll answer. I'm really slow. I've finished a simple mini album in a day and a half. I have several that I started a couple years ago. They aren't high priority.

Where did you find the Pea Dictionary and Pea Titles? I have been on this site for years and didn't know they existed.
When I first came to the site, there was a link to each on the forum pages.
ETA: and something happened with the site shortly after that, and those links dosappeared, and the search didn't work correctly for a LONG time.
Until this last redesign, I've had to use google to find both the pea dictionary and the list of pea titles.

I just think it's funny how always the spelling issue has to reemerge...really? Like you never made a mistake? Have you tried to write a message with your phone? I'm always correcting my stuff after I post because GOD forbids I spell anything wrong here
Have any of you English language Inquisition have thought about people from other parts of the world and how hard it is to be bilingual? No because average american is too self centered to know two languages.
And go ahead get offended because every time I hear someone criticizing the spelling like we are complete idiots that is how offended I feel.

Very well said! I couldn't agree with you more! I'm such a horrible speller I thank god for my spell check on my iPad but not for nothing I could careless if my words are misspelled if you can still read it at the same speed as a correctly spelled word then why complain about it. There was a study done once where they gave everyone to read a paragraph that was horribly misspelled and the human brain automaticly still reads it the same as if it was spelled correctly.. I can see how some things annoy people that others don't but honestly people often make mistakes while typing or like you said your from a different country or maybe they just can't spell so think about that the next time you feel the need to play English teacher! I hardly ever check my spelling before hitting the submit because I honestly don't care and don't have the time ... Just like I'm sure ths post is misspelled a few times over lol

Lol! Well I think not being able to understand a convo that's going on when your trying to really learn something because every other word is abbreviated is a little bit different then common spelling errors or mistakes! If I could spell the word correctly when it isn't a mistake then trust me I would people choose to abbreviate there words which btw let me clear this up is not at all annoying or bothersome because I do it all the time it's when I see a post that I really want the info about like example the "OA Santa sacks" and I have no idea what OA stands for but I need to know then I have to try and google it and hope to god there is some kind of definition or blog post explaining what OA stands for but now thanks to the lovely peas that posted the pea dictionary i will no longer be out of the loop like I mentioned before Im new to scrapbooking & wanna learn as much as I can! But this post is getting funny oh & btw to the pea that just had to correct my original post did you notice in this one that I spelled ABBREVIATE correctly! I think I should get a cookie lol
