If I use Adobe to stitch together 2 or 4 photos to print as 1 4x6 (or digi size), that would count and print as 1 pic, right? Not count as a collage?
And what is the best way to do that? Create a new canvas the same size as the original and then resize the pics to fit the canvas?
Or do I stitch them together at original size and they will automatically resize it when printing to fit the paper?

I'm not quite sure how to answer your exact question, but I know they mess with photos a lot. Resizing and photo colour/exposure correction (which is why we don't use them - DH knows how to take a photo and process it the way he wants it tyvm) without asking the customer. A 3x5 won't be printed with borders, it will be resized to fit a 4x6. Which, frankly, I find rude. If I wanted that, I would have done that myself. CVS does the same. |

You can put several/lots of pictures on ONE canvas and it will print as one print. Pick a size that you can put all the original pictures onto, for quality. You do have to watch to be sure the proportions are correct for printing the size you want. When in question, I do the canvas then upload it to Walgreens or where ever. When you go to edit it in their program it will show what will print. Pain in the butt, but I do it over if needed (believe me I am not an expert with photo stuff, but make it work).
Years ago I created 12 x 12 LOs in Word, imported them to Paint Shop and had them printed as 8 x 8s.
Different Walgreens printers print differently, color wise.. | |

I collage mine like that in Picasa and yes it's just one print. The collage charge is for when you use their online service to create the collage. |

When you upload, if you edit and click on the crop, it will show you where it will be cropped automatically for 4 x 6. (which is centered to take some off the longest sides) You can resize the crop box so you can get the area of 4 x 6 you want. Or, you can check the box for 'true digital prints' at checkout. But you have to remember to do that. However, it seems to apply to all the photos - you don't check or uncheck for each one, so I don't know what it does if you've cropped some to 4 x 6. 
I've had prints before and they seemed okay though I wish they did matte for pickup, not just mail order. They're having a 50 for $5 sale now so that's why I was looking to get some printed. |

Thanks, that's what I thought but wanted to be sure. Not have someone look at it and say 'that's a collage'.

It definitely counts as a single print. I use Photosheet (free downloadable program) to put x 3x4's on a 4x6 canvas. They have lots of other options, that's just what I use the most.
As far as the "true" 4x6, it only adjusts it for any that aren't 4x6. Our camera takes "true" 4x6 shots, so I only see that message if I'm ordering prints from someone else's camera (or old ones from our previous camera). In that case, it only changes the ones that aren't a full 4x6 (by either cropping or printing at a 4x5.3 size). I think that was what you were asking? I always ask for the adjusted size, rather than the crop. But if you were printing pics to put into a 4x6 frame, then that wouldn't work. |

I print all of my photos through Walgreens because it's cheap. I have printed many, many sets of 4-6 photos on a single 4x6. A word of warning, though--they do get cropped around the edges a tiny bit. It doesn't both me too much. I just make sure that I don't print things with frames (Instagrams, for example), because the edges will get cut off and look odd. |

I do this a lot with my Walgreens pics, and it always counts as one print. I have to say, like somebody else mentioned, that I'm not happy with how Walgreens tweaks the prints. They are always cut off, so the photos never end up really being 3x4 or 2x3 when you cut them out. The coloring is always so dark, too. I've finally just started shelling out more to have my pics printed at Mpix - their prints are excellent! |

Upload it at the larger size, that way you keep the quality. BTW 8x10 is not huge. I have had files for 16x20 printed as 4x6. Once you find the correct proportions for where you are uploading, you will then have the template/size you need for the future for 4x6.

I've found with old film prints the prints were never *true* (accurate) 4 x 6's. They were always a smidge under (and that's not Walgreen's). I haven't measured the prints I've gotten from Walgreen's before so I don't know how their sizing stacks up.
My main reason for doing some collage prints is because I want to get more on the page and not leave some of the photos out (or have to make additional pages).
I won't be able to know if I'll be satisfied if I don't try it at least once. |

I use Walgreens quite a bit for my Project Life (the nearest Walgreens is 1 mile from my house), and overall I am pleased with the quality. Yes, they do cut off just a tiny bit around the edges, but I know that now so I adjust for that. I don't find my pictures are too dark. Maybe it's just specific labs? I put two 3x4 inch photos onto a single 4x6 canvas in CS5, then upload it to Walgreens without any problems. | |

I am not sure how to answer your question about Adobe, but this is what I do in PhotoSheet, so if you can do the same thing in Adobe, it will work.
I make the canvas size 4 x 6. I choose which option I want within that, i.e. two 3x4 photos, four 2x3, six 2x2. Photosheet also has a 3.5 x 3.5 option for when you want to print one square photo instead of six smaller ones. I would imagine on Adobe you could make it 4 x 4 if you prefer.
But you must make the canvas size 4 x 6, or Walgreens will mess it up. |
