I have never done PL or a DD album but sitting here reading about the DD album makes me want to do one.

THEN, I get stressed thinking that I have not prepared. Do you actually have to have a bunch of stuff pre-made to make it work. Can you just keep notes and track of the pictures you want to take and make it work AFTER Christmas????

I love Christmas and all the stress, shopping, baking, decorating, stress, that go along with it!!! I am not sure I could actually pull it together to keep up every day with an album.

Anyone else keep track and do it AFTER????

Give me ideas or thoughts especially from the seasoned scrapers who do this every year.

I do mine after the holidays - still working on 2011. We travel over the holidays and I cannot bring any supplies with me. Journal everyday and take pictures and assemble in the New Year.

I actually did mine this year with photos from last year so I say go for it! I think having the freedom to adapt it to your needs makes it easier.

Well, there are no scrapbooking laws or scrapbooking police, so you can definitely do what YOU want to do, and no one is going to fuss at you.

I have zero plans or intentions of even starting my album before the new year. I have an idea of what colours and products I want, so I've been buying and stashing it all together in a box. (It is a very pretty box right now! and getting full!). I am going to wait until my photos are printed and then start.

I also am not necessarily going to do a page/photo per day. I am just using this as an opportunity to record Christmas preparations and celebrations. A good reminder to take photos of the stuff I normally don't photograph, but that are still important to the holiday.

I read about a TON of peas who just finished their DDs from last year within the past few months. Go for it! Whether you are just going to take pictures and make notes for later, or make one this week, just do it! This is my first year and I am LOVING it so far. I just printed my pictures yesterday and haven't even put them in my book yet, but I'm excited!

You can use what you have in your stash or go to a LSS and grab some holiday stuff, it's all on sale now too! I am using a little Recollections binder from M's and it is so simple. I just hole punch cardstock and wham-o, done! I will embellish as I go and have a little more time.
Good luck!

Definitely, I didn't have my book, just got it on Monday. I am doing mine really simple. I got a 6 X 8 red smash book and am going to use the Simple Stories Chiristmas paper line (can't remember name). I am going to put pictures in there matted with some kind of journaling tag.
I plan to go back and finish decorating after holidays with a few embellishments.

I am doing mine post holiday. Just going to use my favorite pictures from the season. The daily stuff is just too stressful to me and I don't live my life that way...there is not usually something I want to photography everyday of my life.

I do make one ahead of time but as the season goes on I tend to get really busy so when that happens I just take noted on my laptop to be filled in later. There is no reason you couldn't do this from the start and just get it done when you have time.

I'm in the same boat! I love the idea of it but without preparing in advance, there is just no time. I'll be doing mine after the holidays are over. I did start to pick out paper and such. Taking the usual pictures I normally would and most of all not getting stressed about it. Well trying not too! Lol

I don't have time during December to scrapbook, so I make a note on my desk calendar what we did that day and what photo I took. Then in January I print all the photos and make a "Christmas Memories" album. Some days I'll have more than 1 thing I took photos of, other days I may forget to take a photo but it doesn't really make a difference to me if one of the photos I took on Monday becomes the photo for Tuesday in my album. Documenting the memories and the enjoyment we all get from looking through the album is the only thing that matters.

There are no rules! The idea behind doing foundations ahead is that it is less stressful. I have been taking pictures and making notes daily, but with a two month old and a kindergartener I have only finished day one so far . I didn't do foundation pages either though. I am focusing on one story per day for the most part. For me it isn't about every single picture I take.

I don't feel behind because I know there will be days where less is going on and I have more time to scrap. And I can always finish it after the new year. I love looking at other people's pages each day, and the idea is to do it in the moment, so I am trying to work on it as I can throughout the month but to not stress.

I've been feeling the same way, mommyfor b and p!

I decided that I have to wait for next year, though. I need to put some other things in order and feel like I've planned for it. I can't add things to my plate now. But I'm following as much as I can so I'm ready for next year!!

This is the first year for me. I have a picture from the day, journaling and hope to put it together over the last week of the year when we go skiing.

Wanted to add that most of my pictures for this are of xmas ornaments and decorations given to us from my 95 year old MIL. She has stories to go with each decoration and I hope to have this documented so that it is a keepsake for my children when they inheret the ornaments. My MIL grew up in Russis in a workcamp-released by the Swedish Red Cross and lived in Germany during WWII and immigrated to the states in the 1950's. Several of these of ornaments were from preWW II.

I am nor doing a December Daily per-say, I am doing a December Memories Album. Pretty much the same thing only I am not doing the daily pictures and Journaling. I just got my supplies and started yesterday. I have committed myself to doing at least 20 pictures this month and am slowly assembling pages. I know I wont complete it until after the holidays though.

I too am not doing a December Daily but I am taking Shimelles Journal Your Christmas. I didn't have anything done nor did I sign up until the last moment but I am having a wonderful time recording memories that I feel are important to get down. Mine is going to be filled with heritage pictures and stories dating back as far as 1946 post-war Germany when my dad was stationed there to just last Christmas and celebrating with the grandkids. I will be including some of my husbands memories from when he was a child and how they celebrated. This project is what you make it, so it can suit what you choose to do. I let myself get caught up in that "I'm behind" mentality yesterday as I struggled with putting together the first layout. I had the story but I hated everything I was trying to do. So I ripped it apart and started again in a different direction and I love it. So jump in and enjoy the fun!!

I just decided to do a DD last week. I picked up supplies- a red Sn@p album and some paper- their line is homemade holiday, I think.

Instead of a picture a day, I'm going to do the 25' things I like/enjoy about the holiday season. I am a school teacher so I will have 2 weeks off and will put it together then.

This is my 4th year doing a December album. I always put it together AFTER December. I love looking at these albums every year.

I work full-time and just have too many other fun things going on to worry about printing photos and scrapping a page every single day.

It's great to see other people doing pages daily but it isn't for me. I am ok with scrapping Christmas later.

My Dec Daily order is still in transit, so I don't have a choice I haven't managed to take any pictures, I've spent the beginning of December sick....but I figure it journal it and move on. I can add filler cards to fake it for the first few days. I should get my box tomorrow

I just did the last five days (including today) in mine. I take photos or figure out what I'm going to use each day, but I put it together when I have time. Sometimes that means I'm doing a week's worth of layouts all at one time, but since the book is small and the layouts at pre more simple it's not too bad.

I'm taking a weekly approach this year, breaking my album into four sections and filling each section with pages when I am able to do so. Ensuring that I get one page done per day is too difficult for me, but ensuring that I do a few pages each week is not a problem.

I just decided yesterday to try it, but I am modifying it. The majority of my photos and journaling will be from the week of Christmas, when there's actually something going on to document! We put the tree up Thanksgiving weekend, which was still November. All the shopping has been done on-line and most of it shipped directly to other states. We're new to this state/city, we don't have any family here, and very few friends. It's just the two of us, so not a lot of activities or traditions to document. But we will have kids here for the week of Christmas, and lots of activities planned for that.
