I was googling "Christmas card photo" and adding words like, cute, kids, and funny to the search to get different ideas. Under "funny," I found this...

How exactly does one accidentally start sending our Christmas cards of themselves minus the typically appropriate degrees of dress, I wonder.

Maybe a Seinfeld moment ala the Elaine "nips" Christmas card?

The first few thoughts that come to mind when I saw this was

What do those kids think about being naked,? I would be freaked out if my parents asked me to get naked for a family portrait.

How many "takes" did they have to do to get those props in just the right place?

How did you accidentally start a Christmas tradition of being naked..?

To do something like that with say your under 2 yr old...I'll say "whatever" but those boys are over the age where there this can be considered anything resembling appropriate.

I'm glad I'm not on their card list.

Those kids are very very naked. As I was reading the story I thought maybe it would be just waist up type stuff. But no, that is extreme nakedness LOL. I would never ever expose my kids in that way. I think that is way twisted.

Hope they turned up the heat before taking the photos. Brrrrr (I'm cold right now and I'm fully dressed so that's what struck me. Sitting on a cold bare floor...) Those poor kids. Scarred for life to be sure.

Oh my.

Way too naked for that poor little guy on the floor.

Way, way too much side boob.

Way, way, way too curious as to how you accidentally send out Christmas cards.

Maybe I'll show my kids so they can see smiling nicely for the camera isn't so bad. See - it could be worse - she could be your mother!!!

I'm with whoever said it would be cute with a baby / toddler. At this point it is just creepy and disturbing. Those poor children.

With three little boys you can only go so long until they begin to realize they are, well, naked. That leads in our family not so much to protestations of modesty as to demands for bribes. The price of this year’s photo session was $2 worth of sour gummy worms per kid. Yum.
This shows they aren't all that happy with it.

I was thinking the same thing. That poor kid drew the short straw didn't he?

And as if it weren't enough to send this to your entire Christmas card list each year, now you've plastered it over the internet as well. Lovely.

Involving the children in that picture is just so wrong. Who wants virtually naked photos of their children circulating to friends- AND sitting on an internet site for every freak to look at?

I'm no prude but this is so especially for those poor kids. Imagine having all those cards on display at their 21st birthday parties. They'll really love that. Oh the joys of being the children of exhibitionist parents.

TOO.MUCH.SIDE BOOB!!
Agreed. The first thing I thought was major 'wardrobe malfunction' here.

Someone asked the " how can this be an accident" question in the comments on their blog, this was the fathers reply...

We just ran out in the front yard and took a naked picture because we couldn't think of anything else to do one year. The next year we did a clothed card and people objected so much we shot another naked one to replace it. The rest was history.
I wonder what their neighbours thought as they were running around the front yard to get those original shots?

I think your cards can make a lot of pedophiles happy.
Another comment. This had crossed my mind also.

They could have made a better photo if the kids were holding cookie sheets or something. Mom got a big ol' apron to hide behind. The kids should have at least been allowed a dishtowel. Or a garbage can! How about a live turkey? Sack of sweet potatoes?

That was 2009. I wonder what 2010 and '11 looked like.

I think Kinkos was probably nervous about the possible accusation of soft kiddie porn.

The fact that they are just tacky and stupid probably never entered in to it.

sooo... how surprised or upset will they be when those children are older and are happy to do sexting or other things involving nakedness in front of the camera? or will they be upset? after all, they taught them and paid them for it! how fuzzy is that line? that picture upsets me....

Yeah, I was going to say, for the hoopla, it's really not that great of a pic. You can't really even claim "art" or anything...

I think it's weird and not really sure why they feel the need to do that to their children. Are they just trying to get a reaction out of people? Why why why? Starved for attention or what?

I note that dad is in the background... but at least he has Santa shorts on. Mom is wearing a fairly substantial apron... but the kids (particularly the one in front) are totally nude (except for the hats of course).

The whole thing is creepy, but it's not like they are some sort of 'we are all in this together' people about it. The kids are nude, the parents are (slightly) dressed. That is where is crosses the line to totally creepy to me.

I noticed the same as Mapchic. Parents are well covered up but kids totally naked except for hats......... The fact they've published such a photo on the internet lays it open to all sorts of child perverts!

If they were naturists there could be a point to the parents being photographed but definitely not to involve children.

They ought to be reported to children services!!

Made me cringe!

I agree that this is totally out of control, and I have posted pics of my baby with nothing but a strategically placed washcloth on Facebook. (Like, newborn baby).

My question is, aren't those boys way too old to be seeing their mom almost naked? Maybe she has underwear on under there and we just can't tell.

Absolutely cringe inducing! I'm nowhere near a prude, and had it been a photo of just the parents I would have thought-whatever, to each their own.

But to include these boys that are totally naked, and then post the photo on the Internet is delusional! Those poor kids. This borders very closely to kiddie porn-what the hell is wrong with these parents?!! They are risking their children's emotional development just so they can be seen as cool and trendy?

And I highly doubt that all of their friends said that they missed the naked versions when they used a photo of them all clothed one year, and that they should return to the nude version the following year. Unless the only friends they have are paedophiles.

If a Fedex Kinkos in Charleston will print a picture of a girl in a bikini or a boy with his shirt off, then they should print my Christmas cards.

Does he really think either of those situations is the same as his?
