This past weekend I was able to meet up with a few Peas for some scrapbooking at the Archivers by Rosedale. I think that it would be wonderful to have the opportunity for more MN Peas to get together!

I noticed that there is a monthly thread for Florida Peas and I am wondering if there would be any interest in having one for Minnesota so; we can get to know each other better.

My name is Robin. I have been married for 29 years. My husband and I live just north of the Twin Cities. The majority of my scrapbooking is LO's of our 8 yr. old grandson. On occasion, I mix things up and scrap travel or heritage pics. I am addicted to 2 pg. LO's but, would love to scrap 1 pg. LO's like rhiansmom or Christine M. When I am not scrapbooking, I can usually be found creating in other ways.

Where North of the twin cities do you live? I'm in Cambidge. I would love to host a crop at my house. I can have about 12 people.

I also had a wonderful time getting to know some MN peas at Archivers.

My name is Angel. I live in Cottage Grove, have been married 19 years and have a16 year old ds and 13 year old dd. I scrapbook both of them and also have a few albums I add to each year plus vacations. I also do mostly 2 page layouts with several pictures on them. I love the look of 1 pict layouts but seldom do that.

Saturday was a great time and I can't wait until January to do it again!

Anyways, I'm rhiansmom (I have a unique first name and thus don't use it online) and I live in the Chisago Lakes area. I have one DD who just turned 13 and I just got married this past June. DD and I love to travel and we just returned from our 13th trip to DisneyWorld but we have also been to many other places (NYC, Philly, Montana, LA, Disneyland, Paris, London, Rome, etc) and are currently planning our next trip but can't decide on a destination. DH would rather stay home with our four dogs (German Shepard, Old English Sheepdog, Collie and a German Malamute) and that is ok with us.

And I'm Lynette and I live in Maple Grove. It was delightful meeting the MN Peas who were at Archivers last Saturday. I have been married to dh for 24 years, we have two daughters both in college. And the best thing about empty-nesting? More time to craft! Right now I'm working on 30 days of thankfulness from last month, but up next will be a couple of vacation albums. Going to mix LOs and pocket pages on those, because I believe the album should not take longer than the trip.

I'm Renee. I wasn't able to go to the meet up. My oldest DD is a freshman at Gustavus and is in the symphony orchestra. They had their big Christmas concert so we attended that along with the Swedish Christmas buffet. I really hope to attend the next get together. Sounds like you had a lot of fun.

I live on the north side - Andover - near Anoka and Coon Rapids. I have been married for 21 years. We are about to become empty nesters. Oldest is at Gustavus and youngest is a HS senior. She will most likely attend Winona State or Mankato next year.

We love traveling, too. Last year we went to Dallas-Fort Worth. Year before it was a 3 week European adventure and a week in Hawaii. This year we are looking at possibly doing a Disney trip with my siblings and their families. My DH is a huge Vikings fan so is really wanting to go back to London to see them play there next September.

I'm Barbie, and I'm a recent (just a few weeks ago!) transplant to MN from Nashville, TN. I live in the Lake Calhoun/St. Louis Park area. I have a 24 yo daughter who is engaged to be married, and just moved to NY after 6 years in Honolulu.

I love to travel, and my favorite destination so far has been Ireland. I also love Canada--particularly Montreal. Colorado is also a favorite place, not only because of the scenery, but I have a lot of friends there. My most recent trip was Nova Scotia earlier this year. My travel albums are some of my favorite projects, and I just finished one from my trip to Washington State. Next up is my Hawaii album...

I've been scrapbooking since 1997, and I am a hybrid scrapper. I love working with paper and glue, but I also enjoy digital work. Photography and design are my passion. Other hobbies/interests include knitting and crocheting, reading, and watching movies & TV.

Oh, and I snow. There better be snow for Christmas!!!

I'm happy to see so many Minnesotans checking in!

Jean - I live in Big Lake. Let me know if you would like to get together sometime to scrap. We could meet at Archivers in Maple Grove, Crafts Direct or . . . Maybe, some of the other gals would be interested in joining us.

Sylvia - The gals at the crop on Saturday were talking about the possibility of getting together to scrap at your home. Maybe, something could be arranged.

Renee - I am sorry that you missed the crop but, it sounds like you had a wonderful time and created incredible memories with your DD and family. Let me know if you would like to get together sometime to scrap. We could meet at Archivers in Coon Rapids or . . . Maybe, some of the other gals would be interested in joining us.

Hi all - I live in New Hope. I actually work just blocks from the Roseville Archivers.

I have been married for 8 years and we have 1 four legged fur baby. I have been scrapping since about 2003. I would love to find others close by to scrap with. My SIL does, but with 3 kids she doesn't get much time to get away and play.

Jaimie - I am finding out that there are a lot of us on the board that are looking for someone to scrap with. There should be plenty of opportunities coming up for you to connect with other Peas for some fun, laughter, scrappy chatter and maybe, a little actual srapping time too.

I hate to admit that I've never been to Crafts Direct. I've been meaning to go for well, years. I was even up in St. Cloud about a month ago. I guess I just need a reason so would be totally up to a field trip. I could pick Robin up on the way.

My name is Lynne and I leave south of the river. I work in DT Minneapolis and was born and raised here. I have two adult kids and a lovely little fur baby. I wish I had paid more attention about the Archiver's meet, but I had a baby shower on Saturday and couldn't have made it anyway.

I have always wanted to take a field trip up to Crafts Direct! I did not know they had a workspace. It would be fun to scrap with someone. I am a Scrapbook Generation kit subscriber and a Disney fanatic, so that's mostly what I work on.

Pine City is actually near me.. the store is huge and has lots of newer lines. She had a large area devoted to stamps and supplies and the rest is pure scrappy goodness. It's actually just a bit north of me on 35N. If you want to go... let me know I can meet you in Forest Lake or North Branch and I'll take you there

Wow I miss a day of Peaing and you ladies have been busy! Thanks Robin, this was a great idea! My name is Sarah, as my pretty lame pea name says , I also had a great time on Saturday! Can't wait to do it again, so great talking with others that speak the same language!

I live in Eagan , and don't have any children. I just love to scrap for myself and other family members. I am on a vacation mission to visit every NASCAR track, do I scrap that a lot. I also love to try new things and learn so I take a lot on online scrap classes.

I am totally down for crafts direct as well, I also wouldn't mind car pooling, as its pretty far for me as well. Are we thinking January for that? We had been talking about getting together again around the 18th or 25th right? I am game for anywhere, but CD only if roads aren't bad from weather... As I assume we will have some of Barbie's highly anticipated snow by then!

Have a Nice Day!

Hi Lynne and Sarah. It's nice to see that you found this post and are joining in!

Here is the link (I hope) for Crafts Direct:
http://www.craftsdirect.com/
They have an in store Coffee Shop where you can purchase sandwiches, soups, coffee (of course) and misc. It would be a good place to grab a quick lunch or there are plenty of restaurants in the area that you could choose from.
Crafts Direct will accept JoAnn's, Michaels and their own coupon (if they are currently running one)during the same purchase. That means that you could get 3 items for 40% off on each. The catch is that you have to pay $1 per coupon. They give that money to a different charity each month. I checked CD's January class listings and they were not posted yet so; we will need to watch to see when they have an open day for scrapping.

Here is the link (again, I hope) for Pine City. I have not been there in years but, I know that rhiansmom can give us some info.
http://www.thepinecityscrapbookingco.com/home.html

I may be over thinking things which I often do but, I like to be organized and pro-active so here goes:
there seems to be a lot of people interested in scrapping at Crafts Direct, Pine City and Sylvia's too. Would anyone be interested in rotating where we hold the crops? Maybe, we could do CD in January, Pine City in February and Sylvia';s in March or put them all on a every other month schedule. Those that want to could get together in between. I hope that I am not being to pushy by presenting this idea.

I noticed that the Florida Peas are creating a question of the week so; they can get to know each other better. If you are interested in sharing - here is my question for the MN Peas:
What do you do for a living or if you are retired, what did you do for a living or if you are looking for a job, what do you want to do for a living?

I spent most of my working years in the Early Childhood Field. I am now employed as an Administrative asst. in a very small, very traditional Lutheran church. I attend a very large, very contemporary Alliance church.

Whew, I'm done chatting for now. I hope that it wasn't an overload for everyone!

I love the idea of a regularly scheduled crop! And rotating the location is fine too, as long as some of the locations are closer, like Archivers. And just so you know, I DON'T drive in snow. If the roads are cleared, we're good. But I have no experience driving in snow and ice, and would rather not try now, lol. Weird for someone who loves snow and can't wait to have lots of it, I know. But I can walk to Whole Foods, Walgreens, Caribou, My Burger, Ben & Jerry's, along with sushi and Chinese food. So I'm good!!

As for your Get-to-know-you question...

I've been a professional photographer for the past 12 years, doing weddings, portraits, school photos, some editorial work, and some fine art. Prior to that, I had a plethora of various jobs in various industries...retail, child care, medical, staffing, IT, purchasing...Didn't love any of them. I'll be back in the job market after the holidays, but have no idea what I will be doing...

Lynne - I forgot to mention that rhiansmom is also a Disney fanatic (maybe, she would choose a different word). She does 1 pg. LO's are absolutely AMAZING! I am a two pg. scrapper as were most of the gals at the Archivers crop. Lately, I have been loving the SG style of scrapping. I am on a mission to get pics scrapped and the sketches really help.

rhiansmom - I know, it was even worse for me before the widened 494 to 3 lanes a few years ago!

To answer Robin's question - I work in the IT field primarily in the Retail area managing systems development for the stores. I love it, but it can be very long hours and high stress so lately been thinking about slowing down a bit.

I am up for a regular date something like the 3rd Saturday of the month or something, and rotating the locations around the cities - maybe something new each month instead, and then we can get to see lots of different locations but plan several months out if we can...

I'm have been teaching and subbing for the past four years. Last year I taught fifth grade and right now I have a long term sub job for school readiness/preschool. Before that I did at home childcare for 15 years.
Great idea to meet somewhere each month and I agree that we should try to do some closer at Archivers also. Sarah, we could meet somewhere and carpool to CD and whoever else would like to.
I have a minivan and don't mind driving, just don't want to go that far alone. And I'm sorry Barbie, I want snow for Christmas but wouldn't mind if we dont have much after December

I used to be a data analyst for a defense company until I got laid off 3 years ago. My youngest was starting HS and having some struggles so we decided that I would be a SAHM until she graduated.

I am totally cool with going different places around the cities for meet ups. It would also be great to have a set weekend of the month that everyone meets that way it could get on the calendar.

I had to laugh when I read this part of Angel's post "Great idea to meet somewhere each month and I agree that we should try to do some closer at Archivers also." I understand what she is saying but, doing some closer would be relative to where everyone starts from so: that brings up the question of what is close for each of us. For me the 3 closest stores are Crafts Direct, Archivers in Coon Rapids and Maple Grove. Further away would be Pine City, the Archivers by Rosedale and others. I am not opposed to driving a bit if I can afford it at the time and the weather is cooperative. What about everyone else? What are the 3 stores closest to you and what stores are further away that you would you enjoy visiting?

Hello all:
My name is Peggy Waltz and live in the Elk River area and work in Little Canada. I've been married for 7 wonderful years and have 2 adult boys. I mostly scrap our vacations that we have taken and I've got 7 on my list to do; now that I'm done with school I can put more effort into completing my list.

After the Holidays I have set up some Crop get-together weekends if anyone is interested I still have room for more scrapper to join. The dates are:
Jan 11 from 4:00pm - 10:00pm (4 spots open)
Jan 12 from 9:00 am- 11:00pm (2 spots open)
Jan 13 from 9am-5pm (5 spots open)
Feb 9 from 9am-11pm (3 spots open)
Feb 10 from 9am-5pm (6 spots open)
Mar 9 from 9am-11pm (4 spots open)
Mar 10 from 9am-5pm (7 spots open)
The get-together will be at a place called Scrappin N Chattin located in Dayton MN. The cost for this is $10.00 per day/per person + any supplies that you buy at their store.
If you would like more information, please email me at: twinkiejo2004@msn.com

It would be great to meet other scrappers from around the area.

Have a wonderful day!

It would appear that the Archiver's in Roseville, Eden Prairie, and Mall of America are all about equal distance from me. All about 20 minutes.

I don't mind driving longer distances for some get togethers, but I think it would only be fair to rotate the locations so the same people are driving the longest distances every time. So if we do a GTG in St. Cloud, maybe the next month we do one in Bloomington or Eden Prairie or Roseville. Then Maple Grove, etc. I'm pretty central, but I realize that others aren't.

I would also prefer to have a regular date, like the 3rd weekend of the month or something, so we can plan our schedules in advance. But I'm pretty flexible at this point.

Hi gang! I love the idea of some rotating crops around at diff. places to mix it up as far as driving. And the Crafts Direct idea sounds GREAT to me! I love that place even though I only get there maybe twice a year. Sensory overload indeed!

As for what I do...I work in a church office here in Maple Grove. I manage the facility and IT parts of ministry support. I live close to MG Archivers.

Hi fellow MN Peas!! I'm Kelly and I live in Barnesville, MN (not Burnsville!) which is located on I-94 about 30 miles east of Fargo-Moorhead (ND/MN line). I work at a Reproductive Medicine clinic in Fargo as an andrologist & teach occasional college courses. I've been married for 8 years and have 2 kiddos & 4 furbabies.
I would love to crop at Crafts Direct!! What an amazing store!! It's like Hobby Lobby on steroids It's exactly 2 hours from my driveway to CD's parking lot

I totally agree that mixing it up and rotating the location would be a good idea and fair to everyone. It will also give us the opportunity to visit various stores and see what they have to offer for scrap space and products. I also like the idea of a regular date. How does everyone else feel about this? If you like the idea, what weekend would work best for you and would you prefer to meet every month or every other month? If you don't care for the idea, what would you prefer?
I don't want anyone to feel like I am trying to take things over. I am just so excited about the possibility of scrapping with others that speak the same language and as I said, I tend towards organizing. Remember, everyone's ideas are important!

TwinkieJo - If I remember correctly Scrappin N Chattin is a scrapping space and not an actual scrapbboking store. Am I correct about that? Either way, I would love to check it out sometime!

I'm totally flexible on which weekends. I'm also totally up for CD in January or whenever.

But since I won a pass to another ScrapMania at Archiver's, let's also schedule another GTG there so I can book it, lol! (I only have 30 days to schedule it, but a year to use it.)

Hi Kelly -
Somehow,I missed your post. I am glad that you joined the chat! I am looking forward to meeting you when we go to Crafts Direct.

Paisley's Garden -
Is Scrappin N Chattin owned by the same women(Cindy)that owned Scrap N Chat in Monticello?
We don't have a definite date for Crafts Direct. After a few more people post, we will have more of an idea how we will proceed from this point. We will also need to wait for CD to post their January classes so; we will know what avaiability they have.

Scappin N Chattin does have a little store attached to the scrapping area in which has a lot of older establishments, dies, and loads of papers to purchase. If you would like more information about the place, take a look at their website: www.scrappinnchattin.com.
I've been there once and fell in love with it; it is close to home, the price is very reasonable, very spacious, and relaxing.

Happy to be Scrappin'

Answering the question that was asked by My Scrapper Lady. What do you do for a living.
I have worked in the Medical Device industry for the past 22 years. I currently work for one of the bigger Medical Device companies located in Little Canada as a Lab Administrator and Radiation Safety Officer for all of our X-ray and Fluoroscopic machines. Its a rather fun job and I love going to work every day; which is a plus in today's world.

Happy to be Scrappin'

Such a fun thread! I have actually been to the Pine City scrapbook store, and I thought it was wonderful! Unfortunately, I could not spend much time there, but when I was there I notice they had some good classes and a nice workspace.

I work for a non-profit that provides financing for small businesses. I've been there for 21 years, and alternate between hating it and loving it - today is a loving it day!

I look forward to getting together with some of you in January!

I'm so happy that we are planning this... I am good with whatever weekend that is picked. I live NE of the cities about 8 miles from the MN/WI border so wherever we pick is a drive for me but I'm good with it.
