I've been misting EVERYTHING with gold lame, and I knew my bottle was getting low, but I didn't know it was THAT low. It's so close to Christmas and I haven't even started my DD/Christmas crafting yet, and I am out of gold! *sob*

Have you ever used an entire bottle of misting ink?

Marshmallow. I made more with perfect pearls

What color is gold lame (besides the gold shimmer)?

It is just a perfectly lovely shade of gold that looks metallic and shiny once dry. I (obviously!) really love it!

So now you have an excuse to buy more, right? Lol. I've used up my marshmallow, as well as most of my Mel's Diner and Trunk Bay.

True, cdpeck! But unfortunately I've done a TON of scrapbook shopping over the past couple of weeks, and promised myself I wouldn't do any more buying until after Christmas!

I just bought a backup bottle because I have been using it like crazy and it is getting hard to find, lots of places (including here) sold out. Love that stuff.

Biochemipea, I bought a back up bottle and unlike you, Ms. Overachiever, I've barely even put a dent in my original bottle.

Frazzled Mom, how completely and totally sweet of you! This was the absolute last thing I ever expected! I am sometimes amazed at how thoughtful and generous people are. Thank you.

Awww, Peas are the best! Now I feel like I must check out this mist...

Before I saw the frowny face I thought this was going to be a happy, boasting post. I have been scrapbooking for around five years. I don't think I've ever used up all of anything except adhesive and single sheets of patterned paper or cardstock. That includes sticker sheets, rub-on sheets, inkpads, embossing powders, packs of brads, etc. etc. I mostly just use things until I am tired of them and then I give them away.

KBPea, I totally never thought I'd use up an entire bottle of any mist. Never mind one I've only had for two weeks! That was actually one of my main hesitations for not purchasing mists, I figured it would be one of those supplies (like so many others) I just use a tiny bit of and then grow tired of and give away or throw away if all dried up/ruined.

That is very sweet of Gail.

Ashley, are you misting with masks or just directly to your layout? I have several mists I've used with cutout titles, using my Cameo but I haven't yet used them on a layout.

So what kinds of things did you use it on? I have three HS mist bottles and I don't know what to use them on except her magic paper and seam binding. I'd love to hear about your projects!

Go for it!

Gail is a VERY sweet pea. She sent me some gingham paper that I was searching for high and low YEARS ago.

And darn you biochemipea!!! I haven't even been interested in misting ink and now you've got me to thinking. I do know that I have stockpiled on gold embossing powder and STILL get more if I see a clearance sale or something, so you know I like gold! That and white and clear embossing.

Gail! Thank you so much! Your kind gift of a new bottle of Heidi Swapp Gold Lame arrived today, and I am so happy to be reunited with my favourite mist. And you packaged it so beautifully! It was wrapped very nicely in paper and tied with a pretty bow. So incredibly thoughtful of you.

Ashley.

I have been meaning to come back and answer the questions about how I have been using the gold lame color shine spray. My laptop died a bit ago and I lost most of my photos/programmes, and I've been slow at getting my new laptop up and running.

So, basically -- I mist everything!

I've cut my own masks and misted the background. Especially hearts (used both the positive and negative, to create plain hearts on a gold background or gold hearts on plain background)

I've misted directly onto the background. This mist comes out a bit "splatty", not as finely as the other mists I've used (OA Sprinklers and SC Mr. Hueys) and this splatty effect is quite lovely, I think.

I used a paintbrush and painted directly onto mistable fabric feathers.

I misted onto plain/unfinished chipboard, and the effect of gold on kraft created a very rich gold effect. I have left the mist to dry as-is, and also went in and buffed it when mostly dry, and buffing created a nice burnished gold look.

I absolutely love misting on old book pages and then using them to make embellishments for my pages or just using as paper for my layouts.

I also just leave drips or a few drops of gold for a simple accent.

And, one of my favourites, is to make a gold "coffee ring" on the page.

Here are some examples where I have used these techniques:

Love this best: The tails of the fair ribbons are gold mist on chipboard. I misted heavily and left to dry.

Our daily soundtrack: Here I misted Pebbles chipboard speech bubbles, let sit until almost completely dry, and then buffed in with a piece of paper towel. The splats, coffee ring, and misted book pages (stamped in pink for the title ya ya) were also all done with HS gold mist. Oh, I also misted/painted the CP wood veneer dress, the SC kraft heart sticker, and the SC fabric mistable feather.

this is our kind of Friday night: On this page I just pooled a tiny bit of gold at the top and bottom of the page. I love the texture and look this mist has when applied heavily and dried!

She was a young bun: I used a heart mask for the background to mist the entire page gold but leaving the hearts un-misted. Then I misted a chipboard heart in gold and left it to dry. Then added more mist so there was splattery texture to it. This was the page I used the painted fabric feather on. I left all but one plain. I just painted on a few layers of gold mist until it was saturated enough.

I misted the background of this page lightly. I used gold misted book pages to create clouds and the bow under the title.

& everyone was there (JBS Dec kit): I misted the bottom portion of the corrugated cardboard like crazy with gold. Once it was dry I added a gold coffee ring.

book & lap (JBS Dec kit): Another gold misted book page bow.

They've got front yard skill (JBS Dec kit): More gold splotchy background misting.

HTH!

Lovely layouts. Thanks for sharing!

I like the Heidi mists quite a bit as well. They dry faster than all the other brands I have tried. That comes in handy if you don't want paper warp.

Thank you, slyn11! I have never had a problem with other mists warping my paper, but the HS Color Shine does seem to be a different formula than opaque mists, and different than the one iridescent mist I have. The gold Color Shine has an almost "oily" appearance when wet, and it does dry quickly.

Thank you, again, Gail.

I make handmade flowers and I use mists to moisten my paper. I end up always needing to help drying along with my heat gun. The Color Shine mists dry so fast that I didn't need a heat gun, and in fact I had to spritz the paper with water to re-moisten to get the effect I wanted. Same thing when I colored ribbon...it was dry before I could reach for my heat gun.

So yeah something in the formula is making it quick dry.

Sounds lovely!

I bought a bottle of Mr. Huey's opaque white mist a couple of months ago (like September, I think) and I've nearly used up the bottle already. I was really surprised when I realised it. Although they are smaller than the Glimmer Mist bottles...
