I have some Bic's and Spectrum Noir markers and was wondering if they can be used to color onto the stamps then stamp the image on paper. If those wont work what would (copic's are not in my budget ) thanks for your help |

From what I have know about stamping I would use memento tuxedo black ink(or whichever color you like), and then color in the image.

I don't know - I would think they would dry too fast. A dye or pigment based marker would stay wet longer. |

I would use a pigment ink marker--the others will dry too fast. If you want to use something less expensive try some crayola markers--they've worked for me in the past! |

Hero Arts has some stamp markers and Tim Holtz has distress markers which will also work.

Yeah these alcohol markers (including Copics) don't work for coloring on a stamp. They are great for coloring in a line image stamped in black (or brown or whatever) though. Watercolor crayons work well as do pigment or water based markers. I use Stampin Up but I know Distress markers work well - huff a puff of air just before you stamp to make sure it is moist or most with water for a watercolor look. I think Marvy Le Plume may also work.

I'm not familiar with bic markers , but I have used the Noir markers at scrapbook conventions and they can be used to color stamps then stamped on paper. They are alcohol markers and any of those will work, M's sell Dee Gruenig, she makes affordable alcohol markers. You can used a coupon on them and she talks about coloring stamps with the markers on her packaging. I think they are priced in a package for about $14.95, but I mentioned you can use a coupon on them. I hope this helps.

I have both Tim H. and American Crafts markers that I use on Stamps. They work great for me. I have gotten both at Joann's and slowly built up my supply by using coupons. |

Aren't the bic markers permanent?
If they are, don't use those.
You need water soluble, wet markers.
I like Le Plume II and my old EK Success markers |

Yes, the LePlume markers (it might be the II someone was referring to) that are designed for stamped images. It's what the owner of Art Impressions stamps uses. |

Design Memory Craft makes Big Brush Markers that are great for stamping. I use them on my stamps all the time and the nibs are still good as new! You can spritz with water too and get second generation stamping from them as well. They dry permanent. Great product, great colors!
2 Peas carries them as well!
Here is a blog post and video by Jennifer McGuire using them for stamping.
