I have an 8 and 11 year old. They both want video games, sports stuff, team apparel, a couple different books. The older one wanted a dumbbell set.

The older one also wanted Beats by Dr Dre, but that is a big fat no from me. I don't think he even knows a lot about them, but he still thinks he wants them.

He also wants and ipad, iphone or ipod. Again, that is a no from me.

It really depends on his interests. My 10-year-old loves survival stuff, reading, Pokemon, and playing his DS. Another kid his age might be more into sports, or clothes. Pretty much every kid I know loves Lego, though - that's usually a safe bet.
