Our youngest dd is a freshman in college across the country. She has not been home since she left at the end of August. (Close to 3000 miles away!) Middle dd is also still at college. They were always a big part of decorating, anxious to get the tree up ASAP after Thanksgiving. I still don't have any decorations up- doesn't seem the same doing it without them around.
I will just wait until final exams are over next week. Anyone else anxiously awaiting the return of college kids home for Christmas break? |

I still have two at home, but I have two coming home from school and can't wait to see them!
My oldest is pretty much turning around and leaving again - this time much further: she's going on a term abroad on Dec. 31st to Galway. Won't see her again til May!!! |

I'm waiting for my daughter to come home on Wednesday. Can't wait. Although she's just and hour and a half away unlike your daughter. I have a senior in high school also so I'll have the double whammy next year.
Enjoy your time with your daughters!
Happy Holidays! |

Grad school boy is finished on Friday with exams but haven't heard of his ETA......I'm sure he will be hanging with friends or staying in his apt for most of the next week.
College girl will be home Wed. night for an orthpedic appt TH am then driving 5 hours back to school for class on Fri. and exams-she will return sometime next week depending on what Dr says about a knee procedure....and hoping profs might let her move up a final exam to have it. Certainly trying to get it in before the end of the year and while Dr is in the office to give her extra recovery time and for insurance purposes.
Last child out of state doesn't fly in until the 23rd.......if you need an extra child I have a 20 year old I would so lone out....free of charge! Ha.
I picked out a tree yesterday but it is still sitting in the garage....must.get.it.out.and.up

I still have one boy at home but DS #1 is home early this year, on the 16th! So looking forward to having him here. He's a five hour plane ride away and I miss him a bunch.
Enjoy having your students home, everyone! |

We're far, far away but will be going home to California to join our two college kids for Christmas, then they will come here for about a month. Yay! Then we have a graduation to look forward to and another trip home to CA. yay! |

One's coming home end of this week, the other a week later (19th I think). This is our fourth year of "kids in college" and I think I've adjusted to the new normal. Both will be here a month, I'll be ready for my quiet house again when they leave!
We did our outside decorating at Thanksgiving when they were home, also a bit inside. Today the big tree went up. |

I am! One college son will be home next Friday. He was just home at Thanksgiving, but before that had not been home hardly at all since last Spring. My college daughter just moved to Colorado at the beginning of November, and we've seen her once here and once there, and hopefully she is coming home Friday, too.
I'm not having as much fun decorating without them. Actually not having fun at all, but I'm doing it anyways. |

Mine aren't in college anymore, but waiting for them to get home. dd arrives the 19th and she is very particular about how the tree is decorated - so we will put it up with the lights and then let her decorate. ds could care less about decorating, he arrives on the 23rd.
will be nice to have them home, but I am ready for them to go when the holiday is over.

This is our first holiday season as true empty nesters. Our daughter won't be home at all and I'm handling it by mostly ignoring the holidays! I'm making my daughter and her fiancé stockings and filling them with goodies and had a gift shipped directly to them. Feeling very bah-humbug. |

This is me as well, DD was in Halls last year so she came home and DS was still living here. Now that they are both living in our house in Scotland and have part-time jobs they are staying put for the holidays. I know they will have a great time and our families will include them but I am finding it really hard to get motivated to do anything Chrismassy. We are sending them cash and I will get stockings sent this week.
I said to DH yesterday that he should make a huge pot of scotch broth, some ham and roast potatoes and I will make some bread and butter pudding, get some champagne and red wine and spend the day in bed watching a box set of some show we both like, he really liked that idea I'm not looking forward to Christmas day but like it or not we have to move on and I'll live
ETA: I wish the Peas that have their kids with them a really lovely holiday and apologise for hijacking with my bah humbugness and I'm sure chktrk didn't mean that either
Actually, Happy (insert appropriate name here) to all the Peas and may the New Year be happy, peaceful and prosperous to you all.

My son came home for Thanksgiving but we are looking forward to him coming home this Thursday. We love having him home and the house does get a bit crazy with all of his friends hanging out at our home. It is fun to have him home but we are always happy to see him go back to college.
Our daughter graduated from college and got married this year and it has been an adjustment not seeing her a lot. I am still amazed how fast the years have flown by. |
