I'm going home for break and very seriously considering taking my Cameo with me. I'd put it in my checked bag, securely wrapped in lots of clothing.

Have you ever traveled (by plane) with your Cameo? What was your experience? You don't think I should put it in my carry on, do you?

I would try to fit it in your carry on. I checked my circuit once and it broke.

I would remove the blade, place it in the checked baggage and have the actual Cameo in my carry on. I carry on my high end blow dryer & Chi on every flight because TSA is rough with luggage!

I thought about checking it, but I wasn't sure if it would go through TSA and trust me, I do not want to have issues with it.

I don't know why this post made me laugh, but all I could think of was that you needed to buy it its own seat

Okay, my last post totally didn't make sense... I meant to say to take it in my carry on. I was worried it wouldn't go through security.

I have shipped my Cricut via FedEx and have taken it on a plane in its own bag/box. It has always made it safely.

But, and this is important, most carriers will NOT reimburse you for this type of item if the bag is lost or damaged. You need to read the carrier's policy carefully to see what they do and don't cover. Now, if you can afford to replace it, then perhaps this is not an issue.

I always knew I was taking a chance when I checked it and often preferred to ship it via FedEx (with insurance).

scrappingbetty - when you take it on a plane, do you usually take it as a carry-on?

I took my Wishblade in my carry on. No problem. If they ask any questions, just say it is an electronic cutter, but that the blades for it were packed in your checked luggage.

However, I think that I took my machine OUT of my carry on bag and sent it through the scanner like a laptop. That way, there was NO question that I was being totally open and above board about it. Once through the scanner, I put it back into my carry on, and wrapped it well to protect it. It made it fine in the carry on, but it was smaller than the Cameo or Expression.

I have heard so many horror stories of things being taken out of suitcases, there is no way I'd put my Cameo or Cricut in there. Same with laptop, dSLR. I put clothing and shoes in checked baggage only.

Medicine, electronics, make-up and ID all come with me in my carry on.

I saw the thread title and thought you wanted to scrap while flying. Then I thought of the noise and figured I'd kill you if you were sitting next to me with that thing...

"Can I put my beverage on your tray while I scrap? My machine is taking up my whole tray, thanks. Oh, and I hope you brought ear plugs. Does this look alright or should the picture be on the left..."
