UPDATE: I started a January thread but it appears everyone is coming to this thread. So, I changed it to FLORIDA PEAS: OUR THREAD.
Good Morning Florida Peas!
How are you today?
Has the weather cooled where you live? The weatherman spoke of temps in the 30's and 40's! Brrr!
How are you coming along with your holiday preparations?

Hi Cindy, yes it is cooler and windier up here today - lows in the 30s for the next couple of days. Might make me feel like it is actually Christmas with a wee bit of chill
We are all set for Christmas, the kids are now finished school and DH has finished work until the New Year |

Good morning everyone! I just registered a few minutes ago. I live in Naples and would love to know about the stores in our area. Is the store in Bonita still in business at a different location? I went to the one near the corner of Bonita Beach Road and 41, but it was closed. No signs on the door.
Hmmmm. I was/am REALLY into digiscrapping, but since my dog died I lost my scrapping mojo. My sister is a fantastic paper artist, and she has slowly convinced me to try paper. I am interested in cardmaking.

So, Tuesday will be a new year. Do you stay in/go out on the big night?
We will be staying in on NYE and probably fall asleep, LOL, although I like to see the ball drop. New Years day I will make prime rib (yummy) for company.
***Port Charlotte and surrounding area peas***
Who would be interested in a get together, get to meet each other event. My thought are lunch at a restaurant. We can put names to faces and share infor about the stamp stores, classes, etc. in our area.
I would do this after New Years, maybe the third week in January.
If you are interested, Peamail me or answer right on the thread.
Happy New Year | |

Well, I finally arrived in Port Charlotte on the 23rd. We were supposed to be here on the 14th but I was sick for 2 weeks before we left so it got pushed back.....darn head and chest cold.
We have been frantically going around Port Charlotte and Fort Myers buying furniture and appliances for the condo and got 95% of it done.
I set up a folding table and a lawn chair in our Den for scrapping till the furniture gets here. We have a trip up to Tampa planned to get some Ikea shelves and desks.
Would love a get together to meet people.....I would love new scrappy friends. I love crops.
I went to M's a few days ago and the super Joann's in fort Myers yesterday and did not buy much. I might have actually bought it all already....lol
I have also come to the conclusion that I am addicted to border punches......sad but I don't even want a 12 step program. I am happy with my addiction. LoL
|
I love the smell of card stock in the morning.....
The Movie poster that is my avatar is very special cause my husband is in it and it won best film at the Canadian Film Festival in 2012. See it......It's super funny.

We are going out to welcome in the new year, at the house of another family of Brits that came across with us in June. Should be fun, especially as they have just got an 11 week old puppy...
One of my goals for 2013 is to attend a crop. Orlando is a bit far but my LSS has them every week and its only 5 mins in the car. I just haven't managed to organize myself/get the courage/find the time to do it. But in 2013 I will |

Sarah, you're the one I touched base with once before right? Now that the holidays are over, we should totally meet up at the store. Kids are back in school Wednesday
Bonnie, so happy you're finally near the beach and away from the cold. How are your girls doing?
Btw, everyone . . . I'm April, 30-something married mom to three kids and a dog. I'm a native Floridian and born and raised in a suburb of Jacksonville. I stayed home ill for New Year's Eve while hubby and one son went to a neighbor's party. My oldest (and only daughter) is a senior in high school this year. My two boys are still in elementary school. Besides popping in and out at two peas, I can also be found around The BPC site.

Okay Peas, what's up with our weather? Cloudy for a while, a little bit of sun, rain and more cloudy weather.
Can anyone tell me if Scrapbook Boutique in Orlando closed? My Mom had kidney stones, so I had to drive up to Leesburg. My Sister suggested I stop at SB on the way back because they are closing. I remember the day it opened. It was the day of the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster. 2/1/2003. I was at the store at 9am when they opened.
Tell us how you are doing? Have you been scrapbooking? Have you made cards? Is anyone doing PL/365 this year?

FlCindy,
My dad is starting to decline a bit more. He has cancer of the esophagus that had prevented him from swallowing anything(tmi....even his own saliva) but the amount of treatment he was able to receive reducded the size of the tumor. He got too weak for treatment so on Jan 31st last year he went on hospice.
He has survived this long eating so foods and protein drinks. The cancer has metastized into his stomach, but very little. He is getting weaker and sicker. It is tough, he lives alone and I work 12 hours a day to help pay for 4 hours of private duty nursing for him during the day.
It is impossible to watch him almost starve to death, but as an only child, this is my duty and I will do it with love.
Thank you for asking.
By the way, my name is Cindy too

I'll say a prayer for you both for strength and comfort. I can't imagine the place you're in, and while my dad is remarried, my mom passed away in 97 and I am also an only child.

April, yes it is me you spoke you a while back I haven't been back to the LSS since they changed all their opening hours. Are you planning on attending a crop again soon? I am pretty much free during the week, so we could meet up for a coffee maybe?
Mari, if you are reading (as it was on the other thread) we had a great time swimming with the manatees. We saw 5 or 6, and it was amazing
So, what is with all the humidity this week? Yes, I don't mind that it is warmer - although aircon in January is a completely alien concept - but the humidity is killing me!!! I have had awful headaches all week (I don't handle big changes in pressure etc very well) and today I said "enough is enough" and didn't leave the house apart from taking out the recycling boxes... I have even managed to get through the day without taking Motrin every 4 hours |

THANK YOU Cindy!
Thanks to you we have a bunch of SS newbies coming to our monthly crop Saturday!
I love it when the crop room is full of scrappers who have never met but the common thread of scrapbooking brings them together. Then there is the talking (they are getting to know the girls at their table), a few hours later they are laughing together. Then dinner rolls around and the conversation is "what is that recipe".
Next is " You mean its time to pack up"? I didn't realize it was that late. "I will be here next month".
That is my favorite and ^^^^ (that) is what it's all about-Making FRIENDS, while making MEMORIES.
Thanks again Cindy-I love the sounds in that crop room.
