This is my very 1st year doing a "DD" I'm excited! I also signed up for JYC. Anyways I was wondering what kind of prep work do you do before december 1st to get ready? Or do you just start in december right now I'm trimming all my pages to fit into my page protectors but I wanna do more I'm just not sure what else to do since december hasn't started yet & I don't know what photos will go where.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.... Thx

My turn to hit the PEAnata!!!

not knowing what to do since the day ins't here is what a lot of us struggle with, so you're not alone

some just play it by ear and go with the flow as the month goes on...others try to get their base pages done so that (at least) it doesn't seem like so much work to do during the holiday

I say do what you think will work for you best It's a no pressure album, but for many (because it's so busy) it can feel like a 'fly by the seat of your pants' album

good luck and fun doing your album this year. Shimelle's class is going to be awesome I'm sure, so you'll have plenty of motivation to keep you going. I can't do that class because it's not in my budget

have fun!!

My biggest and best advice is to journal every single day. Doing this makes it easier to go back and finish. I was going to do one last year, took all the pictures and journaled, but didn't put it together. I have a really hard time designing, so just put it in my project life and called it good. I had all my journaling and ephemera, so I just stuck in there and called it good. The year before that, I added the journaling pages to the binder between each layout in my 8x8 and called it good. I usally don't like to box myself in with a 4x6 horizontal or a 4x6 vertical because I always take the opposite or I want to add more pictures, so I did the design as I went.

I can't "pre-make" my pages since I like my photos to match with my pattern paper. I take my photos and journal about the day in a daily planner notebook, then make the pages as I have time. Since you've cut your paper to size, just slip it in the page protectors without adhering it, then you can move them around to match your photos. You could also slip the embellishments that match your papers in the page protectors too.

Thank you for the advice! I already put all the papers in the protectors I didn't glue them so that I can switch if need be. I was also thinking about creating some cute number embellishments since my days will all be numbered I was just gonna take a number from my collection I got and use it as is until I saw on shimelles blog that she creates these really cute number embellishments for each day and I really liked that so I guess since I'm so slow ill work on that until 12/1 lol I was gonna collect everything pics, journaling, memorabilia etc. & put the dd together after Christmas since that would be the easiest for me to do because I will have everything I need but I know myself and I know I'm not gonna wanna do a dd after Christmas is already over! So I just figured I could do a page a day which works great too because I just got a new photo printer! Ahh, the holidays! So much to do so little time!
