I know, it's still November...but I am thinking I want to get our cards sent out the first week of December - I'm usually hitting the post office the week before Christmas (or, gasp, the week OF Christmas), but I'm really wanting to get them done and sent off early this year (well, early for me). Just wondering if I'm alone...

I like to get mine ready to mail shortly after Thanksgiving and at the very least by the first week of December. Not sure I will get done that soon this year.

I don't send mine until sometime in November. I always wait until I receive my first card before sending them out. I don't know why. I guess because for some silly reason I don't want mine to be the first one to arrive.
|Posted: 11/27/2012 8:33:32 AM|
This year would be December 17th. If they are ready sooner, I won't wait until then but I'd like to have them in the mail by the 17th.

I was thinking December 1st also. Though I have to admit, I've not even started cards yet! Never made any to send out before, so may be interesting!

I like to send them out Dec 1, but that is so not happening this year.
|Posted: 11/27/2012 10:08:03 AM|I got a little over excited because I actually made some of mine!! LOL The hand made ones have already been sent. (and some received... I sent them Wed. before Thanksgiving). The others were ready to go and I just handed them to my mail man yesterday, when he brought my kits to the door. Usually, I am so not on the ball with it. I don't ever make cards.

I was totally stressed about this this year as we have always sent a photo card of the two DS's. DS1 is away at school and did not come home for thanksgiving - I was trying to figure it out and really wanted to continue to send the photo.
Solution - Happy New Year's cards - it will have to do and has relieved the stress -

I always send New Year's cards as well. That way I can make them over Xmas break. I don't like to stress myself out needlessly.

I'm usually late with them and get them out the week of Christmas...but I planned early this year and got the kids picture at a local nature park. The beautiful fall colors really came through and the kids looked great. I usually take their picture in front of the Christmas tree but decided to try and get everything done a bit early this year.
The longest and hardest part for me was deciding on which picture to use. I really liked 4 or 5 of them. I am addressing them now and will mail them out at the end of November. Wow! Yea for me!!

Mine is Friday for everyone I have a current address for.
It's for selfish reasons. I moved this summer and I want to make sure people on my list have my current address so I get a few cards in return. Not really consistent with Christmas spirit and the whole "better to give than receive thing," but hey, I love Christmas cards, including store bought ones.
|Posted: 11/27/2012 6:59:47 PM|
For about the past 6 years I've been sending out winter cards. It was too much for me to try to get them out before Christmas, so I made an "executive" decision to send winter cards instead. The weight lifted from my shoulders and I haven't regretted my decision once.
The benefit of that is that I can include a photo of the kids in the snow with the cards. My cards usually have snowflakes of some sort...punches, dies, or stamping, but this year I am going to do penguins. As long as the penguins aren't wearing Santa hats, I don't see why they can't be winter instead of Christmas themed.

I try for the first week in December, but I only send handmade ones to family. I usually make a paper ornament or banner with a photo to include but with a newborn this year it's not happening. I did get little cards printed with her birth announcement to put inside the cards.

I will have mine ready to go, but I will send them out when I get back from a trip to Europe, around the 15th. I have never had them out later than that, but I think the week before Christmas is fine.

I'm already thinking about making Valentine's cards.

I try to have mine with a 31 Dec postmark because I want them to arrive close to Epiphany, which is absolutely a big part of our Christmas celebrations! I have had years when I have sent them earlier for various reasons, but that is the norm.

|Posted: 11/28/2012 4:35:55 PM|I hand delivered quite a few at church this past Sunday and loved it.
I get a sick feeling of pride when people tell me "Yours is always the first each year and I look forward to it."
I went to the post office this afternoon, too, and mailed a bunch of them.
I love it when I have them all done so we can all sign them during the Thanksgiving Day parade.
