Ok, who's making an advent calendar?

Every year I intend to make one for each of the kids and then get too busy to do so. This year we were out of the country for a month and then on the road for Thanksgiving and it's looking like I'll again miss out on making them. That is, unless I make them on Friday and get them sent out that evening.

Tell me there's hope!

If you have made one, please share photos, tips, etc. TIA

This is our first year even doing one. I decided I wanted to make one... This week. I went to Dollar Tree and bought little wedding favor boxes. These actually are more like bags, open on top with handles. I did patterned paper around the square part and left the handles white, added some simple embellishments and numbered flair I ordered Monday. I am going to put white tissue paper in them, planning to replace it with red each day when the bag is opened (so the display stays pretty through the month). I am going to hang them from decorative braided rope with ornament hooks.
I have a two month old and still did the whole project, including writing activities for each day, this afternoon. You can do it!

tiffanyo,

OK girl, you have a 2-month old and yet you managed to make one (and I very cute sounding one at that!)?!

What is WRONG with me?!!!

I am thinking I need to just go ahead and make them this year and then at least I would have them ready for next year.

I would love to see a photo of yours (and anyone else's!) if you have a chance to post one. Yours sounds adorable!

Last year I took a class at my LSS and used the Kaiser Craft advent calendar kit. It went pretty quickly and it's heavy duty.

The Kaiser Craft Advent Calendar Kit I ordered early in November arrived yesterday...kinda late to assemble and decorate for my 3 year old DGD.

But this turned out to be a blessing because I found a lovely wooden one at Joann's two weeks ago. It is heavy, well constructed and will will look great for years. Don't know how to include a pic but it is on J's website opening page for 60% off.

We are having so much fun with this and her mischevious elf!

That naked box mocked me for a year because i never would tackle it. l tackled it and it was fast going! I used my stash and lots of little bobbles and 3-d stickers i had around. Finally used a bunch of number stickers from my stash too! I love it so much! Close-ups on my blog and tells how it's going with the family

I've shown it before (quite awhile ago), but this one was based on a Paper Crafts project from years ago, that was taught in a class at the LSS. I can't remember if this is the one I did in the class or my own version later (since I wanted a second one to give to my grandkids), but it was an activity advent:

And in a separate post, I listed the activities that were in each of the pockets:

ETA: after looking at it closely, this was my own adaptation, not the one we made in class.
