I am always wondering what others decide to give as gifts to their children each year. So, what are your kids getting this year under the tree??? I love to hear other people's Christmas lists, no idea why.

My brothers, 10 and 15, are getting Android tablets. My nephew, 15, is getting a TARDIS mini-fridge, a video game light switch, a Doctor Who watch, and some other small nerdy things.
My ds, 3 in January, is getting a scooter and I don't know what else. I have a lot on his Amazon list but haven't looked at what's left.

My 10yo DD is getting an AG doll (scored the $50 Today show deal yesterday!!!) and a bed and a retired AG doll school desk (from eBay). She got her ears pierced for her birthday, so she's getting a pile of earrings, as well as some decor for her new room.
5yo DS is getting Avenger toys, Transformer figurines, a new bike (Avengers, natch) and an Avengers shirt.
3yo DS is getting a Matchbox racetrack and some accessories, a Transformer, a construction worker play set, and a new game and app card for his beloved LeapPad.
The baby is getting a couple of little toys. She's not quite big enough to get it all yet, and she has a ton of toys to play with as the youngest of 4, so we're cheating a little on that score.

This year, we've finally hit that wall of "no one can give me an idea of what they want for their "big" gift." At 14 and 18, I thought we might have another year or two.
My son is getting his usual pile of new video games, the Dragon software he requested, and his "big" gift is a fancy gaming chair for his room. There's a bunch of other odds and ends that I've come across that I thought he'd like/enjoy.
My daughter's big gift is going to be cash. She's likely to use some of it for a tattoo she wants. I'm not thrilled with the idea but the money is a a gift and she's allowed to use it in the way she will enjoy most. She too will also have a bunch of other things that I've picked up along the way since October that I think she'll be happy with.
There's just not going to be that OMG THIS IS WHAT I'VE ALWAYS WANTED type of gift under the tree this year. I'm trying not to panic. |

Eldest DS (19) will be getting a backpack as he wants to defer uni next year and go travelling in Europe. We'll be getting one in the post-Christmas sales because we'll get a better deal then (he suggested waiting until then. I've taught him well!).
Youngest DS (17) has asked for a new stereo for his car. Only problem is, I've just taken his keys away because of a car-related incident today. I did say he could use the car on Saturday to work, but he can't drive to school. We'll probably still get the stereo, but car use is up to us.
Besides that, I've got them new beach towels, some t-shirts, a couple of things from Think Geek and other bits and pieces. I think they'll do.

I'm entirely sure what I have in the closet, LOL, but it amounts to mostly Lego for my older DS, and mostly Duplo & Star Wars things for my younger DS. He has never seen Star Wars, but he fell in love with it by way of his brother's Lego versions of the characters.
I'm also putting together a "Family Movie" night box for all of us and a "Snowy Fun" box for all of us.
I did get a few books for both of them, and new pajamas.
Other than that, I think it's just stocking stuffers.

DD#1 is getting cash/GC. Also got her a pair of slippers because their new house is concrete floors. Several books she requested.
DD#1's fiance: A flip and Stitch quilt (very soft and comfy for TV watching). the Harry Potter series of books. He has never read them and wants to.
DD#2: A guitar. She actually helped pick it out the weekend after thanksgiving because the music store we love was having a huge sale. The guitar is gorgeous and great quality for an awesome price. Also all the stuff for the guitar. The only thing we haven't gotten her is a stand, she isn't sure she will want one in her dorm room. Some warm stuff since there will likely be snow when she goes back to college.

For the big gifts:
DS#1 (almosts 13) is getting a prepaid cell phone that we'll pay the bill on. He has no idea & will be thrilled. We've always told him he wouldn't get one until he was 14, but many times it would be convenient for us if he had a phone. He's also getting a Kobo mini (e-reader)
DS#2 (10yo) is getting a good remote controlled helicopter (which he'll also be thrilled about - he's wanted one for a long time) and a Kobo mini
DS#3 (7yo) getting a remote controlled car (also something he really wants) and a DSi so he has his own.
I think we've really nailed it with the big gifts this Christmas. I can't wait to see their faces!

We finally gave in and did the video game thing. Both boys are getting DS's and an XBOX360/Kinnect for a "family" gift. We did a couple games for each and jammies and clothes. Besides stocking stuffers, that's pretty much it. It doesn't seem like much when it's all sitting there in a pile but it's the most we've ever spent on Christmas for them. They are getting to the age where everything they want is small and expensive!

DS (15) is just getting one gift, a Dell laptop suitable, other than stocking stuffers. He is in the multimedia program at his school, so we got him a computer that is good enough to run all the Photoshop and similar programs, hopefully for the rest of his high school career.
His birthday was in November, at which he got all the video games and clothes that he wanted. |

Still trying to figure it out.
My dad is getting all 4 boys Android tablets. My MIL is getting 3 of them robes/pj's/slippers. The fourth one some kind of flying simulator for his computer.
All I have is stuff for my oldest. Pj/robe/slippers and some artist paint. The younger ones I haven't a clue.

My kids are getting tons. Every year dh and I say we will cut back but we never do,
We like to indulge them a little at Christmas. They have all their "needs" taken care the rest of the year, so Christmas is mainly for "wants and wishes".
We absolutely over indulge here too. In fact, I was irritated with my husband last Friday night because we (along with our 11 year old) were out shopping for Christmas gifts for my dad.
The 11 year old found a pair of Under Amour sweat pants she wanted. My response: 'Great...I'll add that to my list of ideas for Christmas'.
My husband's response: 'What? You don't get sweatpantsfor Christmas...just buy then already, you Grinch'.
We sometimes disagree, on what makes a Christmas list, especially three weeks before Christmas, but he always wins because deep down inside, I agree.
But someone has to be a hardass around here once in a while. |

My kids only get 3 gifts-because that's how many Baby Jesus received and they don't get more than him.
This is brilliant! For years I always tried to buy so many gifts for my kids so the tree would look "full" underneath. It was a lot of thought and work and I am just not into it anymore. This year I gave them a sheet to fill out that I found on Pinterest where they list one thing they want, one thing to read, one thing to wear, and one more thing so four things total. My 10 year old ds's were cool with it but my 12 yr old dd wasn't happy. I am not giving in though. I think next year we will adopt the rule above. |

DS15 is getting Soul headphones, a boom box thing for his iPod, a couple of video games, some clothes, money, and my parents bought him a new iPod touch and a case.
DS8 is getting video games, books, clothes, money, a couple of Lego sets, and a new iPod touch. His iPod was supposed to be his big gift and the Soul headphones his brother's big gift but my mother bought the older one an iPod after I asked her not to (you can't argue with Gammy!) so now I'm not sure what else to get the youngest one. It's probably fine because he has no idea how expensive his brother's headphones are and he doesn't know the difference between his 8GB iPod and his brother's 32GB one. I am going to get the younger one some headphones to go with his iPod because he hates any and all earbuds. He likes over the ear padded headphones better. So things will look pretty even under the tree even if the big kid will get more in terms of what was spent.
It is much harder to Christmas shop when you can't just clear out the toy row. |
