Are you the Martha Stewart of the holidays making your own cards, wrapping, home decor, December daily, and a few layouts too? Or are you scraping by, trying to get one of those things accomplished during this hectic season?

I have to say before I had kids, I was super ambitious-- i used to stamp my own kraft wrapping paper and create custom embellishing, make my own decorated fresh wreaths for gifts, the whole nine yards--I really did want to be MS!!

Today after two kids, honestly, I'm just scraping by. I'm hoping to create one crafty item this year and I'll be good with that. How about you? Are you super ambitious this time of the year-if so what's the most you created during this time of the year? Would love to hear!!

Normally I try to be crafty but this year being pregnant and exhausted is killing my crafty mojo. I'll be lucky to get the minis done for the grandparents

This year I have quite a few projects that I want to finish. I will not be doing a December Daily (I work most of the month and only have weekends for the "fun" stuff.) My kids are grown and gone but I will be making some homemade gifts for my grandkids. I also made myself a wreath out of vintage ornaments. I decided to make a few extra's to sell to recoup some of the cost of the ornaments. They all sold the first day, and now I have requests for a few more. Christmas cards may or may not get sent this year. I don't feel too guilty about that. Any free time I have will be spent with family and friends.

Not much at all. Anything after Thanksgiving and I'm too tired.

I have a five year old and a two and a half month old. I am making an advent calendar very simply and I am going to try DD for the first time. I already have our photo calendars done - not sure if that counts I am also planning tile coasters for thee different people but that is really a quick project.

I do wrap presents of course and I plan to do butcher paper/washi/bakers twine but that doesn't take any more time than regular paper, scotch tape and ribbon.

Tiffanyo, I'd say that's ambitious! Especially with 2 little ones!!

One year I made photo books thinking it would be easy - you know the ones you can get at shutter fly, etc, and that took SO much time, I thought it would be easy and it was treacherous! LOL

I do calendars on Snapfish and it usually takes me DAYS. They changed the format and I like it less, but I got a coupon for buy one get two free and opened it on the last day. So I just had to get it done. It is awesome that they are on the way now instead of right before Christmas . But I think trying to do a whole photo book as a gift would have to be started in September or I would never finish on time!

I cut down my Christmas cards list from more than 20 last year to 5 this year so I was able to make them in 1 day. If anybody complains that they didn't get one I'll add them again next year. I do wrap presents but I dont make my own wrapping paper. I use store bought paper and decorate them with simple, handmade name tags. I quilled three 3D nativities, each one took just one day to make. 2 were for gifts and one is for me. The only other projects that I plan to do are to paint a ceramic frog and decorate some wood Christmas ornaments and a small birdhouse. I have weeks to do those. No pressure.

I used to make the Shutterfly photo books each year for my FIL. He passed away 15 mo. ago. I now have them back. I get my assignments done for the kit club I am on and that is about it in the crafting dept. I have all the holiday shopping, decorating, present wrapping, baking and I am on my own. Not much help. Part of the reason why I grab things as I see them throughout the year. 90% of my shopping is done. I like not fighting crowds.

I make altered art canvases for Christmas gifts. This year, I have plans to make only five so I'm in good shape - it's really assembly line with it all lined up on the dining room table. Kinda fun in the evenings to sit and work while dh watches TV. We reminisce about the various photos I had printed out and how people in them have changed.

I drool over the crafts on Pinterest and would love to have more time for some of those. But December Daily is a nightly activity for me to journal, print out photos, add the ephemera of the day, and organize the page protectors. So I give up the crafty stuff.

Well, considering my only craft ambition has been limited to scrapbooking, I guess I can say that I'm not craft ambitious at all during the holidays. I was raised believing that Christmas was one big glorious day full of gifts and celebrating with family and freinds. But still, it was just one day.

Considering my perception and the way I celebrate holidays altogether has changed over time, my crafting ambition has changed as well. 2012 marks my second year doing a DD and the more I get ready for christmas, the more I want to do and create on my own.

I don't think I'll ever get to the stage of stamping my own wrapping paper, but I can definitely see myself doing more crafty things as the years go by.

I don't do too much for the holidays generally because I don't have kids. Here's what I am doing:

Christmas cards - made a little over half of them before Thanksgiving, the rest will get store-bought cards.

Wrapping paper - I plan to use craft paper/grocery bags and stamp it, but it's really because then I only need to buy and store one roll of paper and I'm covered for every gift-giving occasion. I will only end up giving about five Christmas gifts anyways.

Tree - my tree is actually a rosemary plat. I'll be using baker's twine as garland because I have a ton of it and attaching punched paper circles and snowflakes as ornaments. I didn't want to bother buying and storing a tree and real ornaments.

In past years, I've been just scraping by. This year, I'm hoping to fall somewhere in the middle. We're staying home for Christmas (just got back last night from an extended Thanksgiving trip), so I have high hopes that I'll have more time! We'll see.

I'm trying DD for the first time, plus I'm hoping to get some LO's done and catch up on PL. I also make picture calendars for the fam through Shutterfly, and I might do some small brag books for the grandparents.

No homemade cards or wrapping paper here though!

I'm a complete Martha about it all--in my head. I look at the gorgeous pin boards, ideas here, etc., then come to my senses & just get back to pea-ing.

I would probably be considered in between, because I am making/made:

1. December Daily (only my second year, but will put much more time into this album than I did last year)
2. Made a paper wreath from an awesome idea I saw in the Two peas gallery - so that was not on my to-do list until I saw it here
3. Made an simple Advent calendar - typed tags slipped in kraft bags and hung from twine along a wall
4. Made cork trees after finding pics online somewhere - this is the only item I made for myself and for others, because I gave them to my mom and sister
5. I made some mini shadow box decor from an idea I saw at Archivers

However, I do not:
1. Make my own holiday cards. I do photo cards from Snapfish and order them early. I am not a card maker and I don't think they would be appreciated
2. Handmade gifts - generally don't make crafty gifts for others
3. Giftwrap or tags - nope the store bought stuff is just fine for me

It's the "for others' piece where I save my time and $$, because the time it would take (and the stress of finishing) I don't believe would be appreciated. I gave a mini album to my SIL for Christmas for her daughter's first Christmas and she left it out for my sweet little niece to rip apart, so the beautiful handmade embellishments on the cover are now gone.

And any extra home decor I make each year is just based on if I see an idea I like. I don't go into the holiday season knowing I will or will not make anything new.

I will say Amy - I sat down with my 3 year old last night to do the "holiday interview" for my DD (borrowed from your DD last year) and when I asked him to choose one word to describe Christmas, he said "scrapbooking", so I guess I have been working on a lot of projects eh? But now that December is upon us, all I have left to work on is my DD.

i still make my own tags. this year i'm a little stumped but i'll figure something out.

my sister and i also do baking so we try to come up with cute packaging and labeling ideas.

i'm giving out mostly gift cards this year so i'm trying to think of some cute gift card holders to make.

I'm more realistic than ambitious. I'm lucky if cards get sent out at ALL, let alone trying to make them.

Just about the only crafty thing I plan to do is working on my December album.

Did you see this cute wallet that somebody posted a while back? They're just the right size, & you could have fun making them different styles for ladies, gents, little tykes, etc. I made a few, & they're pretty easy.

I am extremely ambitious. I have a pin board dedicated to all the things I plan to do.

How much of that will actually happen? Not much. But my intentions are grand!

Not very, I'm afraid. I always have the best intentions, but, ......
I do enjoy gift wrapping very much, though. Not home decorating since my children are too far away and to busy to be here for Christmas.
