I was thinking the same thing... I grew up there and all of my family and many friends live in Northern CA. Calling my grandparents when they wake up later to check on them.
Hope there are no major issues!!

I remember when the HORRIBLE Love Creek mudslides happened (lived in SLV at the time) and I don't think we'd had that much rain in the prior 24 hours. That was truly one of the most amazing acts of nature I have ever seen! Loma Prieta was the next 'big thing' but those mudslides were horrid!
I hope everyone is safe and well...just wet! |

Thanks Scoobers! We were supposed to travel to the Bay Area this weekend but cancelled our trip because of the expected storms.
We're in Central Cal and supposed to get nothing but rain here as well through Sunday. It's been raining off and on since Wednesday. I stopped at the beach that morning to drink my coffee and got a great shot of the clouds moving in.
I saw 2 deer on the beach that morning! I've never seen that before.
We're buckled down for the weekend. We may go out to see Lincoln but that's it. I think Northern California is getting the brunt of it Stay safe, NorCal Peas!!! |

I'm in the Sacramento area--rainy, windy, cold today. I heard we'll be getting around 8"--that's a whole lot of water in a short amount of time! |

13 inches are usually in hilly areas...not the central urban areas (exception...marin county--kentfield and ross. the hills of the penisula.
though we are getting 3-8 inches...but all our rain comes nov-march. right off the ocean..here we go.

I thought sure our power was going to go out last night, but it only flickered. A lot of people nearby lost power, though.
My main worry is a tree falling on our house, but it hasn't. Lots of flooding nearby that won't reach us.
I'm in Chico.
Thanks! | |

Wednesday's storm was supposed to be the worst of the string, but it turned out to be not so bad. It started raining lightly here yesterday afternoon, but really hit hard around 10:00. Woke me up at 3:00 lashing at the windows. I think it has been raining consistently ever since.
Thankfully, we have nothing planned this weekend so we can hunker down, light the fire, and stay dry.

It hasn't lived up to the hype so far. South SJ got .3 in on Wed and none yesterday and it is raining nicely now since last night. We need it!
But the Santa Cruz mountains will be the 13 in area if anywhere and there are always chances of mudslides up there. It amazes me - those that live up there because there always seems to be slides or fires or something. |

We probably won't get much rain in San Diego, if at all. We do have a high surf advisory & strong rip currents as a result of the storm. |

Yep, Morro Bay I love this beach. It's so peaceful and everyone is friendly. Surfers, walkers, dog people.

I live up North... Way North and we have had pretty much non stop rain and strong winds the last 4 days or so. There were predictions that we would get 5-10 inches of rain with this 4 day storm. There may be a break in the storm Monday and Tuesday, but another storm is right around the corner.
We're averaging. 1-3 inches a day. Thankfully our rivers are under flood stage, for the time being. |

It was pretty intense here in SJ today---and I love it!!! I like right up against the Santa Cruz mountains, so we tend to get a lot more rain at my house than in some parts of the valley. We did have two leaks though, which I did not love. |

We live in the southern end of SC Mountains. Just checked the rain gauge, 3.75 inches since Wednesday. On Tuesday DH cleaned all the drains, battened the hatches and went into town for groceries in anticipation of these storms. Luckily we live high enough that I don't expect flooding at our house, but our road may flood near a small lake at the bottom of our hill. I'm more worried about trees down and mud slides.
ETA: After posting I thought my post sounded weird after many of you had to deal with hurricane Sandy. I know these storms will be nothing compared to that.

This storm is hectic but nothing compared to what others are still dealing with. All I've had to deal with is trying to fish my neighbor's BBQ out of her pool and a few fallen trees.
