Christmas is coming way too fast. I have so many scrappy and sewing projects to do.
Chatting should probably drop lower on my list, but oh well! Right place, right time!

excited for December any scrapy decor making?
Yep, definitely! Last year we could barely make room for anything while we were in such a teeny tiny space, so it's nice to have a little more room for the tree and pretty things on the walls! I'll be sharing throughout December as I put different things up. |

I was wondering if you've ever changed your mind about a layout that you've made? Like a layout you made when your style was different than it is now...do you ever feel the need to redo them? Or do you just accept it, like that was your style at the time?

I've got a random question: do you have a favorite holiday movie? I'm working on a page about our family traditions, including the movies that we *must* watch every year, or it just doesn't feel like Christmas to us! |

have you ever had a challenge that was also challenging for YOU?
oh, plenty!!!
until i had the nerve to turn down certain kinds of assignments, i was forever thinking creatively to complete baby and child assignments since i don't have children. i borrowed a lot of pictures back in the day but now I tend to use photos I have actually taken of nephews/nieces or friends' babies/children. My family tree is a little less traditional than the stereotypical scrapbooker so that idea scares me out of my mind, but I know at some point I need to tackle it in my personal albums.

Hi Shimelle! SO thrilled to chat today. I have a question for you. Non scrap related. Being a midwest girl myself, I was always curious about your move to England. Did you study abroad and that's how you fell in love with England? I just think it is amazing that you went from Kansas to moving to London. I mean that's a major move
And sort of scrap related, is there anything here in the States that you miss and just isn't available as easily in England? Certain products or supplies?

do you scrap every picture you print? What type of albums do you use?
I use 12x12 3-ring binder albums by American Crafts. I use black fabric covers for my yearly albums, red for travel and then the printed and other colourful albums for various special occasions and themes.
I don't scrap every picture I print. Not at all. I print a lot, and when it becomes really obvious that I have too many prints than I know what to do with, I share them out with others who were at the event, stick them on the fridge, etc.

Hi Shimelle, thanks for hosting the chat.
This may seem like an odd query, but you do a lot of inking... so I'm wondering how often you replace the foam on your blending tool. (Alternatively, this can be read as 'My foam seems to be falling off in wee little black balls and I simply can't replace the foam because some of it still exists.) |

have you ever thought about creating your own paper line?
It's come up a couple times but it's just never been the right situation. It's a huge amount of work and for that sort of commitment I would only consider it with a team who have a proven track record and don't want me to just donate my time and energy for the 'glory' of having my name on a paper line. Maybe some day if the right team comes along... but I'm perfectly happy designing with all the loveliness that's out there and in the Two Peas store! So much pretty paper. Sigh. |

Hi Shimelle!
I'm popping in on a break from work. Just wanted to tell you that I loved "The Perfect Collection" My husband noticed me doing a bunch of layouts one day and I tried explaining it. Now he tells me to go in my scraproom and do something "Smelly" when I'm buggin' him.
He also likes the Glitter Girl videos, as does my two year old.
Thanks for all you do! |

A big thank you for the classes you have produced this year - I am much happier with my albums since I reorganised them, Cover to Cover style.
Love all your videos & wonder if you have ever thought of doing a class, about making videos.

Oh, of course. PLENTY of times. In fact, a while back and went through and removed more than a hundred layouts from my albums because I realised they weren't the story I wanted to tell. (Several years ago I used to take any magazine assignment I was given, and the result taught me lots about scrapping and publishing and freelance work and... that often these pages were made on spec and did not reflect my own choices in style, supplies, theme or tone.)
I also go back to pages that don't seem quite right and add or subtract from them. (Who am I kidding? I add. Always add.)
But it's not a case of not liking old pages - I'm quite happy to see my style has changed greatly over the years. I don't feel I need to go back and rework all those photos on new pages. It's just that we all have pages that don't seem perfect yet, and I don't mind going back to those and trying to improve them.

I know you didn't direct this at me, but I don't think I've ever had to replace my Ranger pads. I use a dedicated one for each ink pad though, so even though I use a lot of ink overall each pad doesn't get too much abuse. I had trouble finding the Ranger pads last time I wanted to order them (to go with new Distress Inks I bought) so when I did find them I bought a whole extra pack just in case mine do ever wear out!
He also likes the Glitter Girl videos, as does my two year old.

I'm working on my card list, shopping list, and scrappy making list--right now I'm stuck on decor making for a friend of mine. she requested an valentine theme--but nothing is coming to mind for right now..
Hmmm... maybe something with 'how do I love thee? let me count the ways...'?? as then you could use numerical embellishments? |

I know that you and your dear friend GG often build your own embellishments and clusters, but I haven't seen many instances where you've mentioned using your electronic die cutter (I think you have a cameo?).
How much do you actually use it and what are your favorite uses for it given that you so often use punches and manual dies?

When so much of your life is shared online, is it a challenge to keep your real life separate?
I probably know more about you than some of my friends yet you don't know me at all.
