Welcome to the Young Scrappers thread for December 2012, the last thread of the year!

Who are the Young Scrappers? We are a group of "young" 20-something to 30-something year old girls who created a group to share our interest in scrapbooking! We take the "young" part lightly - it's all about how young you feel. Feel free to join in the chat! Just post an intro so we know who you are. And post links to your layouts here - we love to share our work & leave some praise!

----------

Cannot believe it's December! It's sunny today which is nice but I am still sick.

Monica, yay for your job situation. No DD for me. You'll be fine with your surgery!

Dog owners, milo is housetrained but is peeing inside the house. We bring him downstairs to go outside every 2-3 hours and he pees right by the door! WTF!? This just started happening recently

It was a beautiful day today!

I got our tree put up and I am going to work on Millie's tree this week.

I don't know if I told you guys this story:
Before I knew I was pregnant last December, I had a vision of decorating a little girl's bedroom with a little tree and all of my ballerina ornaments. This year my vision is a reality.

Monica, great news about the jobs! Sorry about the new roommate! I hope things work out for you guys. Denver for Christmas! That is going to be great! Too bad your other brother won't make it. Don't stress about your surgery! It will be fine I want to order scentsy from you, but I've spent my budget for Christmas already! That's not going to stop me from looking at the online catalog anyway!

Sorry about Milo, Melissa! IDK, I don't have indoor pets!

Rachel, that is SO COOL!! How sweet is that?

Hi Lisa!

Well, I and doing the same thing I do every Monday and every day! HOUSEKEEPING. I went to the local craft fair on Saturday and Hubby got the house all cleaned up for me (minus mopping and toilets, but everything else!) and now it looks even worse than before he did anything. Welcome to my frustrations, hubs! haha, well, I've got to start some laundry, etc.

Hi guys...

I keep telling myself I want to chime in more... but i always think that mid month and feel overwhelmed trying to figure out what the convo is.

Monica -congrats on the job front! thats really exciting... I am sorry I dont understand the paycut thing though and can't imagine asking for one... can you explain?

Melissa- did you bring in a real xmas tree? Scoutie is an "apartment" dog so we have to take her out downstairs too and she starts peeing and pooping in the house the first week we bring in the real xmas tree.. i guess it make it feel more like nature in here ha ha

So busy week here for me... I am cooking xmas dinner for 15 people (and counting) on sunday!! yikes!
I really want to do a DD this year or more like Shimelles (sp?sorry) JYC but am already behind ahhh!! I am really trying to get this instagram Heidi swappesque mini album or instagrams I took in Italy done and out of the way but its been taking me sooo long!! 4 days now! and still more to go ughhh! Its making me crazy! I also won a spot in Cathys two views class and itching to get that started and done... anyways lots of other exciting things going on here at the Ritchie household but will not overload you guys at the moment....

ohhh CNN app just popped up on my phone saying Prince William and Kate are expecting for sure!! thats exciting!

wow it's December...thank goodness! I'm so over Christmas pictures. (I work in portrait studio)

hopefully going to pick up my stuff for my December daily tomorrow! although I'm four days behind haha.

an old college friend is barking up my tree again but he lives 2 and half hours away (although he visits here often because his parents live here)...I swear I'm geographically challenged when it comes to dating. I have another really good guy friend 5 hours away...that thinks I should move down there.(mainly because I want to move not just move down here to date me) I would love to find someone with the same zip code or at least only 30 minutes away haha.

i've got the sinus crud again. slept all day today...I worked 3 12+ hour shifts in a row. I was wayyy to tired.

-monica your surgery will be fine! just prepare for when it does happen.

-rach that's so cool is it a real tree? I can't have real trees allergic to them

-melissa I don't have pets so I can't help you there. has there been a change in schedule? is he seeing you less? sometimes they do that for attention like kids.

Monica- that sucks about your car.. hope you get it figure out! Good Luck with your surgery today (well today in Hong Kong...but not quite yet there).. totally jealous of first you getting to go to target and second finding woodgrain wrapping paper!! Chances of finding any cool wrapping paper is next to none... this year everyone is getting their gifts wrapped in brown paper and paper bags then I have to work extra hard to make them look pretty.

So its 130am here way past when i usually sleep but did not feel good this morning and ended up sleeping till 1030 and therefore cutting in big time with the things I had to get done today on my day off. Worked on xmas decorating... our xmas tree got a few more decorations on it haha slowest tree decorating award goes to us! for the past week we have been just adding ornaments as we pass by a few more everyday.
I Started my baking for the xmas dinner on sunday. I also worked on getting my gifts organised, wrapped, addressed and packaged to go since everything needs to be shipped away. Also got our xmas cards back from the printers so been stamping and addressing envelopes! I don't work until 4 tm so crossing my fingers i get a good chunk more done!

Okay started feeling 85% better last night and although I felt a little sick today I managed to go to lunch with a girlfriend. It was so nice and I felt bad about keeping the girls indoors we went to the park afterwards snd even the post office
I am needed a rest, but we got dance in a little bit and then dinner so no nap today for me.
I probably won't be able to catch up on previous post (there is a TON) so sorry if I missed big news. I try to pick up off the conversation in the thread.
Hope everyone is having a good day.

sorry girls, for some reason i couldn't find this thread until just now

it's been a busy week and dealing with a power tripping wanna be maintenance man who puts duct tape on EVERYTHIGN and calls it fixed doesn't help. Needless to say, even though we just moved in here 2 weeks before thanksgiving, we will be moving again come tax time! So over it. I got cussed out yesterday for hanging my laundry out to dry! Really! Get over it! and then he came back this am to say, "What's your fing problem lady?"

it's just not worth it. I'm struggling with the 10 pic layout, but i will get some of the ones i've done lately posted by th eend of the month. I'm 8 away from my 50 layout minimum I wanted to do before the end of the year... and that's about that...

Hey ladies... so far so good with my promise to keep up! yay! and it is a hectic week!

Mon- glad your surgery went well!! Anaesthesia does some pretty funky things to me... one time I was getting surgery in Beijing and the dr and nurses were all speaking chinese to while I laid on the table and they were putting me out.. when I came out of it I couldnt remeber how to speak English! I went under with my chinese brain turned on and it took a while to turn off... Poor Luke was waiting for me in recovery and he would speak English and I would reply in Chinese... all I can remember was how frustrated I was.. I really wanted to speak English but the words would not come to my mouth!

Dawn- sorry to hear about crazy man! thats no fun to have to move again!

So running around trying to get things ready for dinner on sunday... I realised I don't have enough plates for everyone.. or forks or spoons... or even glasses!! So guess i better make a trip to Ikea. I have a million things to do on my list but still have to go to work and a friend who I havent seen since my wedding more than a year ago is in town making it hard to get things done!! ughh! I need 2 me's!

Hey ladies!

Monica: weird about your experience. Glad to hear you got your tooth pulled and it went okay. Try eating mashed potatoes ando gravy (yum) and I ate Mac and cheese from KFC and a ton of soup.

Dawn: um yeah it sounds like another move is in order. That stinks and I wonder if there is any legal actions you can take. You should not be treated that way. Moving is no fun, but that place does not sound safe or pleasant place to be. Hope it gets better.

Jen: I don't remember seeing your intro post so I want to introduce myself. I'm Elizabeth, 27, married 6.5 years, 2 girls ages 5 and 2, expecting another member in July, and I live in Oklahoma.

Have been having my moments of ups and downs, but I am trying to push pass feeling sick and getting my house back in order. I am getting help from my oldest which is nice and DH helps out a lot too. Today I plan on getting my livingroom back to being clean and caught up on laundry. I doubt I will scrapbook much this month. I plan on making my christmas cards tomorrow to mail out Saturday but that all depends. Better get to it.

Monica: let it get cool and then eat it. Trust me you won't mind that's it not hot. I think when I had 4 molars removed I even had a biscuit and soaked it in the gravy and potatoes. It melts in your mouth. So yum. Hopefully you can get to eating some real food soon, but give it time to heal. I could really go for a mashed potato and gravy diet right about now

Rachel: I sent mine off already thank goodness because I doubt I would be able to fit anything else in the box

Hi Melissa, just a note in case you don't have a response about Milo yet.

Urinating in the house can be a sign of a) stress or urinary tract infection, etc. Since he's going right by the house when you take him outside, I believe Milo is reacting to the increased stress of Christmastime/holidays (even 'happy stress' is a stress reaction). Pets can definitely clue in on the higher energy, nerves and activity around the house. Urinating is part of marking territory. Milo could be wanting some reassurance that 'this is still my house' when his people are now acting crazy (in his mind) and doing different stuff. Has he been through Christmas before?

Take some quiet time with him every day. When you take him outside to go, don't just 'go and then go back in.' Take 5-10 minutes to play, and give him pets and treats. When baking, decorating, shopping-hustle is going around, he may do better his favorite room or place by himself. Give him a place where he can relax, and make sure everyone in the home gives him pets and attention (quietly, not just a rush-by) every day. That may help. If not, you might want to check with his vet to make sure everything's A0K. Good luck!

Hey girls!

Can't believe how fast time is passing by! We're racing towards the end of the year! Luckily things have settled down a bit at work.. Or maybe I've pushed things off the side.. It's still busy.. But I'm looking forward to the holidays.. Having some time off In fact.. I took coming monday and friday off as well

My little nephew is with us for the weekend and we're having a ball! You can see we're not used to it yet, the parenting thing.. Last night after we brought him to bed we crashed unto the couch.. exhausted So I admire you mothers out there

How are you're weekends so far? Fun things planned?

@ Monica: Any news on the job front? Hope you'll get lucky! And how's your recovery so far?

@ Rach: that tree with the ballerina stuff is so cute.. As is Millie.. Love her pics on IG... She's absolutely adorable!

I sent my SS package on the first of December btw.. Hope it gets there on time!

@ Jen: Can totally relate.. Sometimes it's hard to keep up with this chatty bunch Wish I could hang out with you gals more often.. Just chat&scrap

@ Elizabeth: Glad to hear you're feeling better! In time for the busy holiday times

@ Melissa: That's great! Must be priceless! Thanks again for the sweet card btw

Well I'm off to make some white chocolat fudge.. or at least try.. The little man's asleep now so I better make most of my time

I've been busy studying and working! My two hardest exams are on Tuesday (Anatomy and Botany) but once those are done I'll have a little more time to stop by and chat!

Rachel, How is Millie doing now? A little better after the shots?

Melissa- I think one of the lessons about giving that I have learned, is that you have to give with the right intent in your heart despite how the gifts are received. I am sure the family is blessed by your kindness.

I know I am blessed by you and your desire to make peoples lives better!

One more day off work- I don’t want to go back on Tuesday. I want to stay home with Millie.

Hi
I'm checking in via kindle while baby g eats her breakfast. She is painting her rummy with orange slices and not eating actually. She is 18 months old today! Should I stop calling her baby g?

Melissa- that is discouraging. Christmas is about love and giving so I know you will be blessed. Just forget about the big Tv and nice jewelery!

Rachel- aren't shots the worst? Gem has had a health issue since Thanksgiving I need to go get her in the bath but I'll fill you all in about it later!

Hey ladies!

Melissa: was still a good thing you did. Thanks for the Christmas card!

Loni: nope not to old in my eyes. I still consider Lilo my baby and she is almost 3. I probably will always treat her like my little baby as long as she wants me too. I didn't get to cuddle up with Glori because she was a daddy's girl and now I have someone that loves to cuddle with her mama I cherish it. Hope I can make room for two in my lap once the baby comes. Lol. I probably need to let her grow up, but for now she'll be my baby.

Dee: glad you are taking some time off and having fun with your nephew. Fudge- yum my husband loves fudge, but I don't know how to make it. One day I'll have to make him some for Christmas.

Well still battling the nausea, but my husband has actually been doing a lot better with me out of commission. I go for an ultrasound tomorrow and super nervous. Last time they couldn't find the heart beat, but I am hoping that's just because it was too early. Hoping for a strong heart beat and a bouncing baby. Will try to post a picture tomorrow when I get back. I am going to rest a bit and try to stay warm. When did it get so cold out? Gosh it's freezing out.

Monica: ouch dry cereal on sore gums. Doesn't sound pleasant. Hope they heal up soon so you can eat the things you enjoy and miss. Busy busy bee. Sounds like you're having a fun time and that's great. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy yourself even though your mouth was probably still hurting. Take it easy and have fun working on your DD.

Rachel, Loni and Elizabeth, thanks!

Loni, don't stop calling her baby g... She may be growing but still is your baby!

Elizabeth, sucks about the nausea! I think that's something I'm pretty nervous about for when I get preg. Hope your ultrasound goes well! Your welcome for the card I agree, it did get cold fast! Not liking it!

Monica, ouch! Probs could have ate the cereal if it soaked for a bit longer in milk... Glad your healing well.

Hey Monica! I tried to buy that scentsy stuff when we chatted but they wouldn't take my address! So, I tried my mom's and that didn't work either. I decided I'd better not spend the money anyway. BUT did you get enough orders for the hostess benefits?
How are you feeling?'

Elizabeth, I know she cuddles more now than she has in a while. I love my Baby G! I'm sorry about how icky you feel. I know what you're going through. It won't last forever I promise!! Can't wait to hear how your US goes!

Melissa, it's ALL worth it. Don't be scared of motherhood! You'll be a good mom, I think!

OH, I don't have time for this, but let me quickly tell you about Baby G's rash - she has had inphentigo since Thanksgiving. I was pretty sure that was what it was and I tried to treat it on my own, but it didn't go away so I finally took her to the Dr. There was some mix ups with the oral prescription, but she is doing much better and it has almost cleared up. Maybe you have seen the marks on her face in my recent IGs.
Anywho, P has it on her elbow and a little mark on her chest, but she says it doesn't hurt so hopefully we'll be healed up again soon!

Melissa: oh please don't let my sickness from this pregnancy scare you away. Lol I am a wimp when it comes to pain and honestly this is the worst morning sickness of the kids. Plus I haven't thrown up (yet) so that's a plus. Some people say it's hereditary, but I am not sure since my mom can't remember. Either way it's all worth it for a baby to calls yours and love. You'll do fine when your times come. Have fun exploring the world first. I bet it is real cold there in Canada. Try to stay warm.

Loni: I know this too shall pass. Trying to pass time until tomorrow, but seems to be moving slow for me. Sucks about P getting the rash. I have never heard of that and will be looking it up. Thankful it is passing and everyone is getting better.

Wow. I'm trying to catch up on the December thread but time's going by so fast... End of the year is busy season for work as well so trying to catch up in all areas of my life. Hopefully there's room for scrapping haha How was everyone's weekend? I got around to clearing up my craft space so I'm going to try to crank out a couple layouts this week.

Monica: Good to hear that you're recovering well! And lucky you for seeing Trans-Siberian! Seems like they would put on a great show

Loni: Hope the kiddos' rashes go away soon

You never know Melissa. that would sweet if your grandma got a chance to hold them and spoil them. No rush enjoy life and good things will happen. You are such a person and your bf would be crazy not to marry you. Yeah it's really cold there. Have to buy some warm clothes this winter for sure. Been able to get by with not much, but might bit the bullet and go shopping for maternity winter clothes soon.
